 Will wonders never cease!

I think they should fire Rasolu and put me and enderikari in charge of parks & resorts. I'll be Walt and you can be Roy! (or I'll be Eisner and you can be Wells if you prefer)

I don't even want to think what it would be like at WDW if someone from this board took over!

Walt Disney World : The Vacation Museum of the World

"Where Everythings Frozen in Time"

"Come see EPCOT Center, where old logos and capital spelling are key!"

"Get your photo taken with our new mascot, Clarabell Cow!"

"Witness our nighttime spectacular Illuminations: Burn Pixar Burn ( w/ a hypocritical tribute to John Lassetter )!"

Umm, not everyone. There are a few who would have a few things to say about priorities and where to spend what money where it`s most needed.

And possibly have a management spring clean.

This thread is retarted. I just saw a YOAMD commercial 5 minutes ago.:ROFLOL:

OK..I am sensitive on this issue since I have a mentally retarded daughter...I do not think it was necessary to use that word, but if you are ,at least spell it correctly or you are the one who looks retarded!!:fork:

"retarted"????????

as in, we have another pastry?
as in, another lady of the night???

I think he meant the thread was kind of slutty?

And before anyone says anything, I have no problems with sluts so if anyone has a daughter who is one then no offense intended!

Sorry, just had to say that, but I agree with Trish and people using that word does irritate me a lot even when it is spelled correctly.

Take this as official:

The Year of A Million Dreams has been extended another year.

I just finished a professional internship in June, and around May it was announced to our business unit (which does a lot with YOMD) that it will be extended due to it's success.

All I'm saying is certain people have gained a lot more influence over the last month and others have lost theres, and marketing schemes seem to have changed since June.

Don't feel too badly about it. My wife and I were married at Disney last December and stayed at AKL for well over a week. Although 'dreams' were awarded all around us (several times in front of us while in line in fact), we didn't get jack squat! After dropping some serious coin there to bring my family down, etc., that stung quite a bit. I realize that it's never a given that you'll receive a 'dream', but you certainly shouldn't go there expecting it!

:drevil:

To me, this represents everything that is wrong with the YOAMD campaign. No one should go in expecting something, whether you're spending thousands staying at the GF, or a few bucks visiting locally with your AP. Disney tried to provide some extra magic for their guests, but unfortunately there are always those who will feel cheated.

I think that it is really silly of disney to do this, so an ad campiagn ends up putting them in the hole once in god knows how many years get over it it's called being a business trust me I know I'm about to take over a business! But lemme get to my point here why waste even more money to pay people to take all the crap down and all the fees they will have to pay to have the ads removed from their websites and tv networks nation and worldwide, I mean why can't they just seem to say ok we messed up, lets not extend this another year as we orginally planned lets just let this play out and hope that it becomes a distant memory in all of always returning guests minds. I understand that as of now this is just being done in DL or DLR w/e but still. An ad campiagn is just that a campiagn, its like when someone campiagns for President for example does that mean they will be president nope it means they tried and might in fact fail just like this campiagn seems to be doing. Basically the way I am looking at this is that Disney is once again gonna go blow more money that they could use somewhere else by re-vamping or canceling this campiagn... *breathes* there I'm done

I never go on any Disney vacation with the expectation of anything extra. I go with the expectation of enjoying everything that they have to offer on a daily basis. For this trip, I don't expect to actually get anything extra, but the selling point of the promo is that there is the "possibility" of more, which is really cool and works for me. We have as yet to go to WDW without having some sort of extra pixie dust be showered upon us. They set us up to DREAM of the POSSIBILITIES, so I have.

Sorry that you feel that you were slighted, but a usual day at WDW is way better than even the best day that I have anywhere else. I love the place. Maggie

I'm coming to this thread late, so this may have been covered.

As I am told, the YoaMD isn't being cancelled, it simply won't be extended beyond this initial phase. Some advertising and decorations will be going away.
What IS being killed off (thankfully) seems to be Rasulo's global parks structure. I'm hearing that has been totally put out if it's misery. Expect the "Where Dreams Come True" and "Disney Parks" promo stuff to disappear.

First of all, I'll be the first to admit...I DON'T KNOW A DAMN THING!

I don't know anybody in management, I don't know any Imagineers, I don't even know a single monorail driver! So everything *I* say is just a hunch. Feel free to say you think I'm wrong, but at least I'm honest. :D

First of all, I do think it'd be worse P.R. to cancel the contest prematurely than it would be to continue it, even if some people in management don't seem to care for it. They might have a stipulation in their rules and regs that says WDW retains the right to change the rules and regs, and I'm sure few if anybody is still planning a vacation based on the YoaMD, but you know some people would make a fuss that that's the reason they scrimped and saved to pay to get to WDW just for the chance they might win a night in the castle and blah blah blah play the violin a little louder, please, and now damn it you owe me an upgrade to the Poly or GF. Better to just quietly phase the contest out when it was originally scheduled. No big to-do about how the contest is almost over and time is running out to win big big prizes, but not a flat-out cancellation either.

I think of the promotion of the contest as I would promoting a new fall series. The series has pretty much run its course, they're burning off what's left. You don't often see commercials for repeats of your favorite series during the summer anymore, and this is pretty much the same thing. Promote new ideas, new concepts and, if you have 'em, new promotions.

However, it seems that YoaMD got a lot of positive feedback amongst a lot of guests. So my hunch is that, rather than have the contest extended, or dropped and forgotten, there will continue to be an ongoing "Dream Squad," giving away prizes big and small, from ears to free meals to shirts & hats and occasionally bigger things like resort upgrades and maybe even still nights in the castle once in a while. And of course, "Dream Passes." Lots of Dream passes, which everyone wants and really don't cost anything.

And they will promote the "Dream Squad" as an attraction in and of itself, something you can't wait on line for, something you won't find on a map or on a schedule, something that finds YOU. Because it'll be considered an added value promotion, and not a contest, they can then drop it whenever they want, but really, most of the "dreams" will be very inexpensive, and I'm sure marketing figures you'll still spend money on souveniers, so if you were gonna buy mouse ears, and you then won mouse ears, you'll spend that money on a shirt or something else, like a BOGO offer.

And let's face it, they'll probably more than cover the cost of giving away those items in the next ticket price increase.

There's no need to fear, Lee is finally here!

Thanks for clearing this up Lee, you are a saint.

So essentially Rasulo's entire plan for the division has just been scrapped?
