I dot understand the hate for the Nemo Seas Pavillion either??? And the only complaint for it seems to be that it retells the same story from the movie??? Doesn't every single ride in fantasyland "retell" those movies???? I don't get why nemo is singled out???
Hate maybe strong. Dislike by some of another Pixar tie in maybe. But it was that or a blank wall.

As it was it was, it was done on virtually no budget since the company resented paying itself, and the many flaws due to this are clear. Cheap ride system, messy theme, daylight clearly visible from a seabase, part Nemo part futuristic seabase.

Because essentially your trying to explain maritime sciences - of how humanity is adapting to live in new locations ... and then sticking in Nemo in because you like to appeal to Honey Boo Boo guests.

Oh yes and we aren't in Fantasyland we are in part of park devoted to teaching us about science/history of science that's why people complain.

What's sad...is that the queue (which is often close to empty) is the most stunning and memorable part of the ride...

I get the feeling that people complain about change and in equal force complain about the lack of change. Those two opposing views pushing against each other create a stalemate. Stalemate in turn creates lack of change.... Vicious cycle.

Are you referring to the "Living Seas", or frankly the rest of the front part of EPCOT, because if you are, I can viciously tell you why you are wrong to imply that these sorts of complaints are merely due to nostalgia.

I will clue you in...it's not about "change"...

It was meant as a general blanket statement with no specific emphasis on nostalgia. No need to be "vicious".

 Oh well...going to try to make reservations again for the marathon trip. Site has been acting screwy again. It's difficult enough planning three Disney trips at once, but when reservations are not working it makes it much harder. Even called earlier today and "computers were down".

I agree. I believe the original concept for World of Motion was to have guests riding in cars through or around the attraction. In the first refurb, Disney could have maintained the scenes from WoM, introduced the cars and changed the finale to embrace what we now experience with Test Track: a few quick twists and turns through the "CenterCore" then out and around the track.

Going from an updated version of those speed-illusion tunnels straight into a flight around the building at top speed would have been amazing.

I understand what you are saying. You are right, but I wasn't even interested in the trackless system. Just a great themed ride with great effects. Universal Orlando doesn't seem to need a partner or sponsor to build great themed attractions with great special effects. I guess I just need to keep my expectations for WDW attractions low.

If TDO is going to redo the Imagination Pavilion they need to redo Image works on the second floor as well as the Magic Eye Theater. I wonder why TDO let this pavilion get in such a sorry state in the first place?

I sort of agree..except I also accept the fact that some of Uni's "big rides" are copycats of their own systems. Transformers...the one in orlando is a clone of the one in cali..which is an updated system from the spiderman ride (just one example). Dont get me wrong..all are good rides..but its cheaper to "copy" than create.

LOL my parents and any adult I went to WDW with back then weren't too fond of the "old" Epcot either...except WS. So it wasn't just me and my childhood impatience.
Just to make myself clear...the ride at Living Seas was the ONLY thing that I found lame or boring at EPCOT Center. The rest was absolutely fascinating to me. Well, with the obvious exception of the original World of Energy. So I guess it was the first two attraction on either side of the perimeter that were a little lacking for me at the time.

...and in the process blocked half the windows into the tank that used to be visible from the Omnimover....
True, but in my memory, there wasn't anything much to see that wasn't even more clearly visible from the viewing windows in the interior. Oh, occasionally a shark would swim overhead but not all that much worth writing home about. Even with it's flaws it beats the hell out of when it wasn't even available all those years. JMHO!

Does this add fuel to the Dr. Door rumors? I don't see them getting rid of Osborn lights entirely, the more they think it through I'm sure they will come up with a solution. It seems to be a huge draw, and a tradition for so many people.
With the outrage of getting rid of Lights of Wonder at Epcot, I would hope WDW would think twice of getting rid of Osborn lights at DHS. But then again..

Yeah, WoM and Horizons weren't a step behind Pirates and HM, they were on par, if not a step ahead (at the time, at least). SSE '94 was the best version of the ride - most certainly the gold standard for EPCOT refurbs.

1980s and 90s EPCOT dark rides were amazing, and were second fiddle to none.
Why was SSE'94 the best version? I can't remember back that far.:(
