News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

Maybe they're attempting to make Magic Kingdom feel newer and keep Disneyland as the mostly classic castle park. Just spitballing here.

If that's the case, I would not mind them bringing Shanghai's Pirates of the Caribbean to MK ;)

Anyway, back to Tron. I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this but I noticed that the position of Tron at MK with the canopy is at a sharper angle than at Shanghai. This means that MK guests will approach Tron at a viewing angle that allows the canopy to hide the main indoor coaster portion.

Sorry, I don't see the difference other then a different angle when the picture was taken. Can you explain a bit more?

Too bad the MK version of this ride will NEVER have this few of people riding it. *sigh*.

I wouldn't mind Shanghai's Pirates at this point either ...

Yeah sure. So the first angle is how a lot of guests at Shanghai see the building when approaching and heading toward Tomorrowland (#1 in the picture above). The second angle is taken closer to the canopy but at different angle that allows the canopy to hide the box show building in the back (#2 in the picture above). So my speculation is that the placement of the Tron ride at MK next to Space mountain would probably limit/eliminate guests' view of the show building. Again, this is my interpretation of the concept art and hopefully answers my disdain for seeing that show building behind the canopy. I hope that makes sense.

Edit: the large black circle is Space Mountain and the box is the power station. I was just putting them in for perspective although they aren't sized properly.

What? DL's Fantasyland is way better than MK's. Much more to do and all those dark rides are still very fun. Some, like Alice, are even better than Mermaid even though Mermaid is more "high-tech." I also thought the Matterhorn was great for the grand daddy of modern roller coasters from 1959. That new Yeti also puts ours to shame because, you know, it moves. Honestly I didn't really miss SDMT either due to the options I had. They also get points for no longer having the dated tents.

You can't change that it was built in the 50's with no idea how popular it would be 62 years later.
Precisely on point. Also I'll add that the quaintness of the park makes it much more intimate and personal. People aren't as rushed. Fastpasses are available for almost every ride all day long. Main Street is only unbearable during fireworks, so we just watched them in Frontierland. Even with smaller walkways it feels that there is much more room to walk than at the Magic Kingdom as the sheer volume of crowds there is insane.

I've only been once and that was 8 years ago LOL so I'm long overdue for another visit. It's nice to be able to walk to both parks. Disneyland is small and quaint. The dark rides are fun. Matterhorn is a classic. It's just a great little park but I personally find Disneylander's have some blinders on and have the attitude of "everything's better and wonderful here". I personally don't need to be told how great and wonderful it is (and it is ...). Personally I think PTN, tech wise, is great but a downgrade from other night parades but they eat it up, I think Soundsational, while fun, isn't on par with a lot of past parades and to me it pales compared to Festival of Fantasy ... most seem to be eating up the 'new' Fantasmic but I just shrug at it and think they did some nice upgrades but it's a bit overrated to me ... but this is all personal taste ... just go and enjoy Walt's park. It just feels ... special. It's hard to describe. If you are a WDW regular it just feels like you've stepped into a bizarre alternate reality but I've been anticipating returning since I visited. I STILL need to see the new DCA ... it's certainly run a bit better, though I see the upcharges are seeping their way in. I can't speak for Castmembers but because they only have DTD, and two parks, they aren't spread as thin and I imagine you have more locals working there who truly care. I didn't notice, bad or good, when I was there. They all were fine. Nothing stood out good or bad.

I guess we should get back to TRON ... lol
That could be it too. By being a far smaller resort the Cast Members that are working there that are great are far more noticeable. It's also a big perk having Hollywood hopefuls needing a job. But that does mean that the resort has superior service -- no matter the reason behind it.

Very true on the Hollywood hopefuls needing jobs lol.

I think overall WDW has some great castmembers who do a good job, but they're clearly overworked, underpaid, and I can see the stress on their faces. Lots of them are put in positions they just shouldn't be in. I actually notice the most miserable castmembers to be at AK, apart from the performers who entertain, and the Safari drivers, the rest often look miserable.

Has there been any discussion about the possibility of a live entertainment component to compliment the Tron attraction? Until fairly recently, Tomorrowland at WDW had a long tradition of playing host to live musical performances, including early electronic music from artists like Michael Iceberg. Seeing as how the "dance party" has at least been kicking around, is there any hope that Disney might experiment with a live show to tie in with the new Tomorrowland offerings? It wouldn't be the first time.

That would be awesome! Doesn't Shanghai have a stage in Tomorrowland? MK could use another one once the dance party goes away.

Sorry if I missed this somewhere else, but is TRON going to be sponsored by Chevy like it is in Shanghai? Figured they sponsor the very TRON like Test Track at EPCOT.

Really really looking forward to this attraction.

You would think that by now, one of the imagineers at Disney would have invented invisible paint. I know I've seen Bugs Bunny use some once, I would hate to think that Warner Bros, or whoever did Bugs, would be smarter then Disney people.

Just joking around but, seriously, so what. It is again the angle in which it is approached. There is nothing that can be done to completely make a building disappear. Some with a lot of reason to have trees can do it, but, otherwise we have to accept the physical realities of the world and if it is bothersome to a few, then they should make a conscious effort to approach from an acceptable direction.

They cannot all be like this:
