They still use dual load for small world in California, I don’t think it requires any additional staff vs. just having 2 load zones. In theory, dual load requires exorbitantly more staffing.

Very interesting! So was it dual double load?Ours in the 80s. Can’t find a pic but here’s the old layout:

That’s the California setup only backwards (both boats exit toward the center and load from the outside).Very interesting! So was it dual double load?
I wonder if it was a safety concern (not sure how it was set up, but if it there wasn't a barrier between boats, could be a hazard.
Tokyo's small world also has an impressive double double load

Because the boats move so slowly that there's plenty of time load the next boat. At least the deboating is on a separate platform. Why did they remove the dual load stations at Pirates?
And why on earth does Frozen load one of its tiny boats at a time?
It has been flawed to have such small boats load at that pace for over 3 decades. I wish they had increased capacity when they already had to rebuild load and unload. You don’t have to create scenes that must be viewed in their entirety. Other boat rides don’t. The only delay needed to be for the reverser track pieces to switch back, like any number of rides that have a backwards segment.Because the boats move so slowly that there's plenty of time load the next boat. At least the deboating is on a separate platform.
And the boats move slowly because most scenes are meant to be seen from its beginning, and thus a scene has to reset for the next boat. Can't have two boats in the scene with the second arriving in the middle of the scene triggered by the first boat.
Maybe after five decades, they won't care about that and just send boat after boat on top of one another. Like they now do with the first Haunted Mansion parlor scene.
This is so cool. Do you have Disneyland's by any chance?Ours in the 80s. Can’t find a pic but here’s the old layout:

parklore.com has them for a ton of rides. This is so cool. Do you have Disneyland's by any chance?
I actually realized I was being annoying by asking you lol. Sorry about that. I looked it up myself after leaving my comment. I just forgot to come back here and delete the comment because I got caught up looking at all the layouts for different rides they have. I love that stuff!parklore.com has them for a ton of rides.
its not much but in DL, having the dual drops that loop through the cavern area makes the ride so much better imoOurs in the 80s. Can’t find a pic but here’s the old layout:

Personally, I think it looks much shorter and less intimidating in person, and somehow feels closer to the bridge in front. It really depends on where you are standing, and the water tower is going to look huge on-ride the way it's positioned. Every time I peek through the mesh I realize how much the walls are hiding the scale of the water tower, on top of the tree being removed, but the water tower and cypress trees make everything seem closer together. I was looking back at photos of Splash, and with how "clean" and open it was, it definitely felt like a mountain before compared to now. It's hard to describe in writing but I'm curious what @DCBaker thinks, and if anything I just typed is understandable.I’ll say it again, but based on the pictures, the idea that it’ll look shorter as a result of the retheme doesn’t appear to be the case. What do those who’ve seen it recently in person think?

Side note- about 7 or 8 boats tested at what seemed like normal operational intervals, and then stopped.Photos taken just now.
I think this may be the earliest testing we’ve seen so far.
