The New Fantasyland

ok, so I see all this great expansion and new stuff on the plans. Is there an actual re-theme of Fantasyland or no?

It looks like the entrance to Winnie the Pooh would be redone, but it's not clear for the other FL attractions. I would hope the faire part would be removed and keep the castle look but I have a feeling they will keep the fair feel.

Agreed. MK's capacity is busting at the seams currently. We've been just a little busy the past few days, and with Space and TTA closed, we've been insne.

I don't know. I don't consider a walk through a C, and adding another Dumbo doesn't make the ride a D, IMO. A stage show could be hit or miss, I would hope that it turns out well. As for Barnstormer, it's not an addition, so I wasn't really considering that, but i hope the retheme turns out nice.

And yes Mermaid will hopefully be a true E, as long as they don't water it down for us, which from all the reports I've heard, they won't.:D Again, I don't want to sound like I'm bashing these plans, because I am very excited. But I would have really like to see 1 more dark ride.

A few things to consider though. This is really a "land" designed for children. So what you consider an A or B may be a D or E to them. Dumbo-land  looks like much more than two flat rides placed next to each other. Much more! I think they have configured it for large crowds which they must be expecting.

What do you think of my BatB castle theory? Looks very similar to another castle if you ask me.

True, and from everything I've heard the 3 days I've been in O-town, which is much more than I thought I would, this expansion will hearken back to the glory days of theming, which is the most important thing for me.

I must have missed your theory. I just got in from my shift and have been cooling off from the 90 degrees and 900% humidity of today. What was it?

you think they will change it from Cinderella's to Belle's? and the cinderella's attraction will be her new smaller castle??

Snow White also appears to be receiving a new facade. I wonder how they will handle this, the other SW facades feature the queen figure that is in the first scene of our ride. Will they duplicate the figure or do without?

Philharmagic on the other hand looks like nothing will be done to it. I'm surprised they won't/haven't removed FP and it's queue as they are completely unnecessary.

Like I stated before, I don't know how the can not redo Peter Pan inside and out. It is the oldest Fantasyland dark ride at any Disney park.

The drawings seem to indicate as the approach to BatB-land will be crossing the bridge to the Beast's castle. Could the MK be getting a second castle that looks like this

Which looks similar to another castle currently being built nearby.

There's not a chance they change the facade... And from different angles, 2 facades would be REALLY bad... Like the birthday cake that didn't go all the way around. :brick:

The castle is iconic. I think they've said it's the most photographed building in the world. It's not going to be messed with.

I don't mind all this speculation... And this feels way more "real" than lots of things that have been talked about in recent history here... But let's not go gettin' CRAZY.

wow..just wow

All I see is abunch of fanboys foaming at the mouth over nothing.

Now what im about to say is all assuming this pic is real AND if its real its an APPROVED plan:

-"Voyage of the Little Mermaid" is one of the many working titles for the Little Mermaid ride. I've seen like 4 variations of the name but if it comes its the same ride. I believe DCA's is two story also (but theres starts on the first floor. FL's would start on the second floor and go down to the first floor which is the old 20k show building).

-Where are the attractions (besides mermaid?) where is the meet and potatoes? I see no new dark rides and if they spend the money on all these meet n greets and castle themeing they won't have money to refurb the existing attractions. The DL fantasyland dark rides are currently undergoing there THIRD wave of upgrades (the last one was in the 80s when there FL was remodeled) and yet over here they still have the same 1950s special effects from the original disneyland versions. This money could be much better spent adding Casey jr., Pinnochio, Alice in Wonderland, Storybook land canal boats, original attractions, etc.

-I heartily approve of the 2 Dumbo spinners. It may look wierd but if it gets rid of Aladdin's magic carpet it will kill like 3 birds with one stone. Of all the things ive heard about this rumored FL redo this is the thing that makes me the most happy as it helps restore the classic look of Adventureland.

-The Beauty & the Beast building is very wierd. Is there really demand for another reasturant at the MK? Especially when its so close to Cinderella's? I really hope theres more to this like a ride or the original Paris concept. Im gonna have to take a wait and see with this.

-This plan does not get rid of the carnivale facades. In fact by walling off the area there trying to make an excuse for it. They are taking the lazy way out as usual. Whereas Disneyland in the 80s got the rides redone (longer track, better effects) new facades, and themed queues in addition to new rides.

Assuming these plans are real I will give this blueprint a grade of B- . Theming, dumbo, and Little Mermaid are all good but the rest of the money could have been better spent adding another real attraction. I am totally confused at the amount of crazyness and hype in this thread though theres nothing here that really blows my mind or anything that we haven't heard about before.

I don't think some folks are understanding jt's implication that Be Our Guest's facade will look like the castle. Nothing is happening to Cinderella Castle.

It would be nice to have another weenie for the park and to be the only Disney park with two castles (granted they'll make sure that B&B's castle isn't as tall as Cindy's)

You are not getting what I'm saying. Look at the blueprints approach to the new restaurant. You are obviously approaching a castle like structure over a moat. I'm wondering if they are adding a forced perspective facade at the back of the new Fantasyland. It would help block the IaSW show building and the back of the facade could be unthemed.

My guess is it is because you are cynical and unable to see this project through the eyes of those it is meant for. Everything is not about you. Children go to WDW too.

While I know where you are trying to go with this MK is TOO much about the children, IMO. I still think it needs another thrill E-ticket.

Actually Disneyland Paris has already two castles: Sleeping Beauty's and in Alice's Curious Labyrinth the one of the Queen of Hearts. :)
