The Spirited Seventh Heaven ...

So. With the current crackdown on tripods and their belief that anyone without fancy tripod is doing some sort of commercial filming, you would assume their next target would be Lou.

I've been unfairly accused of commercial filming twice now and honestly I just don't like having to conversations with security. That being said, I don't understand how Disney can continue to allow him to do tors of its parts with him charging money for it or any of the other numerous things he does and makes money off of it.
Hasn't '74 been saying that for a while too? Makes no sense unless he's unofficially on the payroll, or has something on them...

Everyone I've talked to has categorically deny him being on the payroll. So I'm going as far as to express their personal feelings on the matter. (I will share them, but they're very similar to our feelings.)

Groupie? Maybe that's better term. Either way, he's somebody's favorite. And that person is the one who likely hook them up with the BBC. Most likely it's all just favor for a favor…

I sincerely doubt there is any money changing hands but there is the appearance of special treatment. Such is my speculation. Such is my opinion.

But at the end of the day, I really don't give a rats rear ens what Lou Mongillo does. He doesn't affect my income, he doesn't affect my life, I have no general opinion on him positive or negative. I just simply don't care.

Just a quick thought on the new lumberjack show...

Do you think Disney, a company which has been "trying" to focus on the "going green" aspect in iur culture a of late, will receive backlash from all the trees their show is using and destroying for entertainment purposes???

You're right.

Basically to sum it up. He goes on a rant about how Epcot evolves, claims that Frozen is inspired by Norway and is the "best fit," because building a whole new attraction would "take too long," argues that because other characters are in WS (esp Aladdin in Morocco) it's okay for Frozen, then proceeds to call out anyone who is "angry" (I wonder if he's talking about us?;)) and dismisses their views because we don't know what the attraction will be.

He also dismisses the fact that Frozen is better suited in Fantasyland because "where would you put it?"

For a guy who's supposedly full of WDW history and nostalgia, I don't see it here. I see a guy simply trying to defend his brand at all costs.
Defend his brand and protect his ability to operate freely.

There are different ways to be on the payroll.

He is not an employee, or a contractor. His benefits include complimentary trips, hotel stays, events, tours, food and beverage, and of course access. Which is why he is exempt from the newly defined park rules.

I had wondered the same thing, but they do say in the show for each tree used they will offset the environmental impact by planting 3 trees.

Yeah, I wouldn't even know about him if people on here didn't constantly bring him up. Honestly, I don't get why people care whether he is on the payroll or not; it seems like such an insignificant issue yet I see him talked about over and over.

He came up this time because he was interviewed by the BBC about the Disneyland Paris financial deal yesterday.

I have to give him credit; he has found a way to make a living out of something he truly loves. But if he's going to put himself out there in such a public way, I'm not going to hesitate to point out when I think he's blatantly wrong.

I think it is important to know when information is not given in a way that is impartial.

Readers or listeners need to know if the person giving it to them is being influenced by the producers of the product that is being discussed. Many of the Disney blogs are heavily influenced by Disney through fear of benefit removal.

Places for a Frozen E-ticket in Fantasyland (via reworking current infrastructure and relocations):
  1. Behind Mermaid/IASW - you could fit a whole Arendale miniland. Matterhorn replica, something like Enchanted Snow Palace, a show/M&G and something like Junkyard Jamboree themed to Olaf.
  2. By Storybook Circus - remove the tents and a large amount of space opens up.
  3. On the Fantasyland side of Tomorrowland Speedway - bulldoze the track, maybe even relocate Barnstormer to the tent area, and you could fit a Frozen dark ride.
There's plenty of room at MK for 10-15 new attractions (not replacements) if TDO was willing to invest in reworking the infrastructure to move backstage further back. Or even build beyond the berm like Disneyland does.

  1. Fire Mountain and Indiana Jones Adventure in Adventureland
  2. A family dark ride and E-ticket (Geyser themed?) for Frontierland
  3. Something new for Liberty Square
  4. Fantasyland expansion - Arendale, Neverland, Wonderland and Pleasure Island would be amazing
  5. Tomorrowland update/revamp - build behind Space Mountain and current Speedway. family dark ride themed to time travel (throwback to Horizons and Adventures Through Inner Space), TRON E-ticket (speedbike dark ride/coaster), Stitch play area, high capacity enclosed Flying Saucers esque flat ride, CoP updates, GotG takes over Stitch, BH6 takes over Buzz, WALL-E takes over Laugh Floor, Wreck-it Ralph replaces the Speedway (more interactive dark ride format)

I'm sorry, I know we get horribly off topic but this really strange… Can you take that to be Imagineering forum?

I know there's a lot of wishful thinking there, but honestly it serves as a good look at how MK is still under built. Despite Disney's apparent insistence that MK is done from an actual expansion standpoint (and the refusal to actually expand unused space in any of the parks).

I tend to agree, I just dont want to get into 17 pages about "Frozen to the MK" that blows past the DLP bailout.

I guess when put into the context of MM+, 1B Euros ($1.25B) isnt that much money.
