What about Big Hero Six?

No mention there of an advancement of technology theme. Just a desire to see those characters in a park at the expense of a current (though dated) energy pavillion.

Actually, the creators and development team did extensive research into current robotics and medical technology and incorporated much of that into the film; that's where the specific line about Baymax's "skin" being made from vinyl came from.

And if that research can be made into something compelling for film then it can be made into something compelling for themed entertainment.

Ok, an advancement in technology display in Innoventions.

Such a display, properly conceived and designed, shouldn't require 'toons to get its message across. No need for them.

My post that you quote is in response to the apparent desire by yourself to get the Big Hero 6 into the park with no mention of a theme or how it would fit:

In my opinion, that is backwards. Starting with characters and then designing the attraction around them just to get them into the park is wrong. At least in Epcot.

I shouldn't have had to mention how the theme relates to Future World's theming. Because my original post was explaining how it would make a great attraction replacement in Ellen's Energy Adventure. I'm sorry I didn't get into full detail on how it would relate to the theming on EPCOT... I wasn't expecting somebody to try and shoot bird poop fact bullets at me out of nowhere. If I would have known that, sure I would have gone into detail on how it fits in with Future World. But, that was not my intention. I was simply stating that I would like to see BH6 because I believe it would fit well in Future World and I was imagining people would have some common sense on how it would be a great addition to EPCOT.

You on the other hand, just assumed that it didn't fit any theming into Future World at all. Which it does. Which you have been proven wrong. Which is why you tried to find an escape in throwing in "I don't want cartoon characters in the theme parks." Which was not your original intentions.

My original intention was stating that it would work well in Future World. Maybe your response should have been "Hey! I was reading your post and was wondering... How would a BH6 movie-based ride fit the theming of EPCOT'S Future World?"

Do you see how all this could have been avoided? :) Or maybe I just shouldn't have fed the troll.

The simple fact is this- unless there is a HUGE cultural shift from both the guests and corporate, there will be more characters in Epcot, not less. Therefore, shouldn't we look for the characters that are the best fit for what Epcot should be?

Hang about ... @Lee hasn't been proven wrong, in fact his argument has only been strengthened by your statement. It takes place in a fictional city in the future - why not add Avatar talking about Unbotainium as new energy source or Star Trek commenting on tech breakthroughs, because it is damn right stupid. Whilst certain aspects of the design of Epcot have been steered far off course let us not go over the waterfall just yet.

Common sense to know that about a movie I haven't seen? Really?

No. Big Hero 6 doesn't fit. Some themes presented in the movie may fit, and the characters could (if absolutely necessary) be used to advance/explain that theme. But a "Big Hero 6" ride wouldn't fit. That has been (one of) my point all along.

There is no need for a cultural shift because te themes of EPCOT Center are popular.

Cartoon or not, BH6 successfully makes studying stem subjects cool to kids watching the movie where Epcot has lacked in this area lately. I too thought of Epcot while watching the movie when they are at the University inventing a lot of futuristic things. Innoventions could be rethemed to this part of the movie to appeal to kids and get them excited about studying stem topics while still staying true to Disney's original idea for Epcot.

On a side note, Disney has always been about synergy and they didn't have all of the ip's in the past and therefore brought the Muppets and Indiana Jones to the Studios in the first place. They are doing the right thing by bringing the new IP's into the parks.

If it a movie IP it should not be brought into Epcot. Bringing Indiana Jones or Muppets, or another IP, to the Studios is a little different in a movie park than a park looking at technology and world culture.

Or how about not aim at kids, aim at teaching to adults and kids will learn more.

I'm sure part of my disapproval is my general dislike of animation and its intrusion into what was once a 'toon free zone at Epcot.

I figure if a great attraction can be made without them, that's the way to go at Epcot. And mostly Animal Kingdom, too.
Just checking in here to make sure you realize that Epcot would've never been built if it wasn't for the animation studio and the success of it. Furthermore, it wouldn't have been built if Disneyland failed, which was (and is) filled with fairytale rides.

Just because you don't like animation doesn't mean it has no place. Animation at the root of everything that made TWDC the media conglomerate that it is today.

The perseverance of increasingly adding animated properties into Epcot is a lowly virtue whereby mediocrity will have achieved an inglorious success.

Indeed. And it's not like Disney hasn't successfully used cartoon characters in the past to teach. Ludwig Von Drake and Jiminy Cricket are both excellent examples.

In Epcot ....?

Disneyland was nowhere close to being filled with such attractions. That is a lie told to justify today's lack of respect towards themed entertainment.
