The League of Dreamers - An Imagineering Contest

Hey, this is MouseketeerCole - I'm having to use my old account because it's not letting me post messages without a moderator checking them first for some reason =S... no idea why its never needed it before. Anyway, haha - I'd love to join in if there's a new team starting. Oh ... and two...

    Beastlie Kingdomme Site Plan

Actually in one version of the ride, the 4-wide sitting coaster design was used. See the fourth image (the one of the dragon) here: http://www.theneverlandfiles.com/tnf/disneyworld/dragontower.php

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Are you able to say what it would have included, Eddie? What were its 'attractions'? Exploration? Would guests have solved puzzles? I think LOST Island would have worked for Discovery Island too, if it had been built a few seasons back.

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

There have been times when I've got off an attraction (primarily Duel at Alton Towers theme park and Lost Kingdom Adventure and Legoland CA), and literally have no memory of the show scenes inside the attraction because all I was doing was zoning in on the flashing targets. It's certainly an...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Let me clarify my own position here; I think you are assuming I'm saying attractions like Midway Mania ARE interactive. Firstly, I do think most Disney attractions (Pirates, Mansion) are passive; the guest quite simply does nothing to contribute to or influence the attraction, they are solely...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

In that case, if you don't mind a few more comments, Eddie, I'll give a couple more thoughts :). In reply to Tirian, when you said that "films cannot literally drop you down a flume, walk you through haunted hallways, or give you whiplash", I totally agree - I only intend my argument to apply...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

I have to apologise in advance for the huge lengths of my posts! I'm working on my university dissertation at the moment, on a subject very similar to this, and the issue gets the cogs in my head working overtime. I'll post my thoughts here, but I've also published them over on my blog...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

The biggest problem I see with screens is that if you move about, the two-dimensionality immediately becomes obvious (even with 3D movies). The Spiderman ride at IoA dealt with this superbly by moving the 'camera' filming each screen when it was recorded in accordance with the ride vehicle so...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

I thought exactly the same thing, Randy. Disneyland can compete with cinemas, but I have no idea how they'd compete with fully realised virtual reality. Thankfully that's a long way off, and who knows what may come along in the meantime.

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Ah the mystery is solved! Thanks for highlighting my thoughts to everyone reading, and posing the question that got me writing. The future of themed entertainment is really interesting to me - so many threats, but so many possibilities. When I get time a little later this evening, I plan on...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Hi! I'm the guy who wrote the Disneyology blog --- (I actually have no idea how you found it Eddie as I haven't intended to promote it at all yet!). The version there was just a first draft and I've rewritten it now to the final version I was hoping to link to here. Anyway, here's the link...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

I've always wondered what Disney tactics were for dealing with these unconnected shop/restaurant 'islands' - at least when there's no utilidors. How does Disneyland Paris' Main Street deal with this, Eddie?

Disney, Marvel & Universal's Tangled Web

I'm a big Disney fan, and my friend is a big Marvel fan. I have to say, it was rather fun being able to say "my company bought your company :p". He's taken the opinion, and tells me a number of comic fans share in the opinion, that Disney owning Marvel isn't bad as long as Disney let Marvel do...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

I think an Indiana Jones subland was planned for the area where Peril is now, which would have had the EMV ride from Disneyland pushed up against Pirates. There's still a lot of room there now. Similar to this, Eddie, do you know if there was a plan for a Toontown entrance on that sometimes...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

That's really interesting. I certainly see your point about the target audience being mismatched to the ride system. As for it being based on a 'banned' film, I don't really mind that too much; to most people, they just think its an original (non-source based) attraction, and that's not a bad...

I'm curious, Eddie, what's your criticism with Splash Mountain?

    New York, New York Land

I'll throw some comments your way :) First, I wonder if you've taken a look at the 'Big City USA' ideas & plans that were drawn up for Disneyland CA a few decades ago that would have gone behind Fantasyland, and later inspired the American Waterfront at Tokyo DisneySeas. Like yours, it...

Do Mickey and Minnie already have a new home?

Mickey doesn't do Town Square meet & greets?? I did not know that, guess I'm too used to Disneyland. Thanks for correcting me!

Do Mickey and Minnie already have a new home?

Am I right in thinking that Hong Kong Disneyland had a (maybe temporary) Mickey's House right off the hub?

Do Mickey and Minnie already have a new home?

I love that Fantasyland is taking over the what-should-have-been-temporary Toontown Faire (which reeeally doesn't match up to its West coast equivalent), and think its a wise choice moving the classic character meet and greet point to the Exhibition Hall, but there is one thing I think is a...
