What did you do?

It is still cold and icy and I have no treadmill.

Yesterday was Kenpo X - cardio and legs, works for me. Marathon is comming up fast. I am hoping that snow does not come on Friday and mess up my fight - that would really be a downer.

I mailed my proof of age into the USA Track & Field association. Does that count as doing something ? My first full year as a masters runner. Still going to shoot for that Phidippidies award.

That sounds like an amazing run! Wish I was there now.

To all those running at Disney this weekend, GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!! :sohappy:

Indeed! Have a great run everyone!

And I am figuring out how to do this next year, either the half or the full. Pretty big words from someone that hasn't run a half yet

Rest day today for me.

5 miles tonight instead of 9. I flipped flopped nights from tomorrow night due to working late, it raining outside, and I just wanted to get inside quicker and hang with the fam.

37.08 love running in drizzle/rain

I was worried about that snow predicted for tomorrow as well because I really don't want to run on the treadmill for an hour and a half on Saturday morning, so I've managed to flip my schedule around, and I'm going to squeeze in a longish outdoor run today while my daughter is at Art class. She's not going to be happy though when I show up all sweaty and smelly to pick her up from class! LOL

As for the Masters thing, it always sounds to me like I should be really good at something to be called a Master, not just that I'm old! LOL. I prefer to think of it the former way.

Just ran my last pre-race run. A comfortable 4.5 miles.

Now it's all about packing (and unfortunately probably some shoveling tomorrow).

So yesterday I ran from 3:30-5pm which is a time of day I NEVER run. I'm a dedicated early morning runner, but it was the only chance I'd have to get outside for a long run before today's snow. It was an interesting experience with several pros and cons.

Con - I had to keep going up on the sidewalk and down into the street as I ran past houses where people had not shovelled their sidewalks since the blizzard on Dec. 26th. Some of them were clearly snowbird houses so I forgive them, but others had their driveways shovelled, so what gives? Because of the snow drifts along the shoulder, I essentially had to run with the cars when I was in the street. Not fun.

Pro - I saw a gorgeous orange globed sun setting behind a house in the distance with the sky all pink and orange. Beautiful.

Con - After the sun set, the temperature suddenly seemed to drop 10 degrees, and I felt it even though I was working hard. Also, as the sunlight dimmed, it was harder to see where the slippery spots I needed to avoid were located.

Pro - After it started to get dark, many houses turned on their Xmas lights. Although I'd seen them by car in the neighborhood for the last month+, it was pretty to see them close up at a slower pace.

Con - My knees started to kill me about 10 minutes after I stopped running, presumably from the way I had to change my running style over and over again to accommodate ice and snow. Fortrunately, the pain is gone today.

Anyway, it was a different experience, and I'm glad I didn't have to run for an hour and a half on the treadmill instead!

Ran 13.1 miles this morning. Great morning for the race, 52 deg F, clear sky. Ran it in 2:29:45 which is pretty good for me since I haven't done a long run in a couple months, and suffering with a cold, and had one of the worst nights of sleep ever. Was in corral C which was good since when we left after the race, there was still tons of people making their way down World Drive towards Epcot. Got my bling so I can cross that off my bucket list.

Now I have to get up with the DW so she can do the marathon leg of her Goofy challenge tomorrow. Off to the MK now to enjoy the last day of my WDW vacation.

22 miles in 2:27:00!?!?! Holy gadzooks! I'm impressed. You're gonna rock that marathon. What's the date? Was this your last long run before tapering?

Just such speed! What a great run. Under 7 minutes per mile for 2.5 hours and I can't do it for one mile.

Great job to get your "bling" :)
You snuck in at just under 2.5 hours...That is my goal in my first 1/2 marathon next month, but I might be kidding myself!

Nothing exciting like that for me today, I did 10.19 miles at 10:11 pace. I am good with it, since it had been two weeks since my last long run, and my ankle seemed fine. It was almost 30 seconds per mile faster than the first time I ran this route, although the wind was lesser too. I want to do 12 the next two weekends, and then will do a smaller amount the weekend before the 1/2 marathon since I am in a 5K with my wife/daughter on the Saturday.

And I also had my first Honey Stinger today, took it about the 45 minute mark. Don't know if it helped, but it sure beat trying to chew anything.

Whoops! Sorry guys. I meant 18 miles. I had my 2.5 year old sitting in my lap while posting and I guess she saw the 2:2 in my time and blurted out 22 and I typed that.

I meant 18 miles in 2:27:00. Scorp, lord, when I saw your "Under 7 minutes..." I doubled checked everything.

Just such speed! What a great run. Under 7 minutes per mile for 2.5 hours and I can't do it for one mile.
See above. What a BAD BAD BAD typo!
