What's Next For DHS And AK??

Maybe that's the Virtual Toad ride we've heard about. I say they should just rebuild Horizons :)

No way. You can get that at a Busch Gardens. I want the Mysterious Island/ Beastly Kingdom hybrid for AK.
Bush Gardens is a fake-looking "Africa" though...(okay, some of their theming is alright) The outback and a reef would be awesome. Think SW's Dolphin Cove on Steroids. I know Epcot has the sea life, but I've heard rumors of proposed ideas like this.

Mysterious Island seems like the best though. We could use the return of Jules Verne in Florida...

I'm an animal lover who watches Discovery channel and Animal Planet all the time. So its not that I am disinterested, but its that once you do AK more than once, it gets stale. It comes down to two important facts: animals don't understand its time to perform when I show up and that even my 6 year old has seen just about every animal on the planet up close by now. My last 2 attempts at the drive through safari were so devoid of any animal sightings that we don't even bother anymore. Even my 6 year old has no interest in that safari because it drives too fast and there is so little to see most of the time.

We live in a world where you can see a video of anything at anytime. And for the majority of people, you probably have 2, 3, or even 4 zoos within driving distance of you. I can see zebras and rhinos within 15 minutes of leaving my house in South Jersey.

However, I do love the Dawa watering hole and could sit there all day people watching. They always seem to be more entertaining to watch than any of the animals!

I thought Potter expansion into Lost Continent was all but confirmed, though IOA has apparently drawn the line at Mythos.

Sounds good to me. Poseidon's Fury has a cool exterior building shell (one of the best, actually) but other than the tube o' water there's nothing of value in there.

It is confirmed from what I have been told. It was in the contract that Rowling signed with universal that they will expand it to include rides/ride that Rowling really pushed for. I was told that within 5 years is the deal. I've heard this from multiple people out at universal. In fact I've heard a bunch of different versions, but the basis is the same in all of them. And that is the lost continent is gone and wizarding world is expanding. Sounds like eighth voyage of sinbad will house a new ride and so will poseidon's fury.

Some will even argue that the "theming" makes up for that - so I usually pose to them this question: would you rather have a plain fish tank with dozens of colorful, active fish, or an exquisitely decorated, intricate city-like fish tank with all the trimmings and two or three limp, slow fish. Some people say they'd chose the latter - which is pretty shallow, just like AK.

Ouch. That's a pretty pointed metaphor, though it might be more accurate to say that Animal Kingdom is a fish tank the size of a living room but all the fish hang out at the back near the filter so you can't see them.

Expand Kali River Rapids: The present rapids are a mere joke, it is possibly the shortest river rapid ride in Florida. No surprise that they originally where planned with the double length and then watered down (haha) to cut costs. Bring them (if possible) to their originally planned length and people will do them more often because at the moment this short experience is not worth a repeated wait.

I was pretty surprised also at just how short this ride is, especially compared to the length of Busch Garden's own raft ride and the much more innovative Bilge Rat Barges at IOA. That makes at least two major attractions at Animal Kingdom that were severely abbreviated during their development, because Countdown to Extinction has the same problem; it was originally supposed to have far more interior set work and scenes but due to budget or time constraints (probably time) only 40% of the ride's interior was actually installed, which is they there's so many areas of prolonged darkness.

Other than the Safaris, which were quickly stripped of their story, the only other major ride at Animal Kingdom that was fully realized was Everest, and look how that turned out.

Tunnel vision is a terrible thing and we must work to find a cure in out lifetime.:D

:ROFLOL: Totally agree! D23 didn't wow us like everyone hoped, but really let's let the termendous amount of projects being done right now catch up a little! Geez!

We did get confirmation on the SW Coaster!

One possibility they could have with an Australian section in AK is they could move Nemo out of Epcot (he REALLY doesn't belong there IMHO) and put it there. Not saying they should move the entire Livng Seas, just the ride or maybe Paris' rollercoaster.

Exactly. I didn't know however that they downwatered Dinosaur too but I am not really surprised, it's actually the darkest dark ride I ever saw, it makes HM look like Jungle Cruise.

I almost get depressed when I read threads like these...just thinking that nothing is really being done to the state of the parks. Hopefully Disney cleans up their act and finally starts pumping money into our beloved parks.

- FL Expansion
- DCA Cleanup / Expansion
- Two new DCL ships
- Shanghai DL

They're spending money on other assets we just need to give them time.

Actually, OLC is paying for Shanghai. And its been pretty well stated that they have the money to do all four WDW parks "Potter Swatters" it's just getting them through the suits at TDO that's the problem. It really wouldn't matter if they weren't doing anything anywhere else. And when these projects are greenlit they will run into budget issues with the same people who axed them to begin with. And it doesn't have anything to do with whether they can afford them or not... We only got the FLE because Burbank made TDO do it. They could do all four projects right now if they wanted to (or, three now, sadly, ie: SM :( ). Hopefully we'll get more invovlment from them, I'm thinking after the DCA expansion :animwink:

I hate to say this but the first 10-15 Eisner years were completely different. I wouldn't believe that I say this as I was a great supporter of his ousting but in his first years he really had visions.

Not a valid reason for ignoring the problems WDW has.

If you're talking about maintenance or AK expansion, I agree. I would say things like DHS or Epcot expansion are moving at a reasonable pace.

Sure, I would have loved to hear a major announcement at the Expo, but there is a pretty significant expansion currently underway at WDW.

Seems to be their way of doing things. See Disneyland at the beginning of the decade. Then see it now. If they can change, so can WDW.

We just need another "Happiest Celebration on Earth".

What expansion besides FLE is there?
