Disney marketing is winning. People seem to be content giving a pass after pass for mediocre work at best.

Seem content? No, they are lol. Ever read the comments on the Disney Parks Blog articles? People foam at the mouth at things like Buzz's churro cart. It's sad and pathetic. My supervisor called Pixar Pier "fantastic." Yikes.

I just think it honestly looks fine and people are overreacting. I’m always on board for calling out Disney when they do stupid things... I just really don’t agree on this one.

For sure, but I would hope comments like "people are really getting worked up over..." don't continue, even though they will. As I said, this is what keeps Disney giving us half-a$$ed BS.

I guess the question is, who determines whether the design of this ramp is mediocrity or not? As I said before, it is my understanding that it had to be done...was there really a better option? I'm guessing Disney looked at multiple options and they believed this was the best one. I sincerely doubt anyone said, let's just build the worst version possible. Like anything else, some fans will hate it, others won't care or don't feel it's poorly done. But I have a hard time calling anyone out because they aren't overly concerned about an wheelchair ramp.

I somewhat disagree with your comment about effort into product going away. The River redo, SW Land, Pandora, Tropical Hideaway (possibly), BV Street, Carsland (yes, those are older), some of the new stuff coming to WDW...hardly little effort. There may be instances where we all scratch our heads (hello Pixar Pier) but it's hard for me to personally get all over them about a ramp that will provide better access for wheelchair bound folks. I'd rather save my negative energy for things like Pixar Pier/Fest.

Precisely. Pixar Pier still makes my soul cry.

It's comments like "it's just a...," or "people are really getting worked up over...?" that then trigger the mediocrity comments from myself. We all have our own definitions of what mediocrity is. Disney has been making mediocre decisions lately.

As you may or may not know, I despise the entire Star Wars Land concept. BVS and Cars Land are six years-old, though I have my qualms with Cars Land as well. Current Disney just continues to disappoint. But just because Disney makes something look pretty, it doesn't mean it is of quality, in my opinion. I'm not just speaking of aesthetics and looks when I say Disney is going down in quality.

I like seeing other parts of the park in the park. I don't like that Galaxy's Edge won't even have the DLRR in it. Bothers me.

Interesting point. Not something I had thought about before- but won't Galaxy's Edge be the only land the railroad won't be visible at all?

Hopefully they'll have the ability to catch a glimpse of it. Yes, immersion into the land is good- but it's still Disneyland, and seeing the railroad will definitely help make it feel like Disneyland.

Actually it will, it's open at the battle escape end. Briefly. But that's about as much time as it spends visible from most other lands, outside of Rivers of America, which they've only very recently really integrated it into. The train is pretty much a backstage commodity at Disneyland, unlike something like Paris.

Galaxy's Edge is also designed to blend into Rivers of America and Big Thunder. All told for a beyond the berm (and beyond the hub) land it is much better integrated than Toontown.

Props, plants and theming help a lot. Just a blank bamboo wall is jarring (ie the blank blue wall behind Dumbo).

what they probably should have done is pushed the wall back a few feet and eat into some of the jolly Holiday area in that corner of the eatery. It would not have made much difference to loose a few feet in the eatery but would have added needed space for the attraction. Then maybe they could have left a small planter that is just wide enough between the bamboo wall and ramp and maybe planted some real Bamboo. There is no much Bamboo that will be removed from Bugsland. Bamboo is easy to transplant and hardy enough to be moved.

My biggest issue is the way the ramp looks from the Adventureland walkway which could have been fixed with a taller rock wall. Taller plants in the middle planter would help obscure the bamboo wall but I’m not holding my breath.

Maybe a rock wall would use up more walking space but i agree that something should be added. A planter that is maybe no more than a foot wide could have easily been added and then planted full of real Bamboo. Would have created a nice wall and natural berm

Im also trying to still get used to it, I have to admit though that the Pier seems to be busier now than before. On saturday while in the Bing Bong store (really needs more decor in there, looks a bit bland) a group of teenagers were super excited about coming back to DCA when the Inside out ride opened. One of them said that they heard it would be a walk thru like a fun house style.
I didn't want to break their heart and tell them it was going to be a huge painted wall and a spinner.

Exactly. Things can be done with minimal effort that would make it a lot better. It’s just not important to them.

Tiki Room is usually just a pass for most people. It isn’t hard to skip it for better things in the park like Tropical Hideaway?

If I'm limited time I skip the Tiki Room. Usually something I only do if its raining or if its a crowded day. The last time I did the Tiki Room was 2012 (Although its not as bad since the only other times I have been post-2012 was 2015 to Disney World and 2018 to Disneyland).

I’ve been to Disneyland on days where there’s been no line longer than 30 minutes and the Tiki Room still had all the seats filled.

I personally love the Tiki Room's theme and songs, but I have a massive fear of birds and the animatronics creep me out so much which is why I rarely do it.
