Feel free to live vicariously. I won't even send fanboi minions for $$$.

I agree with your Frozen comments. I'd much rather see an E-Ticket at MK or even Studios than this. But, rest assured, some park(s) will get that. Maybe TDL or SDL or even DL ... but not any WDW park.

I have no new info on Avatar and/or RoL. I have strong rumours that Pandora's C-Ticket boat ride has been axed and that Cameron was told that Disney will add it later when they can ''do it right'' ... but that hasn't been confirmed.

RoL will apparently follow the piecemeal (i.e. half-arsed) New Fantasyland model of opening everything separately and will open 12-18 months before Pandora.

I know nothing about Flamingo Crossings. I believe @wdwmagic posted that Marriott had agreed to build two of its mid/low end properties out in the area where the Orange Bird had been buried!

Is there any good news you can give on when a "real" E ticket will be built in one of the WDW parks? With rides being cut, rides being overlayed on top of current existing rides, and then rides sitting in disrepair, I am losing a lot of hopes for WDW during the next 7-8 years. I will still go there because there because of the feeling I get from being on property and being there with my family, but I am definitely starting to not feel the "Disney Urge" as much.

I remember it being quite vague what the actual attraction was beyond it was a boat ride.. and they were throwing the thrill/fear thing around alot. It's kind of fun to think back to that era where we didn't have POV videos, we didn't have much beyond the tour books to know what to expect. So that unknown and build up.. and then bam.. flat. Maybe we can blame Disney a bit for how they promoted the attraction.. but it's interesting to hear other people's recollections from the period.

I was a kid who liked EPCOT quite a bit and have found memories of it being one of the first places my parents really let me explore on my own and meet up with them at fixed times. The seating in the communications hub after SSE was a great meeting place for a young teen like me :)
It's funny to watch posters get upset over the "misrepresentation" of SDMT in that new ad when Maelstrom was depicted as a scary thrill ride in promotional footage. You'd think that backwards drop were several stories high.

Hey @WDW1974 , One of your old friends from LP (TDLFAN) showed up there and did a review of the Mine Train. Guess what, he thought it was the best thing that WDW has done in years. All in the spirit (sorry, you don't have the word spirit copyrighted yet do you) of the Disney of old. Thumbs up, great job. Yea, I know... I almost broke my keyboard as my jaw dropped. He said something good about WDW! Whoda thunk it! So perhaps you should reevaluate your thoughts about Mine Train. To go back a little ways in time... Hey, Mikey likes it!:jawdrop:

It is truly a breath of fresh air to have you back again Spirit.

I just want to chime in about Maelstrom potentially (probably?) becoming Frozen. This could actually improve the attraction. (Wait before you tune me out.) I 'experienced' Maelstrom recently in honor of this rumors. One of common complaint about the attraction is that it feels short. That's probably because it's portrayed as a thrill ride... but what if it were sold as a fairy tale dark ride? The ride is four and a half minutes long according to Wikipedia... that's long for a dark ride, in between Pan and Mermaid.

On that long lift could be lots of story elements and things to see... instead of spending what feels like a minute staring into an eyeball. The troll area feels underused and could contain more animatronics and lighting. Same for the polar bear area and the oil rig. There is so much room in there for story. Maelstrom becoming Frozen could actually make it "feel" longer and richer.

It would be up to a good designer to make this happen.

Let's not pretend that the reason people dislike the idea of Frozen in Norway is because Maelstrom is a great ride. It isn't. Maelstrom is a C ticket boat ride that hasn't been updated in 25 years. The objection is that there are at least two better parks for a Frozen attraction.

Well that and there are more exciting rides you could add to Epcot, like two mountain coasters and new pavilions.

So if this Frozen ride is to happen...WS still opens at 11AM?
It is hard for WS not to open before 11 AM even after the frozen attraction. I think what will happen is since Norway has a Character Breakfast, the frozen attraction will open before 11AM as a way to spread guests away from Soarin' and Test Track when the park opens.

I'm starting to think I'm one of the only ones here that really likes the ride (even if it does need an update).

Looking forward to hearing about your cruise @WDW1974. Personally, the cruise I took in 2012 aboard The Dream was a Disney highlight for me. The level of customer service, cleanliness (they clean your Stateroom several times a day!) and fun that we experienced on that trip was amazing. We are looking to take one of the longer voyages for our 20th anniversary in 2015.

As for Malestrom...I'm rather bummed about this. I love the Norway Pavilion and find its unintentional retro feel somewhat charming. That movie...the lovely gift shops (yes, I wear Laila perfume. Thanks for asking!) I will be sad to see it change to "Frozen Central".

I think it's telling that your WDW info is so quiet right now. Guess that means we really aren't getting much to look forward to in the next few years. Sigh....

I don't "hate" Maelstrom, and it is a rather short, unimpressive ride. But it is a ride in an area in serious need of rides. I don't consider it an abomination to defile this "classic" attraction either. I just consider it disrespectful to a pavilion designed to showcase a country to add an relatively cheap overlay to showcase a Disney movie. It does nothing to enhance Norway and does nothing to satisfy fans of the movie.

The Epcot Manifesto
Why do I keep getting the impression when I hear this overlay described that they are basically going to throw a bunch of these around the attraction

and call up Josh Gad to do a voiceover and call it day

2017 with Pandora. Beyond that though things aren't looking so good. I have a feeling there is only going to be one E-ticket built this decade in WDW, how sad is that?
Everything I have read has been saying the Banshee flight simulator will be more of a Soarin' Reboot, but do you have any more information on it?
