You heard right. It is a Steve Davison joint and will likely debut in late 2015 or early 2016 and be a whole lot more than just pyro.
That always worries me. When there is a lot more to it than pyro, it gives a great reason to reduce the pyro, and then we end up with projections. They may be on water, castle walls, or who knows what, but they are still projections and don't have the impact of fireworks - at least for me.

Ugh, and create more and more congestion in the Hub, if it's projections and the like. Yet more reason for them to remove trees. Boo to that. Need more, and higher, air launch, pyro. Less projection.

Happy 2014 @wdwmagic !!!

I wouldn't worry too much. MK has always been known for pyro and I don't see them greatly reducing it, although it is way too soon in the process to know for sure.

That said, I'd swap Wishes for DLP's Dreams anytime ...great Disney music with amazing projections, pyro, fountains and lasers beats moppets singing for me.

I also greatly enjoyed their Dreams of Christmas version, although their own locals apparently like the original much more according to a source I spoke with at the resort.

And to you! Hope you had a good festive season!

For me, MK night shows should be about huge pyro. Really make use of that remote firing station and fallout area to do shows that can't be done anywhere else.

Projections, lasers, water - they can all be done at Fant and RoE - both of which are in desperate need of refreshing.

The night shows need to have their own identity, and not all end up being projection based. Paris is a different proposition due to their issues with any large pyro. And being the only nightshow it works for them to try and do the full compliment of effects all in one show.

Wishes, Illuminations and Fantasmic can be replaced. I've never really bonded with Fantasmic and the ordeal to view just adds to my indifference. Wishes and Illuminations I love however something is lost when it no longer brings the Awe it once did.

I'd be all in for new shows IF Disney allows imagineers to create something new to replace them all with the quality we expect and Fantasmic with a show that can actually operate reliably, Fantasmic has always had its bugs that crashes elements or cancels shows, Disney can do better.

I also love Wishes but it is time to move on. The fireworks at DL are much lower level and smaller than the fireworks at MK, and of course the fireworks in the round they do for special occasions aren't even attempted. Of course DL has a couple of huge disadvantages, the clear air board Nazis hate fireworks in general and the people who move to Anaheim to be close to Disney then complain about the noise on nights they don't feel like fireworks.

Fireworks are to projections what animatronics are to 3-D screens. Not saying you can't have the latter in small doses, but the former are what says "THIS is a world-class theme park."

The complaints about the air don't stop fireworks at Disneyland from going on.

I really enjoy when they project things onto the castle, but I don't want a new show to come about that removes a majority of the fireworks. Disney is know for their spectacular nighttime shows. keep it that way.

Me too. There's concern amongst some in the MK about the additional fallout area of NFL and ash and debris littering the mermaid queue area and other pretty areas.

Perish the thought they use this as an excuse to limit anything rooftop launched.
