That same reason has been numerous times on this thread and twice on this page of the thread. So people the reason is if some how a park guest were injured on the TTA it would be a PR nightmare for WDW and cost them a lot of money in lawsuits. Closing it gives them time to give it some touch ups. Not to mention it will be a cost saving venture not paying for CMs to run it and electricty it is an economic cutback as well.

Thanks for saying this. I just read the posts of people who keep saying, "why can't TTA stay open during construction?" in utter disbelief.:brick::brick::brick::brick:

I mean seriously, they have to be joking because otherwise you are left to assume the are --:zipit:-- beyond measure. So, just had to vent that.:lookaroun

If at some stage they are just working on the lower sections beneath the TTA (which you have to believe will be happening at some point) then there is no 'real' safety reason not to allow the TTA to travel through! There's been building sites with cranes and scaffolding during construction inside the open and operating parks, sometimes just yards away from the passing public! Now I realize that there will be times when safety is a concern during some of the work, but it's not the real reason to shut it down for the whole of SM refurb. As others have correctly said, it will however save some money.

Any time there is heavy construction going on in the Mountain, which will be a vast majority of 2009, the company and their insurers will not want guests cruising through the middle of it. Way too much liability there.

Thank you for saying that! Now people can stop asking "Why is the TTA CLosed?" "Can't it still be open?"!!

I can see it now.
TTA stays open, operates as usual...except...as you go up the speedramp, each guest is handed a hard hat to wear for the duration of the ride.
Cool. They could put ears on them or something.

As I hear it, TTA will close for the duration of the asbestos and steel work inside the Mountain. When that is complete, and only show-related work is going on, the TTA will likely be allowed to run through the Mountain, but the windows will be blocked off to prevent guests from seeing inside.

Simple as that.

Just tinting the windows black, or putting up a pretty picture?

*EDIT*
I assume that the windows will be boarded/soundproof/bulletproof and that a canopy will be built over the TTA tunnel within the mountain.

But will we get a painting to look at?

And then the hordes of guests lining up to ride the peoplemover the day they take the tarps down.

That actually would be an okay idea. They could have sales and ads for various places/things in Tomorrowland. Expand the creativity.

You know, I meant the whole touchscreen thing as a joke, but you do have a point there. I've always wondred what the "Personal Rocket Ship Docking Lot" looked like. :D
