thank you so much everyone!!
something must be working! My dad got some news from the MRI today.
The artery is not involved with the tumor, just next to it. This makes the surgery a bit less complicated.

Thank you for the prayers! They're working! Monday they're diong the byposy...
more news to come

i cant thank you all enough!

Its good they found the aneurysm behind his knee. They can deal with that before it breaks & becomes an emergency.
I'm sure your dad is anxious to have the tumor removed so I'm glad its this Wednesday. I'll keep my fingers crossed. How are you holding up?

Sadly the surgery did not go as planned. it was supposed to last 7 hours but the surgeon came in about 2 hours into it to tell my mom and i that he was not going to continue. When he looked inside my dad he found lots more cancer than he was expecting and didnt think he would survive the surgery.
Unfortunately this is a very rare cancer, so most doctors will just want to make my father comfortable...What we need is a doctor who is willing to kick the crap out of this cancer.
and prayers
lots and lots of prayers

my dad was moved to the cancer floor today and perhaps he will start chemo therapy tommorow.
thanks for the support of my magic family...sorry it took me almost a week to update ya'll...it was a pretty hard week.

well here's a bit of an update... and another request for prayers
My dad has been through 4 rounds of VERY aggressive chemo. His local dr is pretty much a moron and so now he has a new set of dr.s in NY at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital. The main objective is still to remove the tumor. The good news is, it hasnt gotten any bigger or spread as far as we can tell. Its been 4 or 5 months and all of his organs are still untouched. He's such a trooper lol he doesnt even get sick from the chemo, just tired and run down.

Unfortunately, last week i was sitting on the couch with him watching tv and he began to shiver... badly. we're used to him being cold so i piled blankets and turned on the fireplace for him (even though it was like 70 degrees) about 3 hours later, when it hadn't gotten any better even after hot soup and everything else, we took his temperature. 104! for a chemo patient with no white blood cells, this is a terrible thing! we called his oncologist, twice and he didnt call us back so we finally just called 911 and brought him to the hospital.
They couldnt get his fever down for 2 days, and his blood pressure dropped terribly low, so they took him off his heart medication. This caused his heart to become irregular (what a friggin nightmare:brick: ) so they had to defibulate him (the paddles...sort of). That whole ordeal is now over and he feels great now, but since they couldnt figure out where the infection came from, he's in Sloan Kettering and they are doing some tests on him this weekend.

There will be a new date for the surgery, maybe in a couple of weeks. the new surgeon says he sees WORSE cases than my dad every day so we're thankful about that... but every prayer helps! and pray the insurance company pays...so far they are refusing to pay all because the surgeon is out of network

enough already!!

I promise to light a candle for your Dad at church this Sunday. I hope God is still listening cuz I seem to be asking so much of Him lately. Stay strong for your Dad, Alicia. This has got to be tough on all of you and staying positive will ease his mental anguish. :(
