This expansion/refurb was very needed.. but I gotta say I'm pretty underwhelmed looking at the pictures.. I remember a while back there was a large water feature with rock work planned for the entrance... Maybe it was built but was just not photographed? Also not photographed is the seating area closest to the jungle dock.. Also not mentioned is when this new area will open....
Are you referring to this?

It’s imbetween the two bridges in this concept art:

Here is the final version of the sign:

So it seems like it’s still possible that the sign is still attached to the water feature, as we don’t have a picture of the bottom half of the sign.

( looks at recent interior photos )

Looks really nice!

I'm glad they kept the Magic Carpet mosaic tile work.

Aladdin's Oasis was one of the last projects the late Imagineer David Mumford worked on (possibly the last at Disneyland) along with The Little Mermaid area at Tokyo Disney Sea. He has a tombstone in the enhanced queue at WDW's Haunted Mansion. I'll take this as a happy memory at Disneyland.

For a tropical hideaway there sure isn’t a lot of foliage. Everything else looks nice but the lack of a tree canopy sucks.

i keep looking back at those pictures and it really amazes me that they actually removed at least a couple of the full grown trees. In non of those pictures is there really any trees. seems a bit weird that they did not consider that in the design

That's a great question. What we don't know is if any of those trees were infested with the bug that is killing so many in SoCal. We're seeing tree replacements all over the resort.

Yes, there is a lack of greenery within the immediate dining area but perhaps the designers felt it wasn't needed since we have all of the trees behind the Hideaway from the Jungle Cruise landscaping.
Once you are within that dining space, it might not seem as bare as the photos imply once seen in person.
I would think that the view should be quite nice from the rivers edge.

Wow I am highly impressed. For someone like me, this has barely been on their radar I had no idea it was going to turn out like this. FUNNY enough, when they restored DLH and they announced Trader Sams and Tangaroa Terrace I imagined something a bit more themed and spacious like this. I think area there is nice but it still feels a bit too small, especially at night when everyone is drinking. But this looks fantastic. Sadly no drinking though lol.

As someone who hasn't followed the project as closely as they should've...

What is this space going to be exactly? A quick service or table service? And will they be open any more than Aladdin's Oasis was?

Now is this going to be the new spot to get a Dole Whip? I thought I read that somewhere.
That would make a world of sense with them trying to clean up choke points in the pathways. That Dole Whip line goes through one of the tightest spots in the park.
