Seriously. Lou has to be working for the Mouse. Why wouldn't Disney just host this event themselves? (Or did they?) Anyone have insight?

"Hollywood, Sunset, and the Tower Tour – Early/Late Morning
Hollywood, 1939. Amid the glitz and the glitter of a bustling, young movie town at the height of its golden age, Lou Mongello will take you on a walking tour of Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards in Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well explore their history (both real and Imagineered), details, stories and secrets to enhance your enjoyment and appreciation of the park. We’ll end at the Hollywood Tower Hotel and take a detailed look at the attraction, what it almost was, some fun facts and trivia. There will be 2 morning tours, each limited to 6 people per tour. Tours will last approximately 90 minutes. $59 per person (The Twilight Zone premiered on television in 1959)

Studios Quest – 1:30-3:00pm
This Quest is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction The WDW Radio team presents a Hollywood & Sunset “Quest” – a friendly competition/scavenger hunt throughout Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Teams can consist of 1-4 people as you embark on journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. Quest time is from 1:30-3:00pm. $27 per team

Meet of the Month – 3:00-4:30pm
One stormy night long ago, a group of people stepped through the door of an elevator and into Disney’s Hollywood Studios. That door is opening once again, and this time it’s opening for you… All of you. Everyone is welcome to gather at the Sunset Ranch Market covered seating area near Fairfax Fare for a casual get together. Grab some food and a drink or just come to meet new friends. That’s the signpost up ahead… your next stop… The Meet of the Month. Always FREE

Twilight at the Tower – 8:00pm-Midnight
There’s “Time Enough at Last” to join Lou and and a very small group of “guests” as we go back in time and “check in” to be the first (and only) guests of the Hollywood Tower Hotel. After the park closes, you will travel to another dimension, where hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served on the balcony of the Hotel… along with a few surprises, of course… $179 per person (ages 16 and up)"

Of course, but she wasn't just an activist who made a fuss. Her activism has hurt many gay couples who wanted to adopt children for decades.
Agree

My biggest mentors in photography as a teen were a gay couple learned a lot from them perhaps most important lesson was that not everyone is 'like me' and there is much to learn from those who march to a different drummer.

Really? That bad. Well, it's great that they didn't replace anything of quality with that, right? I wonder how much $$$ they are saving. Likely less annually than the furniture in George and Andy's place cost.

Regarding the lumberjack show, I think the classic TDO stupidity here is that any savings in cutting Off Kilter will be outweighed by the loss in booze sales due to the new show.

Lots of folks used to grab a drink and watch Off-Kilter. Are people really going to do that to watch hillbilly lumberjacks? Much like a bar with live music to drive drink sales...can they really not see this?

I am still amazed that Disney allows this to happen. $179/person...are you freakin kidding me? They are seriously letting him do the last tour after the park closes.

@WDW1974, you mentioned that the $1.25 billion investment in Disneyland Paris has been in the works for over a year. What effect, if any do you see this happening on the rumored investment in DHS/DHA?

Well geez, hopefully NONE considering P&R investment levels are at historic lows (thanks @ParentsOf4!). WDC can easily afford to fix up DLRP and DHS at the same time.

He also did a total 180 on the Maelstrom re-do. The below is from an Orlando Sentinel article in March.

"Lou Mongello, host of an unofficial Disney World podcast on WDWRadio.com, said it's natural that when a Disney movie becomes a hit, "everyone starts talking grand plan: 'Oh, they're taking out Maelstrom and they're putting in the Frozen ride.'"

But Mongello noted that creating an attraction takes years, and he's not sure about the plausibility of revamping Maelstrom, a dark boat ride that tours Norwegian seas.

"World Showcase is a world's fair," Mongello pointed out. "It's meant to showcase the culture of ... these countries. If all of a sudden it becomes a 'Frozen' ride, it's something very different."

On his most recent podcasts, he is now defending the change because the parks need to evolve.

Wasn't there an ex Guest Relations CM that tried to charge guests for his own tour inside the MK and was shut down? What is the difference?
Jim Hill was shut down in Disneyland. The explanation I had heard was that because Lou has a Florida Travel Agent License he can operate the tours in park. As for the $179 after hours tour, I have no idea.

Nope they will/should charge him...you can hire anywhere on property if you have the money. I remember hearing the cost for TSMM area + desserts and a bar and the cost involved in that made my jar hit the floor.

The fact he has a loyal following for whatever weird reason he'll easily get a group of suckers to pay $179.

Good grief. Isn't it refreshing to see someone who has principles and standards and is willing to stand up for them, and not just fall in line to keep the gravy train rolling. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Please note the above post may contain trace amounts of sarcasm.

ETA: One should note however, that the managing partner of Euro Disney SCA (which is a partnership on shares) is fully ownend by TWDC and hence Disney has full control over the management of Euro Disney SCA despite not owning the majority of the shares.

Who manages Euro Disney SCA is not particularly important.

With non-Disney entities currently holding 60% of Euro Disney stock, financial benefits resulting from any corporate Disney investment in DLP will get distributed disproportionately to those who, at this point, are just along for the ride.

Disney's latest financing scheme forces other shareholders to ante up if they want to continue to play.

What Disney really wants is ownership so it can reap the benefits of any investment.

Corporate Disney should defer further investment in DLP until it has overwhelming ownership of Euro Disney. I hate to say this but, from a business perspective, they really should let the place grow stagnant until overwhelming ownership is achieved.

They have no such similar excuse for letting WDW grow stale; it's only short-term greed.

By the way, I like long-term greed. :D

I think were all about making the absolute greatest amount of money over a long term.

Reminds me of the get rich quick scheme people.

http://www.wdwradio.com/2014/09/wdw...come-frozen-attraction-epcots-world-showcase/

You're right.

Basically to sum it up. He goes on a rant about how Epcot evolves, claims that Frozen is inspired by Norway and is the "best fit," because building a whole new attraction would "take too long," argues that because other characters are in WS (esp Aladdin in Morocco) it's okay for Frozen, then proceeds to call out anyone who is "angry" (I wonder if he's talking about us?;)) and dismisses their views because we don't know what the attraction will be.

He also dismisses the fact that Frozen is better suited in Fantasyland because "where would you put it?"

For a guy who's supposedly full of WDW history and nostalgia, I don't see it here. I see a guy simply trying to defend his brand at all costs.

So. With the current crackdown on tripods and their belief that anyone without fancy tripod is doing some sort of commercial filming, you would assume their next target would be Lou.

I've been unfairly accused of commercial filming twice now and honestly I just don't like having to conversations with security. That being said, I don't understand how Disney can continue to allow him to do tors of its parts with him charging money for it or any of the other numerous things he does and makes money off of it.
