Everything I have read has been saying the Banshee flight simulator will be more of a Soarin' Reboot, but do you have any more information on it?

Not beyond what insiders have been saying. Calling it Soarin' is a bit disingenuous though. It won't be the greatest E-ticket of all time, but it certainly is going to be an E.

You don't care?!?! Why do I bother? Why? WHY?!?!!

Well, the late 2015 sailings were announced and all I will say is that Disney didn't originally plan on going back to Galveston or doing a month of sailings from San Diego (the worst, most unorganized place I have ever gotten off a ship, btw) ... so read into that what you will.

I know I keep saying this, but DCL is adding ships (plural). It's just a question of when and I think it is going to be much sooner than Disney is publicly saying.

I recall you were going to do our cruise and then decided on DLR instead. You should have done like the Faux Top One Percent and done BOTH! ...It is a lot of fun to cross the Canal and I loved getting 25 hour days versus the 23 hour days on all my transatlantics.

Yes, I saw you had the very hot weird weather versus the California perfect weather we had (like I keep saying, climate change is an evil liberal media creation designed to harm business!) The Grand is a wonderful hotel, but we booked it using DVC points for a villa. I wouldn't pay anywhere close to what they charge otherwise when I can PL a Marriott for $50-60 a night nearby. But be warned that September typically gets the weird weather you had a month ago.

As to DLR and capacity issues ... that discussion will also be coming. (Loved walking by the ticket booths late one night and talking about how ridiculous the prices have gotten only to wake up to the prices having MAGICally been raised over night).

You bother because other people here do care. I don't personally have an interest in the WDW happenings at this moment because my brain still, after 3 years, can't conceive of going back there. Until it affects where I want to go, eh, who cares. But you do a very good job at bringing the info so here's a big atta boy on that ---> ATTA BOY!!!! <--'nd all that jazz. :p

I was rather surprised at the return of DCL to Galveston. I'm definitely going to take advantage since that's my backyard and all. I'm still clueless as to what would've prompted that. Yep. I have zero problem claiming that I am clueless. I am. Sometimes you just gotta be happy when the happy stuff falls in your lap. This is me.

I wouldn't expect any less than pairs for any future ships. I'm curious as to which markets Disney would branch out to with additional ships. The world's a big place and there's a lot of places to go.

Oh, honey, I do wish I could've done like you Faux Top One Percent'ers do. Not in the cards. DH's work schedule wouldn't allow for it not to mention 2-3 weeks without pay this year would've been a lot more money than the cost of the trip itself. Some folks gotta work. Regularly. :p Things should work out better next year on all fronts. Not being a contractor anymore = benefits like paid time off.

That crazy sandblasting is another reason I'm second-guessing going back to DL. I guess I could take the perspective that with the crazy amount I'm spending I'm getting a free bonus microdermabrasion treatment. :cautious:Yeah, the going rates for the Grand are a bit nauseating. I did look into renting points but I think that takes more luck than I currently have. Another reason I'm thinking --> Pass. I'd love to go back but --geez-- it was a LOT of people. Our last evening we just walked away when we could've stayed in the parks until midnight. The Friday night crowd was unbelievable. But hey, good on Disney. They're raking it in over there and doing the parks up right. What we could see in DL was pretty awesome. We found ourselves much more in-love with DCA, tho.

Yep. We bought APs from way.com and I see we got a better deal than we bargained for. I'm very interested in Disney's plans to handle the flux of APs out west. They stopped selling the longer multi-day tickets so people started buying APs instead. Now they have too many APs out there so what's next?

Let's not pretend that the reason people dislike the idea of Frozen in Norway is because Maelstrom is a great ride. It isn't. Maelstrom is a C ticket boat ride that hasn't been updated in 25 years. The objection is that there are at least two better parks for a Frozen attraction.

I disagree for a couple of reasons. The first is that I do appreciate the attraction for what it is--a brief, but unique ride representing a bit of the history and culture of the pavilion's host country. (We make fun of it all the time--"The spirit of Norway has always involved trolls in some way..."--but in the same loving way my other sons make fun of their goofiest brother.) The second is that this pattern of overlaying World Showcase attractions with cartoon characters essentially guarantees that TDO will never again take seriously the notion of adding a similarly culturally relevant or reverent attraction to the countries in EPCOT. Remember the rumors of the bullet train/Mt. Fuji attraction in Japan? Frozen replacing Maelstrom in Norway spells death forever for that and all similar ideas.

Ok so Norway pavillion is going to turn into Frozen..basically. Is it going to confuse people that Norway was never actually mentioned as the location in the movie? Say what we will, the 3 Caballeros did have some Mexico connection that was confirmed?

Even though this was predicted and now confirmed, and maybe this will get tomatoes thrown at me, but wouldn't Frozen lend itself perfectly to a Weather Pavillion? I know that the 'weather' idea was an older rumor but it would make a much better, less thrown together idea than putting Anna and Elsa into Maelstrom. Future World could certainly use the traffic and new attractions.

If they're so dead set on doing this, why not put it into an appropriate pavillion instead of diminishing both the 'Frozen' property and the Norway Pavillion?

That being said, I've never been a huge Maelstrom fan. Aside from it being unimpressive, I really dislike log flume type rides.

Funny you mention the Japan bullet train considering it was also rumored that at some point that it was going to be a character tie-in attraction for this non-Disney franchise.

It'd be great if Disney unearthed this idea and approached Toho about it again in light of the new movie, but with Legendary/Universal's partnership, that's the more likely place a Godzilla ride's gonna go and that'll be the thing that completely steals a day from Disney in my future trips and focusing a day on Star Wars Weekends is the one thing that's kept me on a Disney dominated week the last couple visits.

I say get the rights to the new movie and finally put the bullet train in Japan with a huge monster fight at the end of it.

Maelstrom is...ok. It's a cute little ride, which suits it's location.

Frozen...ugh...no thanks. No interest in the film or a cheap overlay based on it. Especially not in a park where it has no business being.

I wonder...what if Maelstrom wasn't available for the overlay? Where would they shoehorn Frozen in then?

I do agree that a pattern is developing to the further inclusion of characters into the countries. However, I don't have a problem with the characters if they blend in to the cultural significance of the pavilion and are not a distraction.

If we take into context the eleven pavilions, there are six pavilions that have an attraction (ride or show) associated. Out of those six, only one (now rumored to be two) will have characters. I understand there is a trend, but I don't think it's an epidemic. I think careful inclusion of relevant characters in their respective countries is fine, just as long as it's not overdone.

I also don't think it's the end of all hope for culturally relevant additions/refurbs. O Canada! was refurbed in 2007. France and China still have their culturally significant films. And the American Adventure has not been tampered with...thank goodness. While you mentioned the Japan ride, there was also rumored to be a Rhine River boat ride in Germany. The ride was scrapped but the space is still there for a potential attraction like that.

I spend a lot of time in Norway and I wish the pavilion did more to showcase the culture and attitude of the Norwegians. It really is a stunning place that the people alone really make an impression on people. I wish they had a whole lodge for people to stay in where people could immerse themselves with Norweigans.

Plus, it would be even more reason to import more CMs from Norway :) They stimulate both the boys and girls.
It's called North Dakota.

As someone of Norwegian descent, I remember how excited I was when I found out Norway was getting a pavilion. Then I experienced it and was left conflicted. I loved Akershus (reminded me of Great Aunt Ingabord's cooking) and the Stave Church, loathed Maelstrom. There's faaaarrrr more to Norwegian culture and history than Vikings, trolls and polar bears, and I always thought the ride was a parody of my heritage. I get that with all of the WS pavilions, they go with a "greatest hits" approach to summarize a country into an easily digestible experience, I just felt all of the other pavilions did so in a more measured manner.

Now that Akershus is a Princess dining location w/ dumbed-down menu, all I have use for the pavilion is getting some lefse for a snack and restocking of Laila for my mom and wife.

While I agree adding in Frozen is a wedge issue and represents a slippery slope for what's left of Epcot, personally, I think it actually would inspire people to learn more about this culturally-rich nation on their own instead of relying on a short, poorly-executed boat ride to inform them all they need to know about Norway.

Probably the next place that has snow. Expedition Everest.

They could do a Frozen overlay and have the Yeti be a giant Olaf snowman. That way, they don't have to fix it and his stationary figure can be part of the "story";)

I probably shouldn't give them any ideas....

Then it might have a better chance of getting its own attraction.
