Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

The 1989 tour bridge will be gone, and the plans were for Stage Four (Narnia/Pirates) to be removed too though IMHO it wouldn't need to go. There's plenty of room between the buildings, again IMHO.

If they could keep that Jack Sparrow building, it would seem to me to be a potential place to do a Toy Story themed M&G (like a Woody's Roundup theme, maybe even with it as a bit of a show).

As I understand it backstage gates will block Pixar Place roughly where the sign arch is today. Once past the existing bathrooms on the left you'll continue along the existing pathway, crossing the backstage road running currently along the back of TSMM. Sets of gates will block this road on either side during park hours. Passing a DVC kiosk the path will curve left, with the coaster in front and to your right.

Theme wise I'd expect it to be smart generic up to the backstage road crossing.

I'm wondering about how Pixar Place will be closed off. If they are building some sort of large wall/other "berm" structure, it seems like it would require much more advanced closing of Pixar Place for a bit before TSL is open. However, they could also make it more just gate like, as part of me wonders if they are going to use Pixar Place as a pathway for the huge crowd spreading when Star Wars opens.

Gate like.

The SWL end will only exit into TSL. No access into SWL.

Flow sounds just as bad as it is now. And the gates and access road sound magical and special to walk through and across to get to the land. Yay?

They really don't get it?

You can put up those walls/gate that are offset from each other and go past each other. There are many of them in the parks right now all over the place. They're painted and decorated to blend in. The CMs just walk right around them and most guests don't notice the gap. They're drawn to the weenie and don't look sharply right or left and assume that they're just solid walls there.

It was crowd control, wasn't it? Having Monsters Inc and TSMM right next to each other.
It was cheapness and failure to commit. This is the same company that put Fantasmic by RnRC which is next to ToT, Splash next to Big Thunder, Mission Space next to Test Track (the former was supposed to be a hit), and Soarin's entrance off the crowded Land food court.

I really despair if this will be anything like the Paris version.

Please trust me the Toy Story Land in Paris is so cheap, so rubbish, not very Disney at all. I was shocked at how appalling it was.

Maybe they'll learn from their mistakes.

If they didn't, this whole DHS expansion is a complete waste.

An very cheap land that should have gone into better detail, and a land about people in bathrobes in outer space and explosions with devilish-like creatures.

At least it's not a land about farming.

It depends on what you mean by mistakes. If you mean the ride lineup it seems like the DHS version will have considerably more meat to it (especially if you include TSMM as part of the land even though it was already there). It really had to being that the crowd levels are considerably higher and the ride lineup in Paris is low capacity.

If you mean the overall theme and look of the land, it seems like it might be pretty similar with the theme of being shrunk down in Andy's backyard with oversized toys.
Here's the Paris version:

And here's the concept art for DHS:

The tinker toy Lights and oversized toy theme is very similar. It's a matter of personal preference. A lot of people don't like the overall concept.
