What is Stitchs Great Escape?

My five year old son was scared during the ride, he didn't like being in the dark like that with the feeling that something was on the loose. But the end part of the experience made up for that for him and he left the ride laughing and it is still one of the rides he talks about most. That being said, for me it definitely isn't the best ride in the park, I could go to MK and be quite happy not going on it.

Worst attraction in the history of WDW, I would rather have seen them bring back mission to mars than this joke of an attraction. IMO, skip it all together, just go ride Space Ranger Spin and move on. :)

Stitch's Great Escape....ummmm yeah....dont bother going on it at all, its a waste of your time and its a waste of valuable space. There are so many better attractions at MK, so please avoid this at all costs.

Hi Everyone, I was looking online regarding this on the Disney website but it doesn't really explain what it is, is it a ride?? I was on a sort of "experience type thing before" and I am sure it was called Alien Encounter and it terrified me:cry:, and is that renamed:veryconfu I will be going with my twin 6 year old and wondering if it is suitable

Nothing new to add really. If you remember Alien Encounter, Stitch's Great Escape is the attempt to make that ride "kid friendly." Oops, sorry, that ATTRACTION "kid-friendly." The audience is brought into a exhibition to show how teleportation is now a reality, the teleportation goes askew, and suddenly, thre's Stitch in the center of the mini-theater-in-the-round. Like Alien Encounter, you're kind of harnessed in your seat, which allows them to make it feel like things are behind you, like Stitch might burp "behind you", and you'll feel his hot breath, plus smell the stench of chili dogs. Certainly tamer than AE was, but if a kid doesn't like being confined, he/she's gonna hate it. And ultimately, it's just not very entertaining. The individual elements of something that COULD be entertaining is there, they just miss the mark, wildly. When I went on, I was surrounded by people of all ages, children through senior citizen, who looked numb from the experience. It was still relatively new at the time, so there was a whole lot of "we waited almost an hour...FOR THIS?" shell-shocked looks.

On the plus side for you, since so many people have expressed your disappointment with it, you have no expectations. As a result, you might wind up kinda digging it. If the line is sufficiently short, go for it. If your kids are the skittish type, either pass it, or remind them it's all a show, it's all make believe, it's all Disney magic, then buy 'em a snow-cone when you're done. That makes it alllll better.

wow cant anyone just enjoy something for the fun of it anymore? I enjoy going on it. Yea its stupid, but who cares. God you people with such strong criticisms for rides are just like people who pick apart every little aspect of a movie and talk how bad it was and how it didnt live up to their standards. I like it, and to the person who didnt like monster's inc laugh floor, same thing, it is just a fun show to go see, even if you didnt think it was that funny. Just because these arent Walt's classics like the tiki birds and potc, doesnt mean its bad. Now, i personally dont care for the original tiki birds, which i did at disneyland since it aint at MK anymore because i think the whole thing is just plain corny, but i still think it is fun to do and im not about to bash it and call it the worst thing ever. Disney is changing, people are changing, and if you dont like the way things are changing, you just gotta deal with it, stop complaining, and move on.

Now to the original question, it is no where near as intense as alien encounter, but there are points where there is loud noises and darkness, which may frighten little kids. Try it for yourself first, and then decide whether or not your kids will be afraid, since you know them best. There most likely wont be much of a wait unless the park is crowded.

Although if there is no queue it is worth a look at. I actually enjoyed it (never rode AE) but it definitely isn't worth an hours queue. I'd much rather ride on Space Ranger Spin or talk to a rubbish bin or something.

I've ridden AE and I've ridden SGE. I agree that it's just Disney's attempt to make AE kid-friendly...and to make the ride more Disney orriented. I don't really remember anything that made AE come close to being anything to do with Disney...

The burp is absolutley disgusting, but to each their own. I didn't like it because I don't like the dark. "Hello, I'm a 27 year old and I'm afraid of the dark." I'm pretty sure I recall it going completely pitch black at one point - but so did AE if I'm correct.

I wouldn't really worry about preveiwing it beforehand, unless you just really don't remember much about AE (but from the appearance of your post, you do, and you don't like it). I'd imagine that it may be difficult for you to explain why you're going on the ride and they aren't...

Also, keep in mind, that the same things that probably scared you then are still being used. It's just a "friendly" alien this time. If you end up getting scared, it could make your kids scared, too.

I'm sure you'll make the right decision, whatever it may be. :)

Oh, and for the record, DH loves SGE, although I could take it or leave it.

To be completely fair, the attraction itself isn't too bad. I just think part of the reason that many people (myself included) don't appreciate it too much is that it took the place of one of the best attractions that MK has ever had. There was no reason at all to get rid of AE.

Uh...excuse me...Thought Police?

If no one ever complains, then things, generally, donn't change.

So, since your opinion differs from mine, I am a whiner? I am sorry that I find the attraction less than steller. I do like MiLF even with it's bad placement, but SGE is absolutely horrible. Admittedly, the AA is cool, but that is it! I can't say anything else good about it.

BTW, I actually do like Stitch too.

In all fairness to the ATTRACTION they have tweaked it since it was relatively new, especially the audio, and it was a GREAT improvement. Now it's "cute". I'm impressed with the way they use the audio to enhance the story and keep it from being too scary. It really sounds like other guests are making comments in various parts of the room.

Having said that, for me, once I do it once or twice (except maybe to check out if they made any changes or if I notice something different this time - maybe once per trip if the line is not long and I'm not pressed to do something else). That's it for me.

My kids (DDs now 14 and 10) drag me on it at least once every time we go, however, and they kinda like it. They come out saying "Daddy, Stitch played with my hair!", and "He jumped on my shoulders!", even though they know perfectly well what's going to happen.

You see, part of the reason is that we saw Lilo and Stitch (the movie) at DtD when it was first released on a rainy evening, and that theater is top-notch state-of-the-art in film presentation, and it was a FABULOUS experience. So they became HUGE Lilo and Stitch fans. So naturally they LOVED it when stitch "took over" the MK when the ATTRACTION opened - my eyes were just ROLLING back in my head! They had most of the monorail Stitch speils memorized, etc. For a while I thought that if I heard "meega nala kweesta" one more time I was going to lose my mind. Thank goodness they're more-or-less over that now (except when something reminds them).

Hmmm, yeah......that might be one of the things best spelled out.

I mean I like MILF as much as the next guy but uh....well.

Yeah...we kind of went over that. We assumed that most people would be mature enough to let the abbreviation mean what it means without cracking jokes all the time. :animwink:

I guess you don`t get it do you?

You know why AE was changed into SGE don`t you?

You know why this plan was flawed from conception don`t you?

Your own opinion is as valid, or invalid as everyone elses. Do not preach to those who don`t share your point of view. It dosn`t make them wrong. Nor you.

Not trying to be fresh or anything, but what happened? (Just curious)

I somewhat agree with this statement.

Alien Encounter was probably one of the more intelligent attractions WDI has ever designed, and it was a mistake to take it down (though it could have been less scary for the wee ones.)

My personal opinion of Stitch's Great Escape is that it's not terrible. It's certainly not the best ride ever created but it's still an attraction. It would be considered "cute" to some, but "terrible" to others but find myself in between these categories.

The unoffcial guide describes it as "A cheap coat of a paint on a broken car" which isn't true. The car wasn't broken in the first place, and the Stitch overlay certainly didn't make it any better, but as I read in the Imagineering Field Guide, to take a complex two dimensional character and make it a three dimensional audio animatronic wasn't just something you could build in your garage.

I sure hope I'm not flamed for this, as everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and like Martin said, no one here has an opinion that is more important than any others. I'm not trying to preach to anyone; I'm stating my personal views.

Just another ride for me. I personaly dont hate the ride and i can see why they replaced Ailen encounters with it. It was real frightning even for me when I road it a long time ago. and there is no denying that Stitch is a popular character. Plus, I heard that in the original attraction they though about using a alien like from the movie Alien, is this true?
