Trip Report 27 Ladies on a Disney ship - Yo, Ho, Ho and a bottle of Rum!

OK, it's been a month, Hubby is gone for a week, and I have no excuse to keep putting this off. I've never done a trip report before, so bear with me, but this trip was so awesome that it deserves to be shared!

First, I have to say thanks to @sweetpee_1993 and the little voice in her head that caused her to post the link to the Girls' Cruise in a random discussion thread. I had been kicking around the idea of a Disney cruise, but didn't really want to go by myself, and when I clicked on that link, it seemed like a personal invitation!
Kelly was a font of information and was so patient with everyone's questions.

Secondly, thanks to @Disneyfalcon for all her hard work in putting this cruise all together. From room assignments, to dinner seating times to transportation, everything was spot on.

And finally, thanks to my better half for understanding and putting up with my Disney obsession. He doesn't really get it, but he's willing to listen to me ramble on about my vacation plans, and he had to listen to these plans for almost 2 years! Of course, I don't get his enjoyment of spending 2 weeks in Montana with no indoor plumbing every year hunting, either!

And now that that's out of the way, here goes! I don't have that many pictures, mainly because we were having too much fun to stop and take pictures, and it's easier to deny something if there is no pictorial evidence that the event actually happened! You know, what happens on the cruise ship, stays on the cruise ship!

I flew in on Saturday the 7th, and had decided to stay at the airport Hyatt the night before the cruise. I kicked around staying at a Disney resort, but I knew I'd have to spend time in the parks, too, and I was going there afterwards so I thought I'd save a couple bucks by staying at the airport. Then on one of our chats, we decided we should all meet for dinner that night as sort of an ice-breaker. I figured, no problem, I'll just take a taxi to the Grand Floridian, meet everyone, then head back after dinner. Time for Lesson #1 of What to Do Different the next time. ("Next Time" was a popular phrase on this cruise - somewhere, someone was supposed to be keeping a list of things to change for the next Girl's cruise!)

Anywho, after paying $75 EACH WAY for the taxi, I will be spending the next Cruise eve night at a Disney resort!

Dinner is Grand Floridian was fun and it was nice to start putting names to faces.

OK, I'm back but my internet is being contrary. Living in the country is great, but a reliable DSL connection isn't guaranteed.

So where was I - oh, yes, Castaway Cay and my birthday! I celebrated turning 56 (I know, looking at me you'd never believe it) and I gotta say this was one of the best birthdays ever! 2 years ago, I spent my birthday in Scotland looking for Nessie on Loch Ness - that was the best. Last year I spent my birthday on a plane flying home from Scotland after an unplanned trip, not such a hot way to spend the day but that's a story for another time. And this year, WOW! What a great time. My $75 share for the cabana was worth every penny. We relaxed, played cards, laughed until we cried, rang a bell and a cute guy brought us buckets of beer, what could be better? I can't wait to do it all over again next year!

I think we were some of the last people to head back to the boat. None of us wanted to leave the cabana. But it was Pirate party night so off we went to get ready. I didn't get any pictures of myself, but I think some of the other girls did. I can hope and pray they don't post any! I looked like a pirate on crack who had to shop for his clothes at the Goodwill store! My polka-dot bandana, my black & gold Pittsburgh Pirate tie-dye T-shirt (Go Buccos!), my red & black knee socks covered with skulls and my beloved red hi-top Converse sneakers. Oh, and a big ol' gold hoop earring! Yeah, I was really stylin'!

Dinner was at Animator's Palate which was really cool. I loved looking at all the artwork and watching the pictures change. I had a shrimp & pasta dish which was really good. The only thing that weirded me out was, after they served my meal, my server brought out a little plate, took all my shrimp off my plate, cut off the tails and took them out of the shell, then gave them back to me. I'm like, Hello, you couldn't have done that back in the kitchen? A couple of us got the same meal with the same treatment and we're all looking at each other with this dumbfounded look on our faces. And, I got another birthday button and a second special dessert. Yum,
yum!

The Pirate Party on deck was a lot of fun and the fireworks were amazing. Again, I didn't take any pictures - was too busy singing and dancing!

Afterwards we all headed up to Evolution for karaoke. Darolynn and Terryn were going to sing and we went up to cheer them along. Well, karaoke turned into Let's all Sing Along with the People on the Stage. Imagine, 20 lady pirates singing (and I use that term loosely) at the top of their lungs. And guess who turned up bringing us our drinks - same cute guy from the cabana! Well, that called for another round! Unfortunately, all good things must end and we eventually drug ourselves off to bed. Tomorrow would be another fun-filled day.

Sherry, when you ran thru our room in your pirate outfit it really did brighten my otherwise not-so-happy moment. I flippin' LOVED your outfit. Your description was hilarious. Seriously, I'm thinking I want to do something similarly fun next go around. I thought of it as a playful modern interpretation of the classic deck-swabbin' pirate. And I LOVED it!!!

He was a cutie! I found him standing all by his lonesome when I got back to the ship from Nassau. No line, no "friend", had to snag a passing passenger to get the photo.

Ok, here we go with more of the awesomeness that was the Dream Girls!
Wednesday - at sea day.
After all the Pirate excitement of the day before, Courtney and I decided to sleep in a little late. I was doing the Remy brunch so I didn't want breakfast anyway. So after I got moving and was up and dressed (which required major effort on my part) I had some time to kill, so I just wandered around the ship taking pictures and just enjoying all the attention to detail. This ship was just so fantastically decorated, all the little hidden Disney treasures, you could spend all day and not see everything.
Then I headed up for our special champagne brunch at Remy with @Disneyfalcon, @Tiggerish and @polymissy. We met out server and the chef and had a little sample of champagne, then they explained what we would be eating and the champagnes that would be paired with each course.
The appetizer course was something with lobster, then we had a dish made with sea bass, finished off with a filet. Yummy champagnes to go with everything, topped off with the truly decadent desserts. And our server wasn't too hard on the eyes, either! I came away stuffed to the gills with a pleasant little buzz!

Here we all are with a giant bottle of champagne - no we didn't drink all of it.....
