TwoTigersMom's Extremely Long Trip Report 5/28-6/9

We’re home from, yet, another most excellent vacation to the World! Here goes the trip report…. Warning: It’s VERY long!

Vacationears: Me, Kevin (DH), Hagan (DS7) and Austin (DS4)

May 29th-June 9th

Day 1-

We drove down to Lake City the first night. For some reason, Kevin has decided he’s to old to drive straight through anymore like we used to. We arrived at the hotel around 6pm, checked in and decided to get bathing suits on and go for a swim. After being strapped into a car for about 5 hours, Hagan and Austin were running around the room acting crazy (of course this is normal whether they have been in the car for 10 minutes or 10 hours). Well, Hagan went to the bathroom to change and Austin started running in and out. All of a sudden, a blood curdling scream that could be heard for miles emitted from our room. In between the screams of “Hagan did it!!” and the howls of pain, we finally figure out that Hagan had shut the door over the top of Austin’s big toe. The skin had been rolled up and was under his toe nail. We couldn’t get it unrolled and it was bleeding everywhere, so off we headed to an urgent care. Of course, I had no clue where an urgent care was so I called Epcot.Nut and she gave me the directions (Thanks again!). Once there, they took him right in and started by giving him suckers, Tylenol & motrin and Gatorade. They were his friends. However, when the time came for the doc to inspect the damage he decided she was no longer his buddy.

The doc, numbed his toe and then, finally was able to uncurl and bandage it. She wanted an xray, because she said it was broken. Wouldn’t you know, I had left my insurance card at home! I ended up having to pay out of pocket, so I told her that if she wouldn’t do anything differently if it was broken, I didn’t want the xray. That didn’t win me the Mother of the Year award, but a prescription for antibiotics instead. She, then, informed Austin that he could not swim for 2 weeks. Boy did the tears start flowing then! We were scheduled to spend the day at Typhoon lagoon the next day and he knew it. We stopped at Walgreens to get the script filled and it was $80! I had the pharmacist call her back and get something cheaper. Boy am I a bad mom or what?? While they filled the new script, Austin and I browsed the bandage section. I got 2 cans of spray on waterproof bandaid, several different sizes of regular waterproof bandaids and some bioclusives (clear waterproof bandaids that they put over IVs). Austin was still sobbing about not swimming and I told him that I was going to fix it so he could swim and if his toe rots off we’ll deal with that later.

By the time we returned to the hotel, everyone was starving so we went to a yummy little Mexican restaurant down the road. It’s becoming a tradition that we eat there every trip. After dinner, we were all too tired to bother with swimming so we hit the hay.

Nice Report Heidi! I love the suds in the bathtub!! Priceless..:ROFLOL:

Thanks Caroline and don't worry, your time is coming. Just a few short years from now, you'll be posting pics of your little man putting too much soap in the tub  It's a boy thing. It's their nature to push the limits of every single boundry and test out new and inventive ways to get themselves in trouble

Glad to read you had a fine adventure at the WDW!

I could tell you what the real name is for the "sand monster" but there are a whole lot of people on these boards who are bigger Star Wars nerds than me and I don't want to steal their thunder. Do you have the picture the boys made with him? And letting out a weird noise is what they did best in the movies, the "Sand Monster people" not your boys. I've never been to a movie with them, so I don't know what THEY do, although I can guess. :D

Heidi - We had a great time with you. We aren't terrified at all. Of course, the bubble bath picture looks a thousand times worse when it's not on your cell phone. Next year just got more complicated for us. Cindy's brother and his family are going for the first time ever in the middle of June (our SIL is a school teacher and doesn't get out until 6/11), so we may be too late. However, two years from now, we're definetly down again. Our kids had a blast with Austin and Hagan and Cindy and I had a blast with you guys.

I see that in my TR I'll have to explain our first day meeting confusion in greater detail (really, it's quite entertaining) and the mildew shirt/poison drink war.

You know, not only did your kids get my DS on BTMRR, but you got both of my kids into pin trading. We've already taken your advice and ordered a bunch o'cheapies off of Ebay for massive trading on our next trip.

My DD calls Austin and Hagan the "silly boys." I suppose Austin will have to act a bit more mature next time if he wants to win her heart.

*whew* :dazzle:

I am completely exhausted!

What a trip, Heidi! Any pictures with George?

Here's a mystery for you. There may be pics of me and Heidi together somewhere on this site. :lookaroun Of course, it could ruin part of my TR. I should get my trip report up next weekend. If I stay on task at work, I should get all the writing done that I get paid for and have some time for fun writing.

What's funny is that my DS knows it's sand person colloquially and Tuscan Raider if you want to be more exact, but he kind of freaked when he saw full sized sand people. A couple of sand people really scared the carpola out of Austin and my DS when they came up to them and started to make their sand person sounds. One of my favorite moments of the trip.

You will curse her for the pin trading intro later!

...and be careful about "silly boys"...they seem to be the ones girls always go for, regardless of the initial complaints.

I loved reading your Trip Report and seeing all of your pictures! My husband and I are taking our 2 year old son for his first trip to WDW this Oct. and now I know what I can expect from him sometime soon! I do think the picture in the tub is more adorable than funny! I would frame that and put it in my bathroom or something-too cute not to have framed!

Hmmm.....interesting. I'm a bit silly myself. :lookaroun

I can see the future of pin trading cursing. I'll try to stay in the moment where it's new and fun. The wiki entry about pin trading blew me away.

I missed this on my initial scan of the comments. Kevin and I kept commenting on the hint of guava and the like you could taste in the chocolate milk. On a side note, CP has the best chocolate milk on the planet. It's similar to DD coffee. Inexplicably addicting.

Also, I saw the pic of EE, but somehow missed it was Kevin and Hagan in the front row. That elevates the awesomeness level of the pic to completely.

Those aren't the exact noises my boys make. :lookaroun
