Wine and Dine Half-Marathon

Yes. I fyou go by their map it would be inside AK. I dont think so. Plus, it would have to be around the 6.5 mark correct? I think that is why I put that exit the way I did so it would put the relay area in a large open space.

According to their loose map, it is at mile 5.

No the relay is being divided by a 5 mile course and 8.1 mile course. So the map is correct. The handoff will happen at mile 5.

IE: Im concerned about when we come back down Osceola after leaving AK, their map shows a double back around mile 7.75 into 8. I just dont know why they would do this instead of making us doing that distance in AK parking lot or DHS parking lot. A double back would just be bad. I could be wrong.

That is their favorite double back!! It appears to be the same one in the full marathon. They do like those double backs though. They had one in the ToT 13k course as well. They usually seem to prefer to do distance on roads, and only go through parking lots when necessary.

Oh wow... I didnt know that. Holy cow. that is going to interesting. Looks liek the only area, and this goes to the map, is right past Nemo Theater and in front of the yellow dinosaur

Ok. So it is safe to assume they would have to take over all of Osceola parkway to accommodate an "out" to AK, a "back" from AK and then a "double back" top to the entry ramp to World Drive.

Not really. The out, yeah. Since that is still fairly early in the race they may close the whole road. But the back should be thinning out by mile 5/6, so they can drop it down to probably a single lane.

When they do the double back, it is usually a single lane, with a closed "on ramp". If I remember correctly the double back turns around at the point where the "on ramp"/turning lane starts. So they don't take up extra space.

Glad you are joining us Doug. This shall be a fun night. Hopefully, since i have a sober driver (Disney Trans), I can have a few really good beers after the race. The exhaustion from a long week a WDW and the race should make me a true light weight. :D

Ok guys. I know how excited we all are. I have worked up what I think the course will be using the vague course map (which I think some of the markers are way off), a little predictability and some suggestions from 2 locals (Thanks Zac and Doug). Now, this is all my own interpretation. Please fell free to make comments or suggestions due to experience in WDW races and what their style is.

Lets discuss.

My pleasure. Im just very dissapointed that I dont have it 100% right. I think that im close. I looked LONG and HARD at all potential solutions of where they will send us and this is my best guess.

As stated before, I really like to know my course were there are no 1/10 surprise here or even like at Talladega, I forgot that we went into the infield through the tunnel and ran 1 complete lap to finish the 13.1 (which the tri-oval at Talledega is 2.66 miles for 1 lap). I knew we still had 2 or 3 miles to go, but visually, when I saw the other runners like a little ant trail leading around one more time, it mentally beat me down.

I've never been emailed the form. It was always waiting at the registration area at WWoS waiting with the other paperwork you have to fill out.

Hey there Zac. Long time. How is the new addition? I bet yall are super busy and a bit tired.

Ok, I just recall reading that the form would be emailed and they wouldnt offer any at registration (which is crazy if you ask me). BUT, whatever, I just want to know either way. I hope Im not crazy in remembering it that way.

BTW, look at the W&D MnG thread I started. Do you have any input on that? Have you started a race at WDW that the start was at WWoS?

I have usually been emailed a form, or been provided with an address to go online to fill out/print at home. From what I saw at marathon weekend in January, they didn't physically have paper forms at the expo, but computers where you would fill it out and then print it out like you did at home.

Well, the forms you need to fill out if someone else is picking up your packet have been posted, and they explicitly mention bringing the waiver form already filled out. So those should be going up/emailed out soon I would imagine.

All forms are up up Disney's website, including all waivers, final race instructions, brochures, event programs, etc. The event program is about 30 pages and includes a ton of details about the weekend, the race, and the course, including relay points and how the exchange will happen for the 2-person teams. All forms are printable and ready to go.
