  • Thank God for that manager! I hate that feeling when you felt like you've lost something at WDW...for me it was my roomkey (several times) but it turned out just to be the placement of the card in my wallet, or the wallet in the duffel bag I brought.

I remember you telling me about the Gators-Seminoles game. I couldn't imagine that stress! I felt the same way about the scooters. We take a happy approach to our vacations, but waiting for the bus to load/unload got irritating when we were in a rush.

Have you ever or anyone in your family been sick at WDW? I couldn't imagine how that would feel.
I have an external hard drive for all of my media, like music and photos. (Trust me, I take A LOT of photos elsewhere on a more regular basis.)

The best moment of my trip...I'm not sure. It all blends after a while. The last night on vacation where I headed into the MK by myself was a highlight. Without family dragging me away I was free to go wherever I want. (Is it terrible of me to say that most of the funnest moments I had were without family?) :lookaroun

Thankfully, we haven't had a bad experience at WDW. After six trips, I would've thought our hotel room would've been bad, one of of us would get sick, etc. but it all came out alright. We've had tense moments (like deciding between Impressions de France or IllumiNations) but nothing that Disney could've helped with. What about your family?
It's not a hard res to get (CaliGrill) as long as you call right at 180 day out mark & at 8a.m. when the lines open We have our res at 730 pm., figure seated by 740--la la la waiting on staff LOL eat around 815 slowly (ha) & out topside by 9! I know it gets busy out there sometimes according to sis - Due to later dinner res, we eat a later lunch - no probl!

I take TONS of photos! 2008, the 1st trip w/Linds, close to 400...last year - close to 700!! HEY I have a lot of photos to take over 8 days ha! & i'm can't do the put em' online in photobuckets-I download them to CD(s) at work, take the cd's to walgreens when coupon specials are running, get them to print them all Then I start on a Friday night putting them in stacks by the dates (we do 1 pk a day) & then they go into photo albums. I wrote on ea page so that it's like I'm actually talking to Linds & taking her thru a tale - dorky but hey I won't be here forever so I KNOW she'll treasure them!
As long as I am close I'll be happy! I like the food court there also & the gift shop is to die for! The more options I'm given-the better ha! Nope never had a pizza delivered. Had opportunities but usually we aren't that hungry by the time we get to the room because we've had an awesome table service meal somewhere. If Linds is hungry we get some snacks or whatever since it's way past dinner. Plus I bring some down with us.) Most excited about - probably dinner at Cali Grill at Contemporary & fireworks from the 15th floor observation deck. VERY psyched about that. PLUS breakfast with all the princesses in the castle the morning we leave to come home-not happy about the coming home part..just breakfast with the princesses LOL Plus Linds has been wanting this particular event for TWO years now - yeah! We pretty much love everything Disney. Linds & I both eat up Epcot - we usually run around the World several times taking in all the sights & sounds, photo ops, stuff like that.
 I guess we all need a break from the chores of real-life...I'm happy you take advantage of this!

I have a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell! I sense myself getting a new avatar soon...

No, our family has never tried Shwetty Balls. Flagrant Nuts, on the other hand...:lookaroun

Thank you for the compliments! Unfortunately I'm not a writer (and if I was a professional one, there would be no way I'd be staying at deluxe WDW resorts every other year LOL) I have three full days of vacation left to go on my report, so yes there will be more ;). Thank goodness for those 1,600 pictures I took. There would be no other way for me to remember what we did! LOL

P.S. Be wary of Land Sharks...
The Venetian was to be built a few years after the park opened, but I believe the energy crisis was responsible for why it wasn't built. In the '90s, the Mediterranean Resort was supposed to have been built (I would guess the Venetian concept kicked the bucket due to the similarly-named Las Vegas casino) but there are a couple theories as to why the Med wasn't built. One of them is the sinkhole/negative skin friction theory (of which they drove test pilings down to see where they could reach bedrock) but found the site unsuitable. Given how far the design process went, I have my doubts about this story. The other theory is that the Med and Grand Floridian were to be built as twin five-star resorts, with the Med being built if the Grand Floridian reached five-star status. This never happend, so they lost the desire to build the Med. (It would've been beautiful.) There's your park history lesson of the day!
Well I think Music was done recently and Sports looked great when I was there 2 years ago...it appears Movies is the one not getting stroked! LOL I'm going to call and request the 60's building 4 or 5 top floor - my sis says that way you KNOW you'll be in the closest to the food court !!! Last year I was exhausted just walking from the back of the resort to the front (LMAO!!!) Not really but you catch my drift.
it was more of the neighbors..not the resort and we were in the farthest away building you can imagine! LOL Most of the Movies stories are it is in desperate need of a refurb and it's been forever so it's very old and run down....You must of been in a preferred room at POP then!
When was there going to be a Venetian/Mediterranean Resort going to be built? That would be gorgeous! It would have to be a deluxe, there's no way around that. Hmm, I've never heard about that one.

I don't even like to cook at home much less on vacation. And at Disney? I think that would be grounds for divorce!! LOL. No way, my vacation definitely consists of no cooking whatsoever!

I suppose if we ever truly considered a DVC it would be sometime waaay in the future.

I'm checking out your trip report right now!
We feel the same way about the finances/kitchen. It just seems like too much money, plus like you we'd want to be able to check out other hotels. On top of that, having a kitchen would be kind of useless for us...we want to take a vacation from cooking, too! We've joked about getting a DVC, but I don't think we'd go through with it.

A DVC at the Grand Floridian would be awesome! I'm not a huge fan of the Contemporary's decor, so I would have to go with either the Beach Club or Boardwalk. If the Polynesian ever built one, maybe there, too. But my dream DVC would be if they built something on that area between the Contemporary and TTC. The land was previously going to be the site of Disney's Venetian and Mediterranean Resorts. If they built something like that there, that'd be so cool.

By the way, have you had a chance to check out my trip report? If not, you can read it here. http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=620870 :)
That would be wonderful - 10 days at Disney over CHRISTMAS!!! I wish! lol I might have to take a solo trip some year - ha ha!

OMG you are gonna die...My sister goes down to Orlando (WDW only) no less then 6x a year - you think I'm crazy for WDW? she wrote the book LOL Anyways, she said...Lisa...You have GOT to get out of Movies!!! All I keep hearing are horror stores...POP just underwent a total refurb ---sooo what did I do? Just got off the phone with Disney. Moved to POP in a preferred room LOL for our same dates of course. I'm willing to give POP another try! I can't beleive I just did that!!! LOL
Well I'm not seeing you get arrested with that sign..I mean the guy by KSU holds up all sorts of signs on a daily basis (you seen him? the homeless guy with the bike...accusing all women of being whores LOL that and we are all going to hell LOL) - anyways, see him every day as I pass by on my way home...he never gets arrested. And nobody honks at him or even acknowledges he's there so I guess you won't get arrested either! LOL

Oh I never give up dreaming...I am dreaming I can pull off a week in Hawaii next year and take a break from Disney. That way when we go back in 2012 the Fantasy Land Expansion will be complete and we can eat in Beauty and the Beasts castle! LOOLLL

This chicken and broc lean pocket I'm having just ain't doing it for me today! LOL
That's my biggie too! Crossing thru the redlight then having your big car sticking out blocking everyone else! LOL I mean helloo!!! WAIT A MINUTE! that & people who almost side swipe you or move into your lane without looking cause you know...THEY'RE ON THE FREAKING CELL PHONE! lol I have a running thing with "myself" - first person that hits me while they are yacking on their phone I'm gonna slug LMAO!

A lady from these boards (Shelley) is in WDW right now. This is her 2nd full day down there - MK yesterday & AK today. She went with DH & DD. She's really sweet. I can't remember her "name" on here but I'll find it out. She loves hooking up with Disney lovers. Doesn't push herself on you or anything. I'm actually friends with her on FB - she's from VA! So my point being....she keeps emailing thru her droid photos to her FB - Im SO jealous! Oh that & she is staying at Boardwalk. I couldn't afford that even if I hooked for a living LOL!!!! I'm a value kinda gal :-)
I have debated the DVC question in my mind quite a few times. We couldn't do it now for financial reasons but I have thought about it. The thing is I want to try out most of the hotels on property before I'd do a DVC. Also, I'm definitely not a person who cares at all about having a kitchen or a lot of room. We spend very little time in our room so a regular hotel room is fine. Plus, we've always done vacation packages and been able to use some sort of promotion each time we've gone. Promotions don't usually apply if you're just getting tickets and the dining plan. So, I don't know. Even if we could I still debate it whether I'd want to.

As for property, I suppose I'd go with GF first, when they finally get one. Then after that maybe the Beach Club, Boardwalk or Contemporary. How bout you?
You can't beat the ToT ones, especially when you're standing in an air-conditioned building all day, it must keep you warm.

In light of the recent discussion topic, have you guys ever considered DVC? If so, where would you buy it?
I forgot about those pesky costumes. The Grand Floridian really hits home on the authenticity, but at what expense of the cast?

I never thought much about that, but now that you mention it there are probably many CM's who don't care about their costumes, or just hate wearing them. If my friends saw me wearing a khaki explorer's costume for the Jungle Cruise, I'd never be able to live it down. What do you think is the worst costume to wear?
Wow that is terrible about your accident! I feel these days with so many more people (which of course means more cars) we take our lives into our hands on a daily basis - it does get scary! And yes, he was trying to cross the lanes and just "assumed" because a car in one lane stopped....the car in the other lane would stop. NOPE!

So Tristan goes with orchestra this year. That's cool! Lindsay gets to go NEXT school year! She plays the cello and has taken to it very well! It's a beautiful string instrument if you ask me. What does Tristan play? OH and Linds would DIE if I volunteered to chaperone - I mean literally lol
 Nah, that doesn't sound bad at all! I get what you're saying. But I think sometimes adults can act as wild or rude as little kids do, too (especially when you're working the front desk of a hotel where you have the potential to deal with difficult people, though I guess that's for wherever you work). I guess you would work at the Grand Floridian? :)
OH I wish I had only 6 weeks left!!! I have 82 days from today!! We leave November 20th and come back the 27th....(so Saturday to Saturday - yeah!) However, 6 weeks sounds better LOL I get excited all year with the planning and such...I am THE biggest Disney Dork LMAO!!! Linds builds during the year...It starts off "oh mom we JUST got back! lol"...now that we are under 90 days she is a little more willing to look at menus and photos and such....by the one week out mark she actually talks Disney and when we see the Welcome To Disney World sign she kicks in full gear - it's actually pretty funny.

Saw a really bad accident while I was at Kauffman Tire on Wade Green - some guy who JUST got his car fixed tried to turn left into all the oncoming traffic and BOOM! He was ok - his car was totalled. The car he hit had 4 passengers....3 walked away and one was coherent but on a stretcher so luckily not too too serious so to speak.
I'd also like to work with custodial. I'm a bit obsessive-compulsive about cleaning, so walking around the parks all day (Ah, bliss) picking up trash and keeping things clean seems awesome to me. One job I would hate to have...hmm...probably food service or operating certain attractions, like shows where you have to see the same show all of the time. What about yourself?
