The Rainless, Sweat Filled and Toupee-ful June Trip of MillerPoppins

Ok kids...I debated writing this trip report only because it is so short and kinda had a personal issue thrown in the middle of a day. But I can't let my crew here down! Because I've got more crazy stories, more food photos and lots of stupid humor to provide you with! And for those of you who do follow along with my antics, you are brave souls. This trip was a short one, and as mentioned, does have a couple hours missing of stuff, but nevertheless has more crazy stuff from yours truly. And without further ranting, let's re-introduce our cast of characters!

Well...there's me. Foodie, Work in Food & Beverage, love ALL things Disney, Star Wars nut, Boo obsessed and giant sized kid.

100_6438.jpg

Tim, my BF and love of my life, is not joining us for this trip either sadly. Duty calls at the job front and could not make it.

So, once again my partner in crime for most of the trip will be.....Jennie!!!!

100_6442.jpg

Jennie, another lover of all things Disney, has been living down here for 10 years and working for Disney during that entire time. She is the BIGGEST Star Wars fan you will ever meet and my awesome friend for 15 years now.

Also joining us on this trip, our buddy Keith.

100_7323.jpg

Keith has been a great friend of Jennie's for 10 years now and is also a huge Disney fan. Giant goofball, just like Jennie and I, and fits in perfectly with our stupidness.

So here we go...another entry into MillerPoppins' Adventures in WDW sans rain this time!

yay!! I´m happy to see there´s a new trip report from you! I´m sure it will be a lot of fun.
The red velvet cheesecake cupcake is def. in my to do list for september. Glad to see you liked it!

I´ll be waiting for more!

Thank you!
I am not a sweets person at all. So I was surprised at how excited I was to try this thing and it certainly delivered!

Oh yay! I'm sooo in!

Can I just say that when I was drooling over the Starring Rolls offerings I was thinking, "ooooh...red velvet cheesecake....that would be my choice!" then when it was your choice I really got excited!!! I was thinking perhaps it would be like so many other things at WDW where it looks & sounds fabulous but then isn't. So glad it was!!! Maybe I'll go get me one next trip!

You NEED to get this cupcake. It is better then any other cupcake out there! It's so moist and flavorful. Totally amazing. I will hold all cupcakes to a superior standard now thanks to that monster. Thanks for reading!

*note to self* Go to Starring Roles on upcoming trip!!!!! I keep seeing fantastic pictures from this place and I have yet to visit it (a crime, I know!)

I had followed along on your previous report and it was such a fun read. Can't wait to hear what you thought of Star Tours! :D

Thank you so much! And yes, GO TO STARRING ROLLS!!!!

Count me in for you TR! I can't wait to read the rest!

So tell me...(and forgive me if you wrote TRs and I was too lazy to check the links...) when were your other two trips this past year (you mentioned this being your third in less than a year-LUCKY!!)

I too am a huge Star Wars nut! Just yesterday I was sportin' my Star Wars retro t-shirt around town...;)

Thank you! My other two trips this past year were October 2010 and March/April 2011. Both of my other trip reports are in my signature if you are interested. Yes I am a HUGE Star Wars nerd! Glad to see I found another one!

WooHoo- LOVE FOOD !!! :slurp::D I'm in!

Disney Food is even better!!!

Yay, I love your TRs, and reading about your trip will help me pass the remaining 19 days until my trip!

I can't wait to go back to Starring Rolls. It used to be a must-do for my family, but I haven't been back since they re-did the layout (which was, what, 5 years ago - at least? Sad, I know).

Thank you! Yes get yourself and your family to Starring Rolls. It can get really congested in the morning but is a great afternoon stop!

Love your TRs! I haven't yet checked out starring rolls... But that will definitely change this fall! That cupcake looks a-MAAAAAAzing!! Looking fwd to the rest of your report :)

Thank you!!! This whole response post is just a giant commercial to go to Starring Rolls. They'll have an influx of business due to this post!

Yay for food ! I must try starring rolls this September when I go, how is the iced coffee???

Can't wait to read the rest!

The iced coffee is great. I'm a fan of anything that can get caffeine into my system quickly. So it's perfect! Thank you for reading!

YAY KAREN TO THE RESCUEEEEEEEE,I was having a really bad day n night n then I came here n found a tr from u woohoo now i'm smiling n excited cause i know all ur tr's r fun n cute!!!!!!!

Awww thanks!

Great Pics so far. You have to get after that man of yours, you gotta bring him over to our side. Bribe hime with a case of Molsons or so.

Did yoy get over to Le Cellier for the Poutine:ROFLOL:

What? Get him on the website? He's become a big Disney fan and totally would have come with me if not for that pesky thing called work. He's actually not a Molson fan so much. But he does enjoy a nice Pabst from time to time.

I would have loved to have gotten over to Le Cellier for some poutine and cheddar cheese soup but alas, it's just not that easy. Thanks for reading!

Yay another TR! I'm so glad you went with the Red Velvet Cheesecake Cupcake. I knew you would not be disappointed! :slurp: I want one now!!

It was AMAZING!!!! Thanks for reading!

Yay! Thanks!

Ahh asked from a fellow New englander!!! I'm sure it not anything compared to Dunkin!....Although love my Keurig!!!!

Ok Dunkin is definitely the best, right up there with Wawa. So it wasn't as good as those two but it served it's purpose and was also yummy! :animwink:

Iced coffee fans! Shoot me a PM with your email address for a killer recipe my cousin sent me! I'm gonna try it probably today. :slurp:

Post in on here Sweetpee!!!! I'd love to see it!

I totally didn't want to take over your TR or anything but the iced coffee talk gets me all excited!

All credit for this link goes to my cousin's killer wife (kerby626 here on WDWMagic) who chases around twin toddlers and still finds the time to send me these little gems. This little blurb on this blog just rocks my coffee-lovin' soul. So simplistic it's almost wrong. Why didn't I think of this? Duh! Read thru to the comments. There's a great tip to do ice cubes with coffee so you don't water your cup o'happy down with regular ice cubes! Genius, I tell you!

Enjoy!

Yay! :sohappy:

Loved the last trip report. Can't wait to read this one.

I keep wanting to get to Starring Roles for a cupcake. I've shown pictures to my wife (who is known for not liking WDW) but she says they are "too fancy". She prefers the plain chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting we had at the POR food court.

Yeah, she's wrong a lot.

LOOOVE that you're at HS first, makes my day - and your improved selfies make me smile.. you guys are proooo.

Hoping to see more hat photos? No? You can stick with cupcakes, that's okay too ;)

Awww thanks! Ok you need to go in and get your own cupcake then. And when you say how amazing it is, and she asks for a bite then shut it down. These things are amazing and totally worth the trip!

So we wandered through the Streets of America and made our way up towards Star Tours. I took a few shots here but I still wish there was something more to this area. Oh well...

So we hit up Star Tours and found a 20 minute Stand-By line, or so it said. The line was wrapped out the front of the building which seemed a lot longer then 20 minutes. The FP's were still available and for a half hour later. It was a no brainer! We grabbed them and then opted to stop off at Muppets!

100_6957.jpg

In another first for me, the queue for this one was wrapped out the building and down the side. I had never seen that! So we jumped it and made our way through. I had never been here and found the area delightful!

100_6959.jpg

Loved the lights over here!

100_6960.jpg

And these posters! How awesome are they!?

100_6961.jpg

Really enjoy the small caption on the bottom of this one...

100_6962.jpg

How fun!? It was quite warm at this point so we were anxious to make our way inside for the pre-show, which we caught all of. Ahhh...isn't air conditioning like THE BEST invention ever??? Seriously, whoever created it is my hero!

100_6965.jpg

So after a "tribute to all countries but mostly America", we wandered the Studio Store for some fun Muppets Merch. Jennie and I are store creatures. We always end up in stores we pass and 75% of the time do not buy anything. But we love to look! It takes up a good amount of time and also gives us another breathe of air conditioning.

But now the time had arrived. It was time for a trip to a galaxy far far away!!!! I was PUMPED! Ok note to add here...Jennie, as I have mentioned is the biggest Star Wars fan I have ever met. She has tons of merchandise, can recite the movies and faithfully goes to Star Wars Weekends every year. One of the very few attractions she can not do in WDW is Star Tours! Reason? Motion Sickness on simulators. Let's just say her first and only ride on Mission Space did not end well. So she has not been on Star Tours in a good 12+ years. However, she agreed that when the ride was finished it's refurb, she would give it a shot. She had taken a spin on the one in CA first, but now it was time with me. This was HUGE in my book. The person who introduced me to Star Wars and had refused to get on the ride in the past was finally going on with me! I was even more excited!!!

So we headed towards it...

100_6966.jpg

Prior to Jennie getting on though, the agreement was made that she would need a cold, fresh bottle of water for the ride. While there is no drinking on the ride and her intention was not to do so, it's a cold item that she can hold if it gets to be too much for her. So while she purchased, I checked out the Star Tours kiosk.

100_6968.jpg

There it is!

100_6969.jpg

And finally we were ready! I needed a photo to commemorate this special occasion!

100_6970.jpg

She's ready to go, well, as ready as she will be. I'm pretty much the cause why she is going. Note that dude in the background does not look as excited as us.

Love the TR so far!! Starring Rolls is the BEST! We discovered it in May and it wasa toss up between the Red Velvet cupcake and the marble cupcake.. The marble won out cause I love yellow cake! Might have to try the Red Velvet next time though... Or maybe Ill suggest we all (there are 3 of us going) get a different one and share. Then we'll get a taste of everything!!

Can't wait to read the rest!!!

The suspense is killing me. How'd she do on Star Tours?

Thanks! I think the sharing idea is great, but I'm sorry I would not be up for sharing the Red Velvet. It is just TOO darn good!!!!

It seems like you go to Disney World everyday :animwink:

It does doesn't it??? Feels like I was just there...:D

So in through the queue we went...I was so excited, I was literally jumping through the path! Jennie was also excited, but I think a bit nervous/apprehensive too. Plus there were these guys...

100_6972.jpg

We went in and found much of the queue to be the same as before. Our old friends C3PO was there along with my favorite, R2D2! Sorry some of these photos didn't come out so great.

100_6973.jpg

100_6975.jpg

As we entered the second room, we found an awesome window up top that shows various shadows of Star Wars characters passing through. We didn't get to watch this too much, but what I saw was really fun.

100_6977.jpg

Finally we made it to the start of the loading area where we were sent into a backrow after picking up our glasses. I felt like a five year old on Christmas Eve...I couldn't wait any longer!!

Within seconds, we were loading and in we went. Nothing changed with the seating area at all so that was the same. We stored our belongings and got set. The doors closed and we started. I'm not going to reveal everything that happens during the ride because that eliminates a lot of the fun for those of you who have not gone yet. But I was thoroughly impressed. About midway through the show, I noticed Jennie take the bottom of her bottle of water and plunk in on to her collarbone. I asked if she was ok and she just nodded. She had her eyes open and bless her heart, she was plugging along! A few minutes later and we were done! What they have done is simply awesome for those out there that are huge Star Wars fans. The only real complaint I had was that it seemed noticeably shorter then the previous show. Jennie was mad because out of 54 combinations you can get for rides, she happened to go to one of the same planets she went to in Cali. Poor girl, she gets on the ride twice after over 12 years and gets the same show. We got out of our ship and found the nearest bench. Jennie leaned against the wall and downed some of her water. She was ok, just needed a minute or two to get her bearings. I didn't blame her either! I don't have a problem with motion sickness and I was even a little queasy. It's a bit intense!

After a few minutes, we headed to Tatooine Traders. I got a shot of her, post ride!

100_6978.jpg

Of course we wandered around the store for a bit and then decided to head out. I was really happy we got to do it. If it was just me, I would have ran back on again right away to see what combination I got, but I wanted to spend time with Jennie before work and I knew she couldn't do another swing through. So we wandered around for a bit.

100_6980.jpg

Next up, the Great Movie Ride!

100_6982.jpg

I love, love, love the homage that is paid to Mary Poppins on this ride. I think it's part of the main reason I love it so much! I still run over to the window in the front of the theatre that has pictures from the Premiere every time I'm there. I love the horse in the lobby. I still get excited seeing the trailer in the queue. And of course the scene in the ride is awesome! There isn't a lot of merchandise for Mary Poppins because Julie Andrews won't sign over the rights for her image/likeness. Why? I will never understand. The sad part is because when people think of Mary Poppins, they immediately think of Julie Andrews. This being said, it makes it difficult to do merchandise. I think that's why I love hunting for it so much! Makes it more special when I do find something.

This is my "Julie's a@@ was right there" shot. Classy, I know.

100_6983.jpg

In we went, so quickly that we did not get to see the trailer sadly. But we got great seats!

100_6985.jpg

Our tour guide through the movies reminded me of Taylor Swift, which is fine, but I think she was new to the job. EXTREMELY over animated and talked with her arms a little too much.

Anywho, we made our way through and I got a shot of my girl!

100_6988.jpg

I really want to get a good camera because my pictures are starting to really slide. Oh well, once I have some extra cash, it's on!

100_6991.jpg

Hey, here's a bit of TGMR trivia. Did you know the actors/guides can not stray from their script at all? Why you may ask? Because it's actually licensed out and trademarked by MGM. A friend of mine who happens to be a cast member informed me of such info. ;)

100_6994.jpg

So we followed the yellow brick road out of there and made our way through the montage. Does anyone not love that movie montage??? I think it's so awesome! And I never get tired of watching it.

As we exited, we decided that we better grab something substantial to eat. Jennie still had to go to work in a few hours and I was having a major sugar rush. Pizza Planet it was! Back down the path we went and over to join our Toy Story friends at the coolest planetary hangout ever! Apparently though, everyone else had this same plan too as it was quite packed! We hopped in line though anyway as both of us wanted our mass produced pizza fix.

100_6998.jpg

Pizza Planet was definitely not down with the quick service today though. It took FOREVER for us to get to the ordering counter. Literally, we waited in line over a half hour just to place the order. Not fun. Plus this little punk kid in line next to me kept stepping on my heel while his father watched and didn't say a word. Not even after the fourth "ow" or yelp that came out. Grrrr!

So we finally got our pizzas and found a small table upstairs. Why, oh why, do we always manage to pick a table next to the screaming child who has parents that could care less. I'm not talking about a few tears or parents not giving in to a tantrum (which I totally support. Don't cave!!!). I'm talking full out terror on wheels running around going psycho bawling their eyes out mess. And the parents just chill. YOUR KID NEEDS A NAP!!!! I want to eat my pizza in peace!!! :ROFLOL:

Ahhhh mass produced pizza...how I love thee!

100_7000.jpg

We enjoyed our pizza planet trip and then had to head out. Sadly, it was time for Jennie to make her way to work. We had to battle the crowds that were lined up for the Pixar Pals parade. Darn, I would have liked to have seen my Boo, my Carl and my Russell. Oh well, next time..or so I thought. We were huffing it a bit to the front of the park but I managed to get a few random shots.

100_7002.jpg

Love the pin shop under the hat!

100_7003.jpg

So we cut through the stores and were right on side of the parade. I was craning to see if I saw any characters but the only one I could see was that stupid rat. COME ON!!!! Of all Pixar characters to have right by your side as your leaving the park, the one you loathe the most!!! BlleeehhhhH!!!!!

Once we got to the Crossroads area near the entrance, Jennie stopped in her tracks and turned around. She planned for us to stop there to watch the parade and then go! I was so excited, she's so tricky!!!

Awesome timing!!!

100_7004.jpg

Love me some Heimleich!

100_7006.jpg

100_7007.jpg

Here she comes!!! And here comes my 13 year old equivalent of a Justin Beiber fan!!!!

BOO!!!!!!!!!!

100_7009.jpg

She's just the cutest thing EVER!!!

100_7010.jpg

Hollybelle, you are KILLING me with those pixar weekend photos. I'm DYING to see my Boo up close!

100_7011.jpg

Sulley!!

100_7012.jpg

And here comes my UP boys! I think I've mentioned on here how much I fell in love with that movie. I truly think it is one of the greatest animated films ever done. Such a emotional and poignant story line weaved into a film for families. Who would have thought a movie about grief and moving on would work so well with talking dogs??

100_7018.jpg

Carl was working the crowd. He can really shake it for a seventy something year old!
