My cousin's father JUST came home about a half hour ago from being stuck in NYC overnight - he's okay though. He was actually there and saw what happened. He described it as an "earthquake". He couldn't believe it...

Meanwhile I did everything I could to take my mind off of it -my classes got cancelled today so I was stuck at home. I took a walk, watched some movies of past trips to Disney World, watched Cartoon Network, MTV, etc...

It's really nice to see that so many people are responding to these messages :) Makes me proud to be who I am. We have to be strong and comfort those in this time of need. ^_^

Are the Disney theme parks still closed? Just asking, because I tried very hard to stay away from the news today...my eyes are still stinging from all the crying I did yesterday.

I really hope that everyone, no matter where you are, are safe. Take care everyone :)

WOW! Many countries around the world are cancelling events that may attract large crowds. In Germany, Oktoberfest might even be cancelled!

I have been especially worried about my many friends from Blast. (mainly Naoki:() Their apartments are near the World Trade Center. They are all ok, but they were able to see the day's events from their homes.

Oh!!! And I heard about another significance of today's date. Today is Sep. 11, or 9-11...... as in 911.

Oh my! That's terrible! I sure hope your friends are okay.

Yeah I did notice the significance of the date, and Tuesday is named after the God of War.

I fully agree with you Tramp - my thoughts and prayers go out to them and their families. My father works about a mile away from the WTC, and my older sister works near the U.N. & the Chrysler Building - I feared for their lives. They finally came home around 4:30pm.

I've been reading every single post in this thread, and I am *amazed* at all the responses - thank you everyone! :D

I have just heard that the Changing Of The Guard today, will take place whilst they play "The Star Spangled Banner".

Just thought you'd like to know.

Yep, and it's the first time the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace has changed.

The European Union has declared tomorrow (Fri 14 Sept 01) as a day of mourning and there will be 2 minutes silence at 11am (UK)

I haven't said much on the boards these last few days as for once In my life I haven't been able to put into words how I feel.

Every time I turn on the TV or Radio the tales of human suffering just seem to get worse and worse, I cannot listen to vicitims families recalling how they telephoned to tell them that they loved them, knowing they where going to die.

The UK is numb we have had numerous terriorist attacks in our country, but nobody ever imagined that the horrors of the last few days would ever occur, least of all in America. Everyone I have spoken too, believes that America will recover from this assualt on Mankind, will find the perpetrators and justice will preveil. The UK will support and assist in any way it can. If this means War then so be it, Our home hasn't been attacked but our backyard has.
The Queen of England today has requested a change to the usual changing of the Guard as a Sign of respect. Tommorrow she we lead the country in a service at Saint Paul's Cathedral,to pray for our American Cousins.

We may not be with you in body but our hearts are with you all.

God Damn the United States Tennis Association who refused to play the National Anthem at the US Open last week because the words are violent and might offend the foreign players.

The US open stadium now sits in the shadows of violent death and destruction.

I've said it over and over on this board, The Brits are our only true friends in the world. They've stood shoulder to shoulder with us to rid the world of evil men and we will do it again.

Thank you Beauty for your sentiments.

Tramp, I agree! We Americans have taken our freedoms for granted for too long! We've confused free speech with no speech, freedom of religion with freedom from religion, and patriotism with chauvinism. Let this be a wake up call to all Americans! As the old cliche goes.."Use it or lose it!" Exercise your freedoms daily!

Guys,

Just checking in to make sure you are all as well as you can be at the moment. I have been so busy recently, I haven't been able to talk to you as much as I would have liked.

I just wanted you ALL to know we are thinking about you.

Im not really one for words, so i would like to reiterate what Mark said. We are all thinking about you, and praying for you, and the people trapped in the rubble. May the people responsible for this act of atrosity be punished.

The government of Spain has just offered their air bases should we choose to bomb 'somewhere...
Bin Laden is under house arrest in Albania whatever that's worth. There is now talk that if he was behind this, he may have been financed by a country...

The thing about house arrest has now been dismissed as misinformation taken from a foreign news company...

Ack! If you are near a tv, the south side of the South Tower is about to collapse--with rescue workers on top of it trying to save a woman they are in contact with who is trapped inside...

I have neighbors who are volunteer firefighters so you could only imagine the stories that they were telling me...man oh man...

This morning I woke up and I smelled all the smoke from NYC, and I live about 45 minutes to an hour away from the city...when you walked outside the smell hit you like a ton of bricks. By mid-afternoon it didn't smell so bad.

Love n peace everyone

I've heard some interesting rumors about the significance of the numbers of the hijacked flights.

Rumor 1: The first hijacked flight was number 11. Then was flight 93 (digits add up to 12), followed by flight 175 (digits add up to 13), and finally flight 77 (digits add up to 14).

Rumor 2: The numbers of the flights could relate to various historical dates. For example, (flight) 93 is the year of the WTC bombing. 11 is the date of the attack.
