Well, I don't think any of us are expecting any Star Wars stuff any time soon.

To be honest, I'm actually more curious about the Pixar side of stuff. I'm just having a hard time believing that with all potential land around Pixar Place and all the problems DHS has with a dearth of "family friendly" attractions that all we would get are 3 flat rides and one Cars dark ride. Even if the latter is E-ticket awesome, that seems fairly weak for a $1.2B or more makeover for the park IMHO.

I understand the idea of doing TSPL first to increase the ride count/capacity in a park that needs it and provide some rides for the younger set. By why wouldn't there be some plans for a Monsters Inc ride or Incredibles or Rataouille etc.? Or even more than one Cars attractions? The park is screaming for some dark rides.

Perhaps I'm just being really naive in thinking that with a giant footprint from the old Backlot Tour (and from LMA if that gets torn down as well) and a healthy budget, that Pixar Place would actually be developed quite a bit.
I'm sorry, I can't answer on most of this. DHS should see a lot of improvements and changes that should make people happy over the years coming up. Going beyond that, too specific that I can't answer right now.

Official estimates on Carsland came in around $800m+. RSR was officially at $220m-ish. Both numbers are low. You can probably extrapolate from there as to the cost of things. DCA's reno was officially $1.1b, but came in higher. So, include the front gate, Carthay, BV St., Whoopi, the carny ride re-dos and Cars, and go to roughly $1.4b. For the moment, until plans are out there and dirt is moving, I wouldn't take any numbers as set in stone.

Understand not being able to give out more specifics. I appreciate this insight and context that you have been able to provide.

call it sarcasm then... LOL
Seem to be having difficulty discerning sarcasm from people actually asking lately. My bad!

Avatar's number is pegged at approx $500m, but that's not where it will end up. The rest of the work being done in DAK hasn't had any numbers attached, so I can't answer that. I don't actually know. DHS hasn't had anything announced, so can't answer this either. In general, currently and over the next 5 years, there are billions being spent on the Florida property in total between the parks, Springs and infrastructure. Spending that is long overdue in my opinion.

I concur. He actually gives us quite a bit of info within his constraints and I really appreciate it. @articos

Gawrsh. Thanks.

I should also give you a big thumbs up for your contributions to these forums. I appreciate as much of a hint that you are ever able to give.

The one thing I have been curious about is how DAK and the rumored DHS redo are both being handled. It seems as though there are those that expect some 'big' type of announcement regarding the rumored changes coming to DHS. With DAK, aside from the fanfare associated with Avatar, all of the other smaller additions/changes have been coming out in dribs and drabs. There seems to be no cohesive, single marketing strategy that has been presented for DAK. If I am correct in this assessment, why would WDW handle it like that? Wouldn't it be better to acknowledge the changes as one large park refurb? Of course I also am assuming that the DHS announcement is going to be one large announcement. I could be wrong there in that assumption.

They may be doing it this way so that people don't postpone their trips. It seems to have worked for Universal.

No, same as it has always been. But the thing is, it is about the size of BB park+ it's parking lot. WonderSea won't have any on site parking. Everyone will park at the CityWalk garages and catch a bus. But keep in mind that it will be within walking distance of Uni's 3 largest resort hotels. Imagine if BB or TL were within an easy walk from AoA, Pop, and Dixie Landing.
There was a rumor going around that Universal would be building a monorail that connects all of the parks and hotels together. Did anyone else hear anything?

This is what will potentially change the landscape in terms of how much time you will spend at which resort area more, WDW or UNI. Up until now, I personally did not consider UNI worth an entire 5 to 7 day vacation. Add a monster water park, more attractions in the 2 theme parks, more accommodations, and now WDW will be in a bind, especially from a cost perspective. WDW might be viewed as cost prohibitive if it kept the status quo.

Now, MK has been expanded with work ongoing, DS is being changed dramatically, DAK is getting improvements everywhere - including Avatar. Now add killer additions/expansions to DHS. That can counteract what UNI is doing. But it has to be exceptional to argue the price difference between the 2 competitors.
And convert EC into a gigantic high-class up-scale convention facility that can win conventions over the Orange County one, and we are on a roll...

Check out this old Master Plan. You will see that the parking garages were made for a transit station and link. You can see the transit station in these plans all the way to the right and between the parking garages and the thin black line going up and down through it is the transit line.
