Thank you for your support last September 11, and all the days since....

Duckie...

...as you know, this thread is just the tip of the conversational iceberg that existed within the forums that day...many of us talked and talked and talked via Private Messaging til the wee hours of the morning and I think we even had a 'chat session' in the forum chat room that night....

...I remember the chill I got when I saw two of our warplanes fly over my house, very low around noon...the thunderous noise brought back some vivid memories of my own......I was sure they were chasing another hijacked plane but all the planes had been grounded by then.

...I also remember the deafening silence of our skies as I sat near my open window that night pecking away at my keyboard with you and others....and then the eerie sound of the distant pulsating rotors of a helicopter transporting the injured to Yale New Haven Hospital's burn unit.

...just some of the memories from that day.

It says volumes about your character when you're capable of finding sympathy and empathy for us in spite of the insufferable personal losses you have endured...
Thanks Nutter.:)

I work about 5 minutes from Logan (where they hijacked planes took off from)...and while at work I can constantly here planes landing and taking off....I remember that day, I went out to my truck and saw 4 planes right in a row landing...I've NEVER seen that before...it was just ONE right after ANOTHER...and then for the rest of the day...SILENCE. SCARY!

what else is there to do its one thing to c it happen to ur self and only losse two people but when u c a whole country shook up like at. We have lived with this for almost 30 years and after a while it becomes a way of life but to see it happen to a country that u look up to because of its strength. but it has made the uk and the usa stronger as a whole.

My 2 cents...

I remember early on 09/11, PMing Mr. Promey back and forth, commenting on what a beautiful day it was and how I wish I wasn't at work, when everything changed. I can't help thinking about the people at the Towers and the Pentagon who were just beginning their day like me or the people on all of the planes that came down looking forward to their trips...and then, like blowing out a candle, all changed for them and their families and, actually, all of us left behind. Even though I am not able to visit here as much as I did then, I want to let everyone know at WDWMagic how much I appreciated them that day. If nothing else, the events of 9/11 sure make you grateful for that which you may have taken for granted before. Thanks again for your friendship then and this past year.

AMEN.

I was reading through the thread from the beginning and the more I read, the more I felt tears welling up but the strange thing is that I don't know why if that makes sense - I wasn't personally affected yet I feel some strange connection to those who were lost that day and those who gave all to try and save, even though I lived in England at the time.

I still remember the shiver that went down my spine upon first hearing about the situation as it was developing, thinking about it still produces that same shiver.

This was one bit that really got me "thousands of emergency workers are arriving, walking to the WTC..." :(

Never Forget.

I live not too far from O'Hare, and a ton of planes make there final approach over my house to one of the runways... so I grew up with the plane noise... I am used to it...

Then a few hours after the FAA ground stop... after all of downtown Chicago had been evacuated (the city was a ghost town)... and I finally I got home....looked up.... nothing... just quiet...

It was creepy... there were no planes for what a couple of days... and occasionaly I would see a Con trail way up in the sky... knowing full well it was from a military aircraft... cause those were the aircraft allowed in the air.

Thank you for being here

I just finished reading this thread and am amazed at the feelings that came rushing back to me from 2 years ago today. It was such a frightening time and it brings much sadness to my heart thinking of all those that lost their lives in this tragedy.
I am very grateful to have found a wonderful group of friends that I can share my feelings with - it helps to be able to reach out to someone that always seems to be there when you need them.
I wasn't a member of the boards 2 years ago, but can see that we were all experiencing this tragic loss in similar ways.

Thank you for being here and sharing the sadness as well as the magic like true friends do.

God Bless you all on this 2 year anniversary and
God Bless America!

I live in Rockland County, New York... about 20-30 miles outside of NYC. On the afternoon of 9/11 I had military jets fly over my house at extremely low levels (coming from Stewart Air Base in Newburgh, NY... 10 miles up the road), sounded like a freight train coming through my house. It was very surreal knowing where they were going and how close it really was.

I cannot believe it has been 2 years. Just reading stuff and watching the news....it feels like yesterday. Words cannot express how everyone is feeling right now. God Bless America!

Thanks again, Fievel, for bringing this thread back to the forefront. (And thanks, Steve, for maintaining it on the server.) It is a hugely valuable journal.

We must not forget. And we must continue to spread the true meaning of freedom.

Thanks again,
Paul

I grew up in the shadow of Stewart Air Base...Now Stewart International Airport. I would watch those big planes practice landing and taking off...beautiful.
I now live not too far away and am in the flight pattern for the airport...about 45 north of NYC. I remember those planes and the helicopters, too. Then all I remember was the silence...
