World of Color?

hm, I don't know.. my guess is it probably won't affect the screens. it looks like it will be a blanket of fog across the water, the screens will be way higher. Steve has said that at some points in the show they will be projecting onto nothing - i don't know if it's even possible to project onto fog? :lookaroun

it will be interesting to see how all the effects work together once the show opens :)

Very interesting, because when a new IllumiNations was being worked on for EPCOT (The "SkyDance", it's dead now. ) I was told that that was a issue...They couldn't get the smoke to stay in one place and then decipate for the lasers they wanted to use.

Maybe they perfected it here...This was several years ago, already.

Another video update from Fantasmiceddie24, kinda hard to see the details but it once again gives a better feel of the work going on.

Looks like some testing going on tonight, DCA closed at 6pm tonight. Good thing about closing at this time gives them more time to test with out the public.

ooh, the light towers by Paradise Park (the ones inside the globes) they look nice! that's the first time i've seen pictures of them testing those.

and I wonder where he was standing where he heard the soundtrack playing? DCA closed at 6pm.. I wonder if you could hear it from outside the park? :lookaroun

So Close is supposed to be part of the Transformation scene, really looking forward to that as well!

As I said, very cool.. But I want more concept art+details! I think the mist screen tech is a given, I want to know what else they will borrow from the DCA show. I'm glad they went with a new show as opposed to a direct WoC clone.

Well, I'm thinking they'll theme it to the SEA. :D Much like they wanted to make a Hollywood Fant! for DHS...

Well the press release mentions Aladdin and Cinderella being featured in the show, so i'm not sure if they're going for a sea theme.. I'm curious as to how they will incorporate Cinderella into the show!

Defiantly interesting.

Thanks!

Wow!!! the color is so vibrant!!! Thanks for posting them here Sponono!

I know, it looks so vibrant on the computer monitor.. can't imagine how much brighter it looks in real life! very impressive. and last week it was reported on MiceChat that they have been installing glitter strobe lights on each fountain. that should make for a nice effect :)

Aladdin fits with the Arabian theme they have for one of the ports. Cindy? Odd...Dunno about that.

good point. forgot about Arabian Coast.. I have a TDS map I got at the D23 Expo, Genie is prominently featured as the land's mascot in the logo :) They have very nice guidemaps. Very detailed booklet, w/ full descriptions for each attraction! Too bad I don't understand any of it

With only 2-3 months away from the debut of WoC, it's interesting to see how much progress has been made so far. I remember the days when all we had was a simple blue barge floating out in the middle of the lagoon!

DisneyInsider has an article on World of Color, including an interview with show producer Sayre Wiseman. Doesn't exactly reveal any new information but still worth a read:

How Imagineers Teach the Colors to Dance

Picture more than 1,200 powerful fountains dancing in elaborate choreographed patterns, fire effects, fog, lasers, and stunning color displays, all set to stirring music — and topped with animation "painted" on to screens of moving water! It's "World of Color," and it will be lighting up the nights at California Adventure Park starting late this year.
...

One unusual feature of the show is the use of animated images projected on "screens" of water — a technique used elsewhere, but never on this scale ("World of Color" boasts the world's largest projected water screen — a wall of water 380 feet wide by 50 feet high). New animation has been created especially for the show, with sequences starring everyone from "Alice in Wonderland" to Heimlich the Caterpillar from Disney·Pixar's "A Bug's Life."
...

However, the show is far more than "a movie on water." Sayre says, "John Lasseter really encouraged us not just have the Guests watch a movie, but to use all these tools to tell a story in a new way. The music is so powerful, and we want to encourage the audience to use their imagination!" She points especially to the score composed by Mark Hammond and performed by a London orchestra as a lavish invitation to set Guests' imaginations free.

I can't believe it never occurred to me before what an amazing view some of the guests at the Grand Californian will have of this show. Lucky ducks!
