I think they will give Space Mountain a nice quick refurbishment for the 50th due to nostalgia. But by 2022 or so a lot could change. IMO.

I would love to see that. However, nobody has talked about SM refurbishments so far. So I'm guessing there are no plans for it right now.

I doubt anything will happen to SM until after Tron opens. That way they can close SM for an extensive refurb without worrying about crowds, as Tron will take care of that.

1) it’s ”futuristic”.

2) Barely any Speedway will be taken.

Was #1 a serious reason? Did someone on the project actually say this? Just verifies my thoughts on some of them if so ...

Sorry, I haven't read this thread, so am asking questions probably answered before.

1) Why is the Tron coaster going into the MK? Or, has Disney given any "explanation" for that decision? Maybe because it fits in with Tomorrowland's current theming of things that used to seem futuristic but no longer do?

2) I gather they're taking up some of the space of the Speedway. Why aren't they just removing the entire Speedway and using all that space for Tron and maybe something else? (I'm not a Speedway fan, though I guess some must be.) Does it really make sense to spend time and money to make the speedway smaller instead of just removing it?

Easiest answer was it's a clone and already in another Tomorrowland.

Personally I think it'd have been better in Epcot, but I know many have built in dislike for TRON because it's short.

And to be honest, it's not the answer to the MK's problems. It's going to add to them, IMHO, of course. But I get their desire to "re-do" Tomorrowland.

TRON and Guardians feel like massive short-sighted decisions that could and should have been implemented better (of course I'm not judging the Guardians ride, clearly none of us has been on it yet ;) but placement is questionable, to put it diplomatically)

Pardon my French but this is one of the most stupid prejucides about the MK (and Disney parks in general) and I always try to rebut it if someone mentions it.

Well, it IS the competition down the road's current ad campaign.. "when they are ready for a big boy vacation" or whatever.

I'm far from being a kid, and still find things to enjoy about Disney, every trip, and even though I enjoy thrill rides, I don't need them to be the biggest, fastest, or most intense to enjoy my vacation.

There really is a belief in people who have never been that it's just for kids though.. one I, like you, try to dissuade every time I run across it. The commercials on TV do tend to paint it as a "family park" which in common shorthand means "with kids to small to ride roller coasters", but it's more like the WHOLE family, from the wee bab to Grandma and Grandpa.

Don't most of the four year olds who post here agree?

It's actually the opposite.

It's exactly when a new attraction opens that the park needs as much capacity as possible.
Space Mountain needs to be open to handle the extra crowds coming down for Tron

Space should get an extensive refurb before 2021
