The Spirited 11th Hour ...

Non spoiler discussion. I liked it, I didn't love it. Part of the problem is I think a center speaker was having problems in the theater I went to so much of the audio seemed slightly off to me. I also speculate that I didn't see it in the best 3D format either because it didn't look as visually stunning as I expected.

Very minor spoilers below:
I loved the cowbell nod. Deliberate but not over the top. I thought the kid who played Mowgli was very good, but I would have liked a bit more snark out of him. No surprise really but Baloo/Bill Murray was the strongest part. I don't feel King Louis/Christopher Walken was as good as I wanted him to be.
Wow. I noticed the cowbell but never made the connection lol. I saw the movie in 2D so it looked great to me.

I must be the only one who thought the kid's acting wasn't that great. He was good at conveying emotion but sometimes his delivery made it clear he was reacting to green screen.

He has never acted before and was basically doing Castaway/Life of PIe as his first movie role at the age of 10. I'm cutting him a bit of slack. To put it in perspective I thought the kids in Jurassic World, who have acted before, were much worse than Mowgli.

Never seen such a long list of digital artists for a film before, and each of them did a fantastic job. The movie looks incredible and Bill Murray was inspired casting for Baloo.

The only thing I didn't like is that the two songs seemed half-executed, like someone at the studio told them they had to get them in there and they did the absolute minimum. Might sound sacrilegious, but I'd have preferred it if they left the songs out. Still a fine film.
Those are the two songs that people know, and I agree they didn't really go "all out" with either of them. As a fan of Zoo Tycoon 2, I do appreciate mentioning the Gigantopithacus, but thought it was odd that they opted to not animate King Louis at all and just shine a strobe light on him.

Just saw a late showing of The Jungle Book. I loved it. Perfect casting choices.
Bill Murray and Christopher Walken absolutely killed it with "Bear Necessities" and "I Wanna Be Like You." The latter put such a smile on my face  If that was Scarlett Johansson singing "Trust In Me" during the credits I'm kind of disappointed that wasn't in the actual movie because she did it so well. The story of Mowgli's father could've easily been saved for Shere Khan to reveal. Oh well, just a minor gripe.
I'll agree and say I enjoyed this more than the original.

Going to see it tomorrow. I hope the spanish voice cast didn't ruined it... not having my hopes very high as the trailer was downright bad.

They don't have showings in English and Spanish subtitles? I saw Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest in Israel and it was like that. Cars too.

not anymore..
the companies decide to "cut costs" and only very few cinemas have with subtitles.
All animated movies or for kids.. are dubbed now.
