Rumor Version of MaxPass coming to WDW in May?

Now (or anytime in the foreseeable future) seems like a weird time to do anything with FP besides what they've already done, taking it away completely.
Now is the perfect time not to bring it back in a recognised form. They have the time to work on what they want to do.

Not to mention they’re not technically able to utilise it at the moment. But that’s another discussion at another time.

FP at WDW is only free when it's in the 30 day window.

FP with the 60 day window is purchased by paying a baked-in surcharge to the overpriced resort rooms.

And FP with the 90 day window is purchased by paying the surcharge for club level and then buying each FP.

It's free to "cut the line" in the 30 day window. But you pay more to cut in front of the 30 day folk, and even more to cut in front of the line cutters who are cutting in line.

If WDW were to totally restructure their FP system, they'll have to address their resort perks at the same time.

EDIT: In the time to type this, the conversation already steered to it!

More and more I am really beginning to sour on Disney. Paid Fastpasses are one thing I can agree with but locking out regular guests is not right.
Try it. You might like it.

Seriously, I don’t know which way this will swing. I know of the options that have been mulled over for a year or two now. Like I said some months ago, things are more likely to change somehow than not.

There best bet would follow the Shanghai model. IMO fastpasses should me more limited in availability. A paid system does it best.

I don’t get how Maxpass in Wdw would be any different than what we already can do but with photo pass added in. Am I missing something else? I enjoyed Maxpass in DL the 3 days we were there. Wouldn’t mind it since having the photos at the end the trip was nice. But I figured if Maxpass were to come to WDW they’d take away the included photos.

So as far as TWDC is concerned, MaxPass is an insufficient level of monetization for FP.

MaxPass also wouldn’t work in WDW because there is no “free paper FP” to fall back on. The “classic” WDW FP machines/kiosks were retired many years ago.

Disney’s goal is to make as much money from FP as they can get away with. If you want to see what is in WDW’s future (and DLR’s), just look at what they’ve been doing in both Shanghai and Paris.

Previously, one of the challenges with implementing paid FP in the domestic parks was minimizing the negative attention / guest sentiment they’d get from removing an existing benefit.

Now that FP as we know it is gone “until further notice”, it is a prime opportunity for TWDC to overhaul and monetize FP without being seen as “taking away a benefit” since FP is already gone due to COVID restrictions.

I'm all for moving FP+ to Maxpass. My only question would be what options would people have if they didn't purchase Maxpass? In DL you still have an option to walk to a kiosk and grab a ticket. Most if not all kiosks have been removed now. I suppose they could use the current kiosks around the parks that help with FP+ but there's not many of them.

I'd guess they would need to re-install more kiosks in front of certain attractions or lands.
Maxpass sounds great for the open to close crowd, but sounds like it kind of sucks for locals. I miss the pre-covid days of grabbing a fastpass or two in the morning and hitting a park for an hour on a whim in the afternoon.

Sounds like some sort of “Alternative Access”
