Medal was revealed, too. Looks really nice.
I was at dinner and got the email on my iphone. Holy Cow. I wanted to leave right there.

The medals look awesome and I, being OCD, will have ot get on an aerial map and plot this map in down time at work. Probably use mapmyrun so i can post and share.

WOOT WOOT

Course looks great. This has me pumped all over again! The medals are always cool, but I'm extra excited about Spaceship Earth being the focus. VERY cool!
You aren't kidding. I just cant wait.

I like the SSE tie in too. Just love it.

I got it on my phone, too. I immediately opened up the laptop and downloaded it.

Make sure you post the map if you map it out. I'd love to see that.

This definitely provides a little extra motivation! I am very pleased with the medal design, it looks great! I can't quite make out the charms hanging on the bottom of the medal. Can anyone tell what they are?

And it is really exciting to see the course mapped out. I'd already kind of figured mile 7/8 was going to be the make-it-or-break-it period for me, and seeing where it is on the course makes me more sure of that! I think if I can just make it to DHS, I'll be okay!

Ok Zac. Im excited to do it.

It will be within a few tenths of a mile or either negative or positive side. Even with this detailed map, it is debatable on exactly how you will enter the AK parking lot and exit. I have already looked at the map and I think I have a good idea, but it will be close.

I want to start on this tonight, but realistically, it will be tomorrow. I have a adult beverage and a DVR episode of Tosh.O to watch. I need some down time.

I think the first one is cheese and the second one kinda looks like a runner's foot maybe? No clue about the third one.

Yes, mile 7/8 and to be honest 2/3 are bad... but maybe the runners will provide some good scenery.

Im working on putting this course into a mapmyrun style format. I have completed mapping the course using what Disney provided as a course map, the written description and a little experience with how a race flow would work best in certain areas so I hope to have it up in a day or two for us to look at.

Some of the course will be subjective since they gave us a general path in some areas. I have Zac (Main Street USA) to help look at this before posting live.

Huh. So there is a person in each corral that will run that pace so you can keep up with them etc. That is very nice. I havent been involved in a race of this magnitude (attendance). That is really nice. I hope they have someone doing this for this one.

Most distance racers will have pacers. All the local 1/2s I have done have them. Usually holding up signs, or carrying balloons, some way to find them and tell what pace they are doing. Some are much more professional than others, but that really depends on the race and the organizers.

Disney didn't have any pacers for the Princess Half last year, I was looking for them too, disappointing.

Really? Thats a shame. I know that Clif is doing the Disneyland half a few weeks before so I was hoping they would do this as well. Their crew is great with motivation and I was hoping to knock another 10-15 minutes off my current pace.

In running the half marathon in 2009 and the full in 2010, I never understood it was Disney providing the pace groups. I understood entities like Team in Training took that on for themselves and their runners.

The "official" pacers at the 2 fulls I have done at WDW were provided by Clif bar. Not sure if Disney hired them, or Clif pays Disney, or if its a mutually symbiotic relationship. They have a booth in the expo passing out wrist bands with the times on them and displaying pictures of the pacers. But Clif has a team of runners who pace races all over the country. You can see more info here -> http://www.clifbar.com/play/pace_team/ Team in Training does do their own pacing I would imagine, but that is mostly due to having trained their group at a certain pace and their dedication to getting their group to finish at that pace.

My hubby and I are running the relay and I'm a little disappointed with the relay medal. The relay medal should state somewhere the date and that it’s from the inaugural race (same as the full 1/2 marathon medal). I think it should emphasis the inaugural aspect because, I believe, this is the 1st time Disney has had a relay 1/2 marathon of any kind. We may not be running the full 13.1 but we are still part of this new race event. :(

It's too bad Disney didn't allow voting for this race's medal like they did for the January marathon.

I completely agree, maybe it says something on the back? Keep hoping or maybe on the lanyard?

Ok guys. I know how excited we all are. I have worked up what I think the course will be using the vague course map (which I think some of the markers are way off), a little predictability and some suggestions from 2 locals (Thanks Zac and Doug). Now, this is all my own interpretation. Please fell free to make comments or suggestions due to experience in WDW races and what their style is.

IE: Im concerned about when we come back down Osceola after leaving AK, their map shows a double back around mile 7.75 into 8. I just dont know why they would do this instead of making us doing that distance in AK parking lot or DHS parking lot. A double back would just be bad. I could be wrong.

Lets discuss.

That is weird. It's a triple back if you look at it, because you run it on the way out too. Thats around mile 8 or mile 1 depending on where you are. I hate sharp double backs like that. They could have easily made up that distance in a parking lot or some other loop

I really think something is wrong here on their map they provided. Case in point, there is no way you can have mile 4 being at the back left corner of AK and then mile 5 by the exit. Just isnt right.

I also had to do some predicting in the entrance/exit of AK parking lot. I think that we will follow the service road by Dinosaur and empty out in the parking lot there instead of that bottle neck at the entrance gate.

Hey, it is all for fun. I just thought Id take the challenge and see how close I get. :D

Well, if I am correct, they are also doing the relay team handoff in (or around) AK. So it will be interesting to see where and how they stage that monster.

Yes. I fyou go by their map it would be inside AK. I dont think so. Plus, it would have to be around the 6.5 mark correct? I think that is why I put that exit the way I did so it would put the relay area in a large open space.

According to their loose map, it is at mile 5.

I am very interested in how the relay handoff is going to happen. And when I called the WDW Sports Endurance Co. They really were no help at all. I guess we'll just have to go with the flow.
