How was it? I've never been to Rose & Crown, but I love Sheperd's Pie. I do plan on trying it some day at least.

It was enjoyable but not "creamy" in the least as the menu description indicates. But having never had a real shepperd's pie I can't give a good review on that aspect. But if it helps inform your opinion, if I went again I would get the bangers and mash that I tasted from someone else with me. It was quite delicious.

Also recommended is the fruit and cheese plate for an appetizer. I didn't get a picture because my group devoured it too quickly but it was delicious.

On to desserts from Rose and Crown. First up: the Lemon Pie

This was way too tart for my tastes. But the lemon flavor was definitely there.

Our other choice that night: the Sticky Toffee Pudding

And this was way too sweet for my tastes. Guess I just couldn't be satisfied that night.

Muenster and Jarlsberg Cheeses, a schmear of LIngonberry Cream Cheese, Some kind of cured meat, from the looks of it I want to say trout, pickled herring, smoked salmon with capers, herring in a hot sauce, and some blackberries.

Moving on to the California Grill tonight

My 9 y/o comes in, looks around, and orders drinks at the bar

Then we start with tuna 3 ways. Not exactly thrilled with the back left preparation. Back right was nice, but whatever they crusted it with sort of overpowered the tuna (which was excellent) However that front preparation was excellent. The texture and sweetness of the fruit worked wonderfully with the tuna. Excellent job on the rice too (I like sushi rice)

Kids Caesar salad. My daughter wanted the dressing on the side. I don't know if it's supposed to be deconstructed or not.

Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli - with sun-dried tomatoes, pesto, shiitake mushrooms, and basil. My daughter loved it.

So much for the first course.
