Clever move by Disney to pull frozen out of the bag, at the last minute too (good call Photodave) just goes to show they can do it when they put their minds to it, or were they (TDO) pushed by the higher ups.

Been watching this thread go back and forth Uni this, Disney that, Uni this................

anigif_enhanced-buzz-31116-1332427366-9.gif

Which made me wonder if Spirit is enjoying Wimbledon? as you mentioned the French open earlier in the thread, which the awesome Rafa is dominant in (clay) but on the grass of SW19? still good but certainly beatable, can Murray retain the title?

Another quick question whilst I am here. Here in the not so sunny UK I am a chef manager for a worldwide company, Sodexo. A few weeks ago I had a memo stating that they had won a contract providing catering services for WDW cast. This arm of the business is called Sodexo magic, just wondered if anyone knows of, has used, or can elaborate more on this. What are your thoughts on the service they supply, who are they serving and where?

Love the kitties. Too bad they aren't blue and eight-feet tall.

No, haven't paid any attention to Wimbledon thus far. I have some friends over there, but I just don't have the interest.

I did watch the second half of the Germany-USA World Cup game (bored me to tears as all soccer does!) with my second-favorite German on the phone. To be honest, 'Angie. M.' wasn't much more excited than I was, but I think she spent the night drinking beer and eating pretzels und wurst (more exciting than my night thus far).

I'm not against an Apple Store per se, and I'm sure it'll be a hit, but I'll be curious to see how and where it'll be integrated into Disney Springs. All the renderings suggest Disney's trying to dial back the era of Downtown Disney to conjure a more traditional, historic Floridian atmosphere, while Apple stores tend to feature some of the most cutting edge and contemporary design in the retail industry. To me that doesn't seem like a perfect fit, and I'll be curious to see to what extent Apple will be willing to accommodate the theme of Disney Springs.
Disney Springs though is supposed to be a contemporary, revitalized old town which gives it room to have contemporary "in fill." Apple might also be agreeable to doing a "renovation" like they have done with a few older buildings in major cities.

I am fairly certain this isn't true. I think it is an urban/Internet/CM myth ... there was a popular one a decade plus ago about her owning/running cast housing at WDW as well.

After five minutes of searching, I cant find it. And thats all the time I'm giving Jane Breckenridge

Hmm, on the subject of NBC and their ability to utilize their resources to promote their parks....

-------------------------------

First Jimmy Fallon, then "Today" and now Meredith Vieira.

NBC just can't help loving the Wizarding World of Harry Potter -- Diagon Alley.

Vieira hosts a special, "Harry Potter: The Making of Diagon Alley," at 8 p.m. Monday on NBC (WESH-Channel 2 locally). The NBC News program will be another promotional push for the attraction, which opens July 8 at Universal Orlando Resort. The resort and NBC are part of NBCUniversal.

Not surprising. And Meredith is a big Potter fan, so I wonder if she lobbied for the gig. ... It looks like the last night of June will find me sitting in front of the TV for this, another hour of 24 (and who didn't see a much larger conspiracy coming there?), and the season 2 premiere of Inside the Dome. ... So, three of the four networks have things that will entertain me. Not ABC.

Are they doing this because they want something open before july 8

No. They may think they're going to get an added benefit from that, but I can't believe people will be stupid enough (especially sans marketing ... unless they just gave it an emergency bonus) to think this is something major.

JT ... your schtick on Pleasure Island is deader than Card Walker. Bury it, dude. Move on.

I know you think you're bothering folks here (maybe even me), but many of us (like me) weren't huge fans of PI to begin with. We just didn't like seeing it butchered for absolutely nothing. You get a bulge from Disney redeveloping a mall/lifestyle center. Great for you. Just stay away from the kids.

If you think that having a resort that is 43 square miles (is that Jason Grandt on Twitter or someone else? those crazy kids always confuse me) without adult venues, then you aren't thinking like someone with a good grasp on reality. All those conventioneers that Disney covets don't book meals with foamheads for entertainment.

I call BS! You mean to tell me there is no chance in hell that when I open the door to your '79 ' Camaro not a single "Frankie and the West End Boys" 8-track will NOT fall out?

The food at the DU was horrible and expensive. I can see why that myth bubbled up never again

Pretty sure that this is more about keeping people at DHS through the evening and boosting studio's numbers more than anything.

I wonder if they'll have JK on.

Mmm... Who is this really for?
I don't see tourist flocking to an Apple store on vacation

I have no idea beyond the fact Apple is hugely popular. It will likely draw locals more than tourists, although who knows? Disney is so tech oriented that maybe their goal is for everyone to buy the new iPhone14s while on their MAGICal vacations complete with a free with purchase Disney-IP cover.

I never feel comfortable in Apple Stores. I imagine I'd feel the same way in a hip SoBe club where you need to buy a $700 bottle to get in the door. Just not my scene.

Got to stay at the Hard Rock last month and it was nicer and cheaper than any of the Deluxe Disney's I have stayed at. Nice room, good food, drinks and great service. Everytime I was at the pool and attendant would stop by every so often and ask me if I needed anything. Of course , I love rock music and it was cool just wandering the hotel looking at all the stuff. And the Express Pass was great. Hit both parks the last 2 hours they were open and hit 8 rides and I wasn't even trying hard. Fun resort and a nice beautiful path and short walk to the parks.

Yes, they have real 4-star service at the UNI resorts. This isn't Disney where there often is no difference in service between the Pop Century and the Grand Flo. ... I have never done Hard Rock at UNI, simply because I prefer the other two themes better and have been to other Hard Rocks all over the world. The Hotel/Casino in Macau is simply amazing ... and the Vegas Hotel has the best deal on food of any of the top resorts at Mr. Lucky's coffee shop. I used to love going to the local one in Hollywood to dine at Council Oak Steakhouse before they turned it into an expense account (or true nu-Vegas) kind of deal.

I refuse to defend Apple, nor its fanbois.

I do enjoy using Apple's products but hate the way they force you to upgrade through not supporting older products.

I may not be a fanboi but when we switched to Macbooks and FCP over 3 years ago at work it made our lives so much easier than when we edited on PC's. Price is the only reason I haven't switched to a macbook on my personal video editing projects.
