I’m glad Raising Cane’s is nowhere close to me. There would be a problem if there was.
I went the last 3 years hearing all my LA friends talk about how good Cane's was until they finally opened 2 locations near me last year. I have slowed down now but oh my god that first time trying it was so good I went back way more often than I should've. Plus both locations are like a 25 minute drive each way, so it was a real time commitment.

The food is addictive there! And when you have a bad craving for something, you’ll do almost anything to have it. I bet that hour-ish drive didn’t really bother you lol. As long as you got your hands on that Texas toast and chicken tendies, it didn’t matter.

Yeah I ended up picking up my girlfriend on the way a bunch of the times so it gave us time to hang out during my busy schedule during the semester, so I did not mind the drive too much. Plenty of times we've wanted an excuse to go out somewhere and get out of the house so we just drove to get Cane's. Now I'm really considering getting some tomorrow for lunch or dinner...

Speaking of Raising Cane's, I just wanted to share something I discovered earlier this year on Twitter: the Raising Cane's men's restroom in their DeKalb location is the absolute loudest door in the world and has become a cultural phenomenon people have traveled to just to record a video of themselves testing to see how loud the door really is.

Here I was thinking to myself that it can't be MY DeKalb, but sure enough it is...DeKalb, Illinois, 30-45 minutes west of the Chicago suburbs and home of Northern Illinois University, which has undoubtedly contributed to the awareness of this door.

Can confirm, seems excessively loud.

I've never before considered entering a restaurant, opening a restroom stall door, and leaving, but I may just have to do that if I'm ever in that area again and bored (as recounted previously in some thread on here, I am NOT a fan of Raising Cane's and will no longer eat their food after multiple bad experiences).

From a Reddit post so take with a grain of salt, but there's some reports that the cannons in Rise might finally be coming back, with the most pressing issue apparently being the equivalent of a programmatic clock drift:

Not holding my breath for this but if it is indeed the case I'm thrilled. (Now if they could fix it in time for next weekend when I take my cousins for the first time...)

Not Disney related.....

I branched out from my Roller Coaster Tycoon playing and my daughter and I finally jumped on the Animal Crossing bandwagon. We're totally hooked. 🤣🤣

I let her be the principal player, but I help her completer her "quests" by gathering extra stuff that she needs. While we have been diligently filling our island's museum, I had this thought about how cool it would be to add elements of Planet Coaster/RCT to the game play. i.e.: Adding a submarine ride to the back side of the museum. :D

My second thought was: Universal needs an Animal Crossing land. ;)

Since you mentioned Planet Coaster- there was a 'leak' on Reddit that has so far been accurate a while back, and one of the things shared is that Frontier is trying to get the Disney license for Planet Coaster 2.

Planet Coaster already has quite a few stuff that is very clearly identical to Disneyland- it'd be awesome to see what they can do with actual license if it happens.

The Disney license would definitely be a plus for Planco 2 sales, but I just hope that it wouldn’t be at the cost of losing original content. I love the characters, mascots and fake food brands Frontier created for Planet Coaster, and I really do not want a sequel full of nothing but Disney IPs. I play Planco to get *away* from Bobs-era Disney! 😄

A nice balance would be great, though, especially if it concentrated on ride systems not currently in the game. Would love the ability to create a bobsled or Space Mtn. Style coaster. I just don’t want to play a Planco 2 where some guy named Bob is forbidding any original ideas.

An Animal Crossing Village including a musical log flume ride, a Dodo Airlines spinner and the ability to order coffee from Brewster at the Roost would be my #1 pick for the next Nintendo addition after Donkey Kong.

So glad you’re enjoying AC! Isn’t it just the most charming game ever? 😃

“Luck” thoughts…

I am so disappointed. Been looking forward to the Lasseter-produced movie “Luck” for months and… Man, this movie needed more time in the oven.

Spoilers!!!!

It has one fantastic, charming sequence: the one where the girl chases the cat through the city. And Jeff the Unicorn is a fun character. Other plusses Include the music and the denizens of Bad Luck. And Bob the Cat is a good character, most of the time. BUT…

The main character, Samantha, has no personality except “spunky”. Her animation—aside from some good slapstick moments— is stiff and lifeless. Her background story is… really familiar. in fact, here’s a list of other properties Luck might remind you of:

Meet the Robinsons
Anastasia
Inside Out
Monsters Inc.
Spirited Away
Stranger Things
Zootopia
Shrek
Minions
Kiki’s Delivery Service

So much of it is a mishmash and so much doesn’t work. That stupid Irish Jig Penny Polishing scene is a good example; a lot of time and effort went into animating overly complex scenes that add nothing and aren’t funny.

Biggest sin and disappointment: The Land of Luck is boring. The writers and director spent a lot of time developing an elaborate process for the manufacture and distribution of good and bad luck… And not one bit of it is entertaining. Convoluted and requiring lots of expository dialogue, sure, but fun? No. In fact, the whole quest for a Lucky Penny idea is not strong enough to carry the film. In fact, it turns out that the very phrase “Lucky Penny” can quickly become super-irritating when it’s repeated constantly throughout a movie!

It’s not an awful film; there are many good moments, and things pick up once we meet the very likable folks who create *bad* luck; they should have been introduced far earlier. The conclusion is sweet, though it ends on a strangely abrupt note. And I wish the message had been more about confidence and perseverance rather than simply the acceptance of bad luck as a force of nature with a purpose.

And Jeff the Unicorn was refreshingly fun—the world needed a fat middle-aged unicorn with a mustache—but his romance with the Dragon CEO was way too similar to Donkey’s love story in Shrek.

Worth seeing, but ultimately a well-intentioned misfire. I hope the next Skydance film fares better.

Finally saw this and pretty much agree with every word especially your recap of the good. That one charming sequence you re referring to was really great. I finally woke up again when we were introduced to the denizens of bad luck at the bar. The movie instantly went downhill fast for me when she arrived at the Land of Luck. I wish there would have been more of a build up in the real world.

This movie had moments that were reminiscent of the best of Pixar but that second Act was boring and ultimately it just didn’t come together. With said it’s more or less on par with what’s been coming out of Disney/ Pixar the last few years minus a few standouts.

The only places we disagree.

- Didn’t care too much for Jeff the Unicorn. I feel like that character (and voice) are played out.

- I thought Samantha’s character was fine. It was really the convoluted, elaborate; boring lucky Penny stuff that ruined the movie.

I definitely agree- I would hope base game has minimal licensed content, but that you can purchase the 'Disney DLC' or something. So we can get Disney specific stuff, but not at the expense of the game.

I would love for a 100% accurate Disneyland to exist in Planco, it'd be great fun to be able to manipulate things and make changes.

I hope this one is true. I've ridden the ride 5-6 times and they have never worked. It would be a shame if this effect went the way of so many others that just never worked like advertised.

As a brand new Keyhole who hasn't been since March 2020, what is new/changed/going away? Jungle cruise, Spidey, Splash, Snow White? Anything else to add to my First Visit list?

Lots of menu changes and mobile order annoyances, can't parkhop til 1, and Genie+ are the big differences I can think of. Only other thing is the Lion King show if it's still around at the Fantasyland Theater.

I'm glad so many people here enjoy Animal Crossing, I haven't played on my island in a long time but when covid first hit and we were locked down I spent all night playing that game for months. Speaking of games, yesterday I bought Civilization 6 to play with my friends after not playing a Civ game since Civ 5 and it is incredibly fun and I know I'm gonna be addicted again. It's definitely extra fun playing with friends and working together, makes it easier and the relationships you have with other city-states can help a lot when your friends are far away or vice versa and need to be friendly with other leaders. I only bought the $5 version but I'm tempted to grab the premium edition with all the DLC while it's 90% off.
