T-land will be getting a redo and, yes, Star Wars is coming ... but they are going to take their time. They have already thrown out plans for DLR and TPFKaTD-MGMS and started again.

Do you have any other information on this? Should we expect the DLR and WDW (and maybe Tokyo?) additions to happen roughtly simultaneously or will DHS be postponed to later?

And if they have "thrown out plans", so that mean the previous rumored slate of attractions is off the table? We heard rumors of:

* Endor speeder bike coaster
* Ewok village and walk-through attraction
* Indoor Jedi Training show
* Millennium Falcon walk through
* Mos Eisley Cantina with "interactive dining experience"

The new system is far better than before in every way for a vacationer. Saying that "normal" people don't like it is just not true.

You do realize the majority of Orlando vacationers do not stay on property and do not have APs--meaning they don't have access to this system? Disney fanboard provincialism.

I agree the new system is better for APs like me than anyone else. I took advantage of it to get an early FP to 7 Dwarves Sunday, was in and off and back on my way in 2 hours. But the byproduct--insane lines for attractions that shouldn't have them--is obvious at this point. And that will end up affecting on-site guests more than APs, and off-site guests more than on-site guests.

No idea where this is, but the lawyers are pretty vicious over these things in Mouse Town. Big stink a couple years ago when they made a day care center take down a mural (WB ended up coming in and letting the center use baby Looney Toons for free). In other words, if I managed the IHOP on 192, I wouldn't get any ideas. :confused:
The day care thing was close to 2 decades ago and Disney got heaps of bad press over it.

Again, Disney can't keep the fake characters from meeting outside their flagship store in TS (and they could stop it if they wanted). They won't do anything about this.

Sure some over planning g soccer mom's are going to love this, but I dnot believe for one minute that anyone really wanted this or would be mad if it was gone. It's wasted money and imo ruined it for day guests or last minute ones.

IMHO, I don't think you have a good grasp on the attitudes of the majority of the guests who go to WDW. As I've said in a previous post, people seem to view the MB favorably, feeling that it is convenient.

Honestly, for many people planning a big trip, having a few things planned each day (say three rides and 1 meal) isn't exactly an onerous and in many ways it is actually a relief to have a rough itinerary as opposed to winging it and having to run around to get paper FP or just not use FP at all and wait in long lines all day.

Again, this is just IMHO and based on my interactions with other people who have used MBs/FP+. I'm not saying it is some massive improvement or that it was worth the money, but it's a net positive for many guests.

Preface: not trying to make fun of you with this.
But when I read your post, I pictured a dude wearing a short sleeve shirt with a tie, pocket protector, and large teeth walking around the parks with a collapsible screen and projector trying to explain to people why nextgen was an actual benefit instead of a misallocation of funds. I just don't see the average park-goer giving a $/@/) about the details of such a thing.
Again, not trying to make fun. Just the image that came to mind.
Um... No. If you search my posts, you will see I've always thought NetGen was a bad idea. I brought it up with these people as a conversation piece. I was there by myself last Friday, and normally I'm very shy. So, while I was in line for 90 mins for SWMT, for example, with a group of good-looking 20-something single girls, I was trying to strike up a conversation, talking about everything from Avatar to NextGen to Disneyland. I held their attention during that entire time and they looked very fascinated in what I said, but I probably sounded totally nerdy, but my nerdiness for Disney held the conversation and kept them interested. And I was sober.

Exactly, instead of giving people reasons to want to stay on site, they're inconveniencing people that opt to stay off site.

I used it a few months ago sir.. The band is slightly mor convenient than keeping my ticket in my wallet, everyone should like that... FP+ is not... It simply punishes those who do not buy tickets months in advance.

Peter - it's not that people don't like you, but when you post the same comments in multiple threads and don't let it go, it just gets on everyone's nerves. As far as the pile of dirt thread is concerned, all those comments were just meant to be funny - nothing attacking you. read it again - some of those comments are pretty darn funny.
I think that thread might have went *poof*.

I don't have any hard evidence, but my impression is that Disney's stance on certain kinds of copyright/trademark prosecution has softened considerably since then.
The incident you're talking about happened back in 1989 and Disney is still catching negative publicity from it, your mention being proof of that.

... I am reminded of a conversation I had with two dear friends about the Disney fan community and how you can never make them happy and I agree. Not sure what makes fans happy, but sometimes I am convinced it is bad news. I could start a thread about how great my cruise was and how much I enjoyed DLR, but that isn't really what most of you want to hear.

I am truly sorry for all of us that the WDW of 2014 isn't the WDW of 1974 or 1984 or 1994. I am sorry that it is largely run by soul less execs that only care about the bottom line, and that they have destroyed much of what made the place special for millions of us. But that simply is the reality. You can make the best of it or stop visiting or visit and spend less (as I do) or rail about it online and to folks behind the scenes and see what kind of toxic stew you can brew that just might take a few of those missing souls down into the abyss ...
Best. Post. Ever.

If Disney hasn't stopped the characters in Times Square they aren't going to do squat about this.

It's actually bit different using Disney characters to promote a business than using off-brand costumes in Times Square. IHOP (who has deeper pockets than a bum in Times Square) is directly profiting off the brand and characters. I would issue a cease and desist. It's also super tacky at IHOP, so sue for image alone.

Part of being able to maintain ownership of intellectual property is actively protecting that intellectual property.

When the characters are meeting right outside their flagship store? No. Disney could stop it if they wanted. They have not.

A random IHOP franchise is not on their radar no matter how badly some of you seem to want it to be.

The most immediately effective means of dealing with the fake characters in Times Square would be through the police, not the courts, an avenue over which Disney has less control. A franchise restaurant coming to their attention is something that can be handled through the courts and is more than likely something Disney would be obliged to pursue in order to avoid setting a precedent. This is why Google will send cease and desists to small websites that use Google as a verb.
