I'm glad so many people here enjoy Animal Crossing, I haven't played on my island in a long time but when covid first hit and we were locked down I spent all night playing that game for months. Speaking of games, yesterday I bought Civilization 6 to play with my friends after not playing a Civ game since Civ 5 and it is incredibly fun and I know I'm gonna be addicted again. It's definitely extra fun playing with friends and working together, makes it easier and the relationships you have with other city-states can help a lot when your friends are far away or vice versa and need to be friendly with other leaders. I only bought the $5 version but I'm tempted to grab the premium edition with all the DLC while it's 90% off.

That game is dangerous. I downloaded it last week on a whim (I hadn't played it in over a year) and sunk 6 hours into it that day.

I deleted it that night.

To be fair I told myself I would stop at midnight with my friends (2 hours) since I had to get up early for work today and I ended up playing til 2 AM instead, I told them to save and close the game at turn 90 or else I would've just kept going. One thing I will say is I LOVE the design of 6 compared to 5, the written map aesthetic is so much better than the clouds of undiscovered land in 5, and then land you have discovered but are out of range becoming a hand drawn map version of that tile is super clever and clean.

I did also get super into making up my own lore for my version of Rome to practice for D&D because one of my friends and I got super lucky and have basically been free to grow our territories with no attacks right next to each other and trade a bunch, but our other 2 friends got put on separate continents and have been getting invaded and raided all game, so I'm basically playing SimCity while they're playing Risk. I just laugh every time I talk about trades and peaceful deals with my one friend and come up with new "lore" and then listen to my other friends strategize how to survive all out warfare and almost losing entirely. I'm currently researching cartography and working my way down the tree to cross the ocean to reach my friends to provide backup, cause they might be screwed otherwise.

Well at the very least it makes it really easy to decide which rides to skip when you’re taking fam/ friends from out of town and in a time crunch… which keeps happening this year.

Bye bye HMH and Indy.

Magic Key “No Show” Hack: if you already have two no shows you may as well just set up a “fake” reservation, don’t show up and get your third no show. Just make sure you have your other 3-5 reservations (depending what pass you have) for dates you want to go. Better to get the 30 days of not being able to make a reservation over with than getting your third No show on day #89 and not being prepared for the inability to make a reservation for 30 days.

EDIT: just realized this probably doesn't make sense for Imagine passes who can only hold 2 reservations or people who go weekly or more.

I understand things come up "day of" and you can't avoid a "no-show". But 9 times out of 10 shouldn't someone know by 11:59p the night before that they won't be able to go and cancel the reservation to avoid the "no-show"?

For the most part. Last week my son was completely fine when we went to bed and came to our bed shivering with a fever at 3am. That was a No Show. This week my daughter came down with pink eye yesterday afternoon and I was able to cancel before midnight so no-No show this time but things happen.

Anyway the point of my post was should someone find themselves with two No-shows that tactic may not be a bad idea depending on their pass type and how often they visit the parks. I’ve never done it and it does come with the drawback of losing any possibility of spontaneity for 30 days of course.

I understand why you made the post, and I'm sure someone will find that "hack" useful. My question was more shouldn't a majority of no-shows be avoidable in most cases? Sure the whole kid gets sick at 3am the "day of" is one of those unavoidable ones, no debate about that. Its the "Eh, I just don't feel like going to DLR today I rather go to the beach instead even though I made a reservation" type no-show that I'm talking about. Not saying you're doing that, just that I can imagine a huge part of the Key population doing. Which is why the no-show policy exists.

I guess my distance from the Parks factors into the opinion that 99% of the time there shouldn't be a reason for a no-show.

I’d imagine most No Shows are either unavoidable, the pass holder is faced with a day of or night before decision/ dilemma or they simply forgot about the reservations. I don’t think there are a whole lot of “I’ll go to the beach instead” type people but I could be wrong.

Sometimes you may want to take a chance. Maybe you want to see how the weather turns out or if your kid will be feeling better and don’t want to lose the possibility of going.

You could be right. But even the "I forgot" is not an excuse in my book. I mean Disney literally sends you an email several days before to remind you about the reservation. So there should be no reason to forget about a Disneyland reservation. Heck if someone is that forgetful that they forget about a reservation to the Happiest Place on Earth, then they need to setup multiple reminders in their phone. :)

Excuse? Who cares? People are paying for their passes if they can’t make it for whatever reason they can’t make it. If they don’t make it 3 times in 90 days then they have deal with consequences. This is what happens when you add a reservation system to a theme park that caters to locals.

Its just a discussion my friend. People can do what they want, I honestly don't care. Its just my opinion that most of the time a no-show should and can be avoided. And yes I agree 3 strikes you're on timeout, deal with it.

Thanks, this makes sense. I hope never to need it but you never know.

RED ALERT?

Anyone know if this is legit? This guy has done solid reporting on parks in the past and doesn't normally make "joke" tweets.

EDIT: This is starting to get picked up by other MSM journalists on Twitter. I think this is for real.
