The TTA Update

I heard that it will be closed throughout the whole time!:cry:

Also, that they will be cleaning it up a bit. I hope they do though change things up like the weird hair part with the person getting hair done! Found it really random!

Am I imagining things or is that a scene from Horizons? It may not be but I thiink the first time I saw it, it reminded me of Horizons so I have a 'Horizons Moment' everytime I pass by.

While I wouldn't want them to change the voice, the narration needs to be changed. Half the stuff it mentions has changed.

Half? I would most certainly not say half. Just only when it approaches SGE and MILF would it need new material to announce those attractions. Everything else is fine.

CLose - it was a male in a `Tan-o-Matic` dome in Horizons. You`re right though; it has more than a passing resembalance.

Maybe they're just waiting 'till Stitch moves across the park and MI Laugh Floor is relocated/removed....Well, I can dream can't I? :animwink:

Actually SGE may not be around much longer so no reason to put that on the soundtrack. :lookaroun

As for narration, to me it really depends on if there going to keep the 1994 "50s sci-fi metropolis" theme or redo it to a new futuristic theme. If there going to keep the '94 theme then definetly keep the narration and just add modificatations here and there. But if we get a new theme then I want a new narration (preferably something similar to the 80s/early 90s peoplemover narration with the womans voice and the occasional upbeat music).

I too would be heartbroken if they changed the voice, i love the "now approaching"....

What is the reason they need to close this the entire time SM is down? If its because you can see into SM while on the TTA, couldnt they just black out the windows temporarily?

I would love to see some great updates, ones that hopefully retain the nostalgia of the original ride. I had noticed last time we rode it that there were quite a few blank moments where you are riding along, looking at blank hallways and walls. I love the miniature scene and anything else quirky that screams futuristic (such as the salon). Here's hoping Disney does some great things here.

I'm still confused why that even though they mention the Tomorrowland Interplanetary Convention Center

I also am not sure why, but I'm sure not going to complain :sohappy:

It's sad that the happiest I get in Tomorrowland is when the TTA crosses that audio.

Let`s start an Orac-1.... or Orac-2 petition

They need to close the TTA at certain times when the track on the lift hill and surrounding areas is being removed/replaced and other things are being done in the vacinity. Lots of heavy metal moving around above guests heads isn`t good for the insurance.

The dampening system on the drive motors wore out YEARS ago... very costly to replace/fix each individual motor chassis.

Hmmm... What motors are you referring to? The in-track LIMs? I'm having trouble visualizing what kind of dampening system would be involved with them. I could see if they moved around in their mounting brackets they'd clunk, but because there's no physical contact between the trains and the motors I wouldn't think that the clunk would be something you could feel in the trains. Plus, there are a LOT more LIMs on the track than places where you feel a clunk.

I've always assumed that the clunks were the car's wheels rolling over mis-alligned joints in the ride track. And because there's really no suspension on the trains, it clunks and you feel it.

Thats what I was thinking. I always thought it was a track problem, not a motor problem. :veryconfu

I was talking about SSE, not TTA.

I hope they don't get rid of the sexy lady wearing the black stockings in the tunnel as you enter the Buzz Lightyear part of the building :p. My wife was amazed that stocking tops were on show on a Disney ride.

Still, it should be done.. it ruins the experience a little..

From what I understand TTA will NOT be closed for the rehab, save for a few 'special' periods.... I would assume it would need the most down time when then enclose space mountains queue/loading dock.

So it may be a bit sad but that "clanking" is part of the TTA experience to me. I've been going to WDW since I was 5 but that noise has always been included in my memories.

I don't see why they would need to close it for the whole time SM is down since I'm sure the windows in that part can be covered.

Any time there is heavy construction going on in the Mountain, which will be a vast majority of 2009, the company and their insurers will not want guests cruising through the middle of it. Way too much liability there.
