All forms are up up Disney's website, including all waivers, final race instructions, brochures, event programs, etc. The event program is about 30 pages and includes a ton of details about the weekend, the race, and the course, including relay points and how the exchange will happen for the 2-person teams. All forms are printable and ready to go.
Woot Woot. Im heading there now.

finally!!!
Nothing like waiting till the very last minute.

I hope I'm wrong, but I really feel like Disney dropped the ball on this race. This preparation for this race has seemed very unorganized. Information has been scarce and sporadic. I have called the Sports Endurance department and was always told a few times with questions and was usually told"they didn't know the answer to my question or the final details have not been made yet".

I guess we'll find out in 11 days!

Well, one thing is for sure, they didnt drop the ball on the Bling! :D

Also, I think this is a little expected with an inaugural event. Yes, they have marathon weekend every year, but this is a whole new event. It will be smoother next year.

I still say the stage will be an easy area to meet up, especially within a 5-10 minute window for a set time. Bag checks tend to be super crowded but the actual stage area is usually very open and conspicuous.

Only 4 corrals? Wow, that's interesting. How many runners are expected - I know it is "sold out."

Since we are facing "East" in the image, the stage area is fine by me Doug. What if we all shot for the area in the corner of the football shape, or the end of the black arrow that is pointing right from the red C,D Corral box.

I need to move this over to the thread on the MnG if everyone likes this area. I think this could work perfectly.

I believe they said 7,500 for the half, and another 2,500 for the relay. No idea if that is 2,500 teams, or 1,250 teams for 2,500 total running the relay.

The handout for the after party worries me. It doesn't indicate any attractions being open at all. I hope they just left them off due to not having finalized them. Charging $35 to stand around for 3 hours just to pay more to eat food while waiting for the runners is a new low. I can't expect them to sell that much food at 11pm at night. Wine, maybe, but the food? I imagine most of the spectators will have already eaten by then.

Can somone post a direct link to the final race packet (instructions etc)

I can get to the waiver, but the ESPN WWoS site never loads correctly for me, either at home or at work.

If I scroll through the unformatted garbage it puts up, I can find the link to do the waivers, but all other information is lost in the mess.

Thanks

Well, I just answered my own question. The blow up for the relay hand off shows numbers from 10,000 to 11,400. So that would indicate 1,250 teams.

I was afraid of this from the get go. That is why I didnt even ask my wife if she wanted to attend. It looks like the after party will be in WS/FW West, so I wish they would at least open up SOARIN, SSE and maybe the LS.

I guess we will see. Maybe they will surprise us.

EDIT: Ok, I just now see the Party Brochure. I guess I am completely wrong. It is all in WS.

That sounds like a good spot.
Ill update the thread

Did any of you ever do the Wine and Dine 10K? One of my Disney running friends told me it was not his favorite because the number of walkers really got in the way of being able to run, but I am wondering what attractions were ever open for that.

10,000 runners is just a fraction of the Disney Half Marathon - last year there were over 16,000 finishers, so that doesn't even count the number of people who registered but were no shows due to the weather or who didn't finish (and there were a lot of non-finishers!)

Still, I am optimistic that this will be a fun race. After 13.1 miles, I'm not that interested in a whole lot of rides. The food, drink, music, sights and sounds are fine for me. . . but I wouldn't necessarily buy a spectator ticket.

I haven't directly done that race, but that was a different situation altogether. The race took place in the morning, so after it was over, the parks would have been opening. And looking at the race instructions from last year, the post "event" was a picnic in one of the Epcot parking lots. It looks like you got to pick food from 3 of 4 vendors and get a drink. That is 3 times as much food, and in 2008 it cost $20 per adult. (Couldn't find the prices for last year) Not sure if the $35 per ticket for this party is simply inflation, or if it will include some extras not posted in the party guide.

The ToT races did have rides open during the post party, ToT, RnRC, ST, TSMM, TGMR if I recall correctly.

The walkers shouldn't be an issue for the half. For the ToT races, they had no enforced corrals. Just made announcements asking for the walkers/slower paced runners to move to the back and the faster runners to move to the front. Of course, not many people would actually move. But the half has assigned corrals, that should be assigned based on estimated finish times so it shouldn't be an issue.

I did both the ToT and the Race for the Taste last year. The RFTT did have a lot of walkers. I spent the first mile in the grass going around them. For the ToT I learned my lesson and walked up to the starting line, there were no corrals so I just walked up there. Since there are corrals in this race I don't think the walkers will be too bad.

The after party for the RFTT was in the parking lot, I did NOT feel like eatting the food they had after my run. I did eat the strawberry shortcake, it was just OK, nothing to write home about. The after party at MGM did have some rides open, it was a pretty good time. Was it worth the money? NO. They had a stage with a DJ but no one was dancing or watching or anything. The DJ was just there all by himself, poor guy.

My son and wife will be at the finish line, but we are not wasting the money for the after party. By looking at the ticket sales (or lack of sales) online I'm guessing that most people feel the same way.

Disney has been having a fair amount of trouble with the online waiver forms. When I logged in yesterday, it had no record of my registration.

A telephone call to the customer service line led to an answering machine telling me to expect a return call in 3-4 days.

My e-mail was not returned.

I checked with active.com to be double certain my registration had processed and they were actually very helpful. :king:

I tried calling again this morning and the automated message that began before even pressing 1 or pressing 2 was that they were having a large number of problems with waivers that they expected to have fixed by the end of the week.

I just tried to log in and it showed up, so they are making progress. :king:

From the Disney running website, they say discounted tickets are available to race participants, so I thought, what the heck, and tried to buy a park ticket but the link said the online store is having problems, and call the number instead (a toll free number, so that was good. :D )

The nice lady asked if I wanted a finish line party ticket and I told her no, that I wanted a theme park ticket. For how many days, she asked. I told her one day, and she then said there were no discounted tickets for only one day. :fork:

Whatever, Disney. At least I got my waiver printed.

My brother and his family are comming down with me when I am racing.

My Sister in Law called to get the discount tickets (I have an AP) and she asked for a 8 day ticket. They said we can sell you a 7, a 10, or two 4's.

So they are spending a day outside of the parks.

Why oh, why do we love thee so much when they crap on you sometimes.

Sorry for all your troubles. I am glad you got it worked out. Im race #392, What about you.

That is just stupid. Why wont they let you buy any increment you want up to 14 days or so... oh, wait, that is right. They want you to opt for the 10 day and they get you in the park an additional 1 or 2 days. Well, they lose in your brothers case.

Wow, that's a low number!

I'm 3592. I thought it would be higher given my registration from the wait list, but there you have it.

I think I once had a low number like that for the inaugural Expedition: Everest race, but I've gotten used to the marathon weekend numbers which are usually in the 35,000 range.

And yeah, as much as we want all aspects of Walt Disney World to be a well oiled machine, they show their feet of clay all the time!

This has been like this since the announcement of this race. You have never been able to order tickets with the W&D discount code online. You had to call the 1-800 number in order to get the discounted tickets.

I did call someone about this awhile back and they said they were updating the website and would be fixed soon. Ya right-never happened.
