They ruined DL's Small World how much longer before they ruin ours?

:hammer:Weak arguments and you know it. So why fool yourself? You know they could have come up with SO much better stuff for Tomorrowland rather than throwing in whatever cartoon can fit even in the most remote way.
In a technological and visual sense, maybe but would they have been nearly as much fu to ride? No offense to any of the old school fans but I've seen footage of what Tomorrowland used to have before Buzz and Monsters Inc. and quite personally, I wasn't interested. Maybe I had to grow up with them like the rest of you did, but not once did I think "Ooh, I wish that was still there." I LIKE THE BUZZ LIGHTYEAR RIDE AND MONSTER'S INC SHOW! Way more than TimeKeeper and If you had wings. IMHO

People are not "demanding" charecters. You have no proof of that.
Okay, "demand" might've been a strong word. But I recall being six at Disney World at being either bored, scared with or just plain SKIIPPED most of the rides that didn't involve characters I knew and recognized. (minus Jungle Cruise, Small World, and Imagination) And if my generation was the begining of this way of thinking, then chances are it's only grown. I mean, if you look at modern media, everything is based on something else. Movies are based on old shows, Broadway shows are based on old movies, and most toy lines now are based on whatever's on TV or in movie theaters at the moment. now, one could argue that this only means people are out of ideas, (which may be true) but on the other hand, people desire familiarty more now than years ago. Most people now fear the unknown. Especially at the prices they gotta pay nowadays.

Funny how Disney theme parks lasted for a good four decades sans character overdosing ... yet now people have become so dumb ... so simple ... that a WDW visit is all about cartoons.

I must have missed the memo in the 90s.

Don't think of it as characters stuck in the middle of IaSW.

Think of it as the children of the world dressing up as their favorite Disney characters.

Dude, people ARE dumb and simple. Have you seen what passes as entertainment on Youtube?
and actually, I believe it was a slow process (If you'll pardon and old expression, like a frog on a stove) that Disney either didn't notice or didn't think to capitalize on because they spent two of those four decaded afraid to do anything in fear that it wouldn't be "What Walt would do." And we all saw where THAT got them. Nearly in a corporate buyout that would've destroyed Disney far worse than any character thrown in It's a Small World could've

That's a terrible attitude to take when it comes to catering to your customer. Especially for a company with such high standards and rich history as Disney. Sure, a good number of the people that enter the gates aren't the brightest, but I know the intelligent ones outnumber them quite a bit, and you really can't just leave them in the dark with an only catering to dumb people buisness motive.

I know you probaby meant "dumbed down," but if you were referring to intelligence level, that might be the "dumbest" thing you've said on this site.

The people who are attending Disney Theme Parks are no less intelligent than the people who were attending them 20 years ago. Fatter? maybe. Lazier? I guess a case could be made (but I don't buy it). Dumber? C'mon. That's plain crazy talk.

"Apathetic" may have been a better choice of term. Or perhaps most people are mentally more concerned with other, more important things than whether a theme park has over-synergized their franchises into their historically franchise-free attractions.

No matter how much fanboys proclaim, proselytize, and prognosticate, it always has been and always will be our view from a narrow prism, not the reality or concern of the general public.

I must have very low optimism in my fellow man, but no, I think they're dumber. I mean, were people trying to get children on roller coasters that they are clearly too small for 20 years ago? Or asking Disney Cast Members where they can find Bugs Bunny?
But when all is said and done, I just can't believe after Disney spent time and money to not only rebuild the ride structure so... larger people can ride it, but painstakingly restoring every original doll and their clothes to their original condition ad even adding a entire new scene, and all anyone here can say is that they don't like the new characters added on. I recall when Disney World's went under refurbishment and re-opened many complained that they didn't change anything. Now in THIS refurbishment, they DID redo it a bit and now everyone's complaining that they changed it! I picture Mickey in a corner sulking that no ones ever happy.

I can't speak for 20 years ago, but they were definately the same level of dumb 10 years ago when I worked there.

Just a personal pet peeve of mine...but the fact that some people don't pay a lot of attention to which imaginary cartoon critters are licensed to which corporate behemoths doesn't strike me as "dumb." It might indicate a little laziness...or it could just mean they're more concerned with having fun with their kids than with categorizing cartoon characters.

I also doubt it's a recent phenomenon. I can't prove it, but I'd feel pretty comfortable saying some people were walking into Disneyland in 1955 and looking around for Felix the Cat and Howdy Doody.

I agree with most of the other points you're making, by the way.

Could they at least make a point in remembering that Spider-Man and Superman are not Disney characters? That's happened alot to me (and one guest not believing me that the Tasmanian Devil is not a Disney character).

Um, dumb people have always come to the Disney parks. Just read Mouse Tales, which has a huge list of dumb things done by people at Disneyland ever since it opened. But there are far more smart ones than dumb ones that visit the park.

If you can't see what makes 74 tick than........maybe he is right.

I'm afraid your post was a waste of your time. He will only consider you dumb for not recognizing his genius.

I have changed my mind about 74 being a nobody however. The way he talks down to and insults people and yet they still defer to him makes me think he is a "wig" (I love that term).
