Here is a prime example of the right idea with the wrong equipment. This was a point and shoot digital camera on the hood of my car. I couldn't hold it steady enough at the right angle to get the photo. It needs a tripod.

I have seen the list of all the Platinum Disney films that are coming out on blu-ray through 2012. It is in the same order as the Platinum dvd Disney films that started in 2001. I think I am going to go with the PlayStation 3 as my blu-ray player.

As for Sleeping Beauty, even though I have had the dvd for years and the vhs for even longer and even though this is my favorite Princess film, It has still been a year since I have watched Sleeping Beauty. A lot of times if a movie that I really like is going to be released again, I will stop watching it long before it's going to be released again as this can add extra magic for me when the new release comes. I was even thinking about not watching the new Dvd release when it comes out, and just waiting until I get my Blu-ray player and HDTV. I allready pre-ordered the Blu-ray and the Dvd of Sleeping Beauty. Since it looks like it will be months until I get my first Blu-ray player, I started to think that I will go ahead and watch it when the new Dvd comes out. Also when I started thinking about how I like to watch Sleeping Beauty in October that it what helped me make up my mind that I will go ahead and watch Sleeping Beauty in October of this year. After October has passed I plan on not watching Sleeping Beauty again until I see it on Blu-ray. I might would see Sleeping Beauty in one of the Disney resorts if one of them is playing the movie between October and the time that I get my first Blu-ray player. I will be going to DisneyWorld later in October, so if one of the resorts will be playing Sleeping Beauty when I am there, I might not watch the new dvd release until I see it in one of the Disney resorts first.

I know that this thread isn't the right place to discuss it but when it comes to Blu-Ray I have to speak up.

I went looking for a BD player earlier this year because I saw before Toshiba pulled out of the HD DVD war that BD was going to win. So I searched out players and at the time the prices were around $400 for a stand-alone. Then I looked at the PS3. A BD player that will play my standard DVD also, a game system and wireless internet access if I have a wirelss router nearby and they had a free BD copy of Spider-Man 3 in it. So I grabbed the PS3 and never been disappointed since.

BD movies are fantastic and so real looking. CARS is what really sold me on BD. Just the opening with Lightning coming out of his carrier was amazing. The "stickers" layering on the top of the roof was visible!!! You can see how they look almost like they had filmed a real car. Just that alone was unbelieveable. So get the PS3 because the games are amazing also but remember to hook it up to an HD tv via the HDMI connector.

kblais...that makes me miss when my little one was in that exact same spot...:(

But it looked like a beautiful day there!

Nice picture. (plus, I love how the child and adult in the background on the bottom left are holding hands...very cute...)

Thanks! It was a great day but a little too hot for my liking.

I'm a sucker for SpectroMagic shots, and I really love this one!

One of the other benefits of the PS3 is that it is BD profile 2.0, so it essentially is "future proof". Few other players right now are profile 2.0, although some are capable of firm ware updates that will enable them to be profile 2.0. The other benefit of buying the PS3 is that it's heavily subsidized by Sony because of the gaming element, so even if you aren't a gamer, it's the best current deal.

Nice shots today JeffB and Azerin!

Here's one from DAK yesterday:

I really love the composition of this!

Here's mine--I don't normally post HDR in this thread (since I prefer to keep the "heavily manipulated" images elsewhere, but it's this, or a shot of my dog, today...
