Wow, that's a low number!

I'm 3592. I thought it would be higher given my registration from the wait list, but there you have it.

I think I once had a low number like that for the inaugural Expedition: Everest race, but I've gotten used to the marathon weekend numbers which are usually in the 35,000 range.

And yeah, as much as we want all aspects of Walt Disney World to be a well oiled machine, they show their feet of clay all the time!
35,000. Geeezzz. That is a lot of people in a race. Im glad Im getting my virgin disney race fix on one that isnt that big. That is a bit overwhelming.

The only difference between my number and yours is a 5... or, if you look at it differently, 3200. I cant imagine their only being 3,500 racers at the cap since you were on a hold list, but maybe. I guess we will see.

400 here. Which makes me think the numbers have nothing to do with the corral placement. Unless my time really puts in me in the first 400 or so to cross the line......
I registered a 1:44:32 best time. Imnot sure what yours is or what you registered, but if Im expected to finish 392, the pressure is on.

That is just stupid. Why wont they let you buy any increment you want up to 14 days or so... oh, wait, that is right. They want you to opt for the 10 day and they get you in the park an additional 1 or 2 days. Well, they lose in your brothers case.

I can buy discounted tickets through my job, and it is the same thing.

We can buy something like 3,4,5 or 10 day tickets, and your choices are base tickets, or waterparks fun and more with hopper.

I think it has to do with what the re-seller wants to buy in bulk. I can still get tickets through work at a discount based on the OLD rates, before the last raise. We must have bought a block of them, and still have them left. Oddly enough, you go through my company's internal site, which then punches out to a Disney site in order to buy them.

And my race # is 5335 (go palindromes !)

I think the race # is such a mis-mosh.

For the Princess Race in March, my bf and registered at the exact same time from two different computers, put in the exact time expected to finish the race and not only were our number not even close (5892/7509) we were in different corrals.

For the W&D, my bib # is 10355. But I'm doing the relay with my hubby and I think I read that relay numbers started at 10,000.

Very Interesting stuff on the race numbers. I think i like 392 instead of something like 13,726. The smaller number the better.

Yeah, numbers don't mean much.

I'm up in the 10,300 range, too, since I'm doing the relay with my dad.

The exchange should be interesting.

It almost looks like a NASCAR pit row. Im glad they have a special area away from the main course. I wish our local event would see this and take notice. They just have tents 5 feet from the street. Talk about potential bottle neck.

Heh. Sounds like its pretty close then. I think I used my half from January, which was about a 1:45 or so. Means you are gonna be my rabbit? ; )

I was just a little surprised to be drafted in the top 5%. Pretty sure my half in January placed me more in like 15% with a similar estimated finish time.

I'm race number 426. I will be wearing my yellow livestrong shirt.

Feel free to draft. I'll be hiding behind jmaxwell007 it sounds like.

If we all are looking for a 8ish minute pace, I wouldnt mind obviously identifying yall at the MnG if you can make it and we push to keep that pace. I had a rabbit my last race at Talladega and kept up with him until the last 1/10. Then I just ran as hard as I could and passed him.

Sounds like my normal strategy.

I may try to do the MnG, but I don't see anything in that thread that makes it obvious how we will find each other. Maybe someone local gets a couple purple helium balloons? Or something that can stand out?

Not sure whether or not any of you consider this "news," but I think I do. Up until now all of the copy I've seen regarding the after party has said something to the effect of "note that attractions and shows will be limited due to Epcot closing to day guests at 9:00pm."

Well, I just got an email with general info, and it blatantly says that "attractions will be closed."

Ugh. Nice. Guess I'll be getting my "drink" and "bite" then going to bed.

Im with you Zac. I just dont see how it cant hurt to have AA and Maelstrom open. At least those.

Ill be on the tail end of a 4 day vacation, a half marathon... I think my bed will be calling my name.

EDIT: Do we consider the countries attractions or just supporting shows that are in the countries, in other words will the countries be open?

Here's exactly what the email says:

"After the race, celebrate at one of the 26 kiosks of the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival! Entertainment will be provided around the World Showcase throughout the party. Please note that attractions will be closed."

I'm betting the interior of all of the countries will be closed. We'll just get a couple of merch shops, and then the F&WF kiosks.

That really stinks. I have two friends of mine going to this party.

They want to go because they want stuff to do while they wait for me to finish. But they do plan on sampling a lot of stuff. They are happy with that because they figure the lines will be less.

Yuck. That really defeats the point of the party. The prices for the prior picnics seemed reasonable, 3 tastes and a drink for $20 is close to what you would pay at the booths during a regular park day. But expecting people to pay $35 for 1 taste and 1 drink? That is a serious disconnect in pricing. When you pay for a day at the park, you still get rides and attractions for that extra admission cost. With this event, you get nothing much for that extra $20 or so. ($35 - $15 for food) I doubt the "entertainment" will be that entertaining, or worth the extra $20 per ticket. I think they seriously over estimated the appeal of people eating and drinking at 11 at night. At least in this particular format. It may end up costing the same as one of the Taste for the Senses parties, but those (I think) have a better environment.

This "Party" has sounded like a rip off since inception. Our only hope is that Disney losses money on it and learns their lesson for next year. Charging people $35.00 to come into a park with no open attractions? Their basically trapping a bunch of family and friends and suckering them into buying a bunch of over-priced snack foods. It's a shame.

Like I said in a previous post, my wife and son will be at the finish line (which is outside the park and free to stand at) cheering me and everyone else on. I'll get my medal, quickly check out the area and get out of Dodge. I couldn't stomach any booze or spicey foods after a 13 mile run anyway. Give me my bagel, banana and Power Ade and I'm a Happy Camper! :)
