Just saw a vintage Disneyland commercial from 1979 for Big Thunder. Looks like the water feature facing Big Thunder trail as the train curves into the cave wasn’t there. Anyone know when they added that?

Which water feature? If it's this one-

You can see it very briefly in this commercial (I set it to show at the right time)-

Good eye! I missed it on the left of the screen. Had me wondering if it was one of those things they added later during a plussing. That could be an interesting idea for a thread. Stuff we think has always been there but was really added at a later date.

The first two things I can think of are the skeletons playing chess, and the pirate with the cats in Pirates of the Caribbean- both were not there in 1967. I also believe the old man sitting outside the shack before the first drop wasn't there either- but don't quote me on that.

See I don’t think I knew the Pirates playing chess weren’t always there or maybe I forgot. I do know old Bill with the cats came to DLs version after Floridas. Or was it that they made two when they were building the MK version?

That sounds right- and would make sense that they touched up Anaheim's when building Florida's.

Here's the scene from 1967ish- minus the chess players. I think I remember hearing it was a Kim Irvine addition, which would mean not everything she's done is bad- but I'm not 100% sure.

Start that thread! I'll try and think of some other stuff

The chess players was copied from the queue in Florida.

I agree and said the exact thing to my wife Saturday night. Raising Canes kills CFA to be honest if we re going straight chicken to chicken comparison. The sandwich is niche* enough that I’ll prob still go to CFA for that. But their tenders suck.

*Niche in they have a specific flavor like McDonalds not that they re unique.

The CFA mac n cheese is legit.

Just finished rewatching Zootopia+ that dropped on Disney+ yesterday. Really love the shorts, but "Duke the Musical" stands out since that short is a musical where Alan Tudyk shows off his singing skills. I really hope the upcoming "Wish" movie actually gives him a singing role and musical number as Valentino the goat.

The old man outside the shack is a copy of a figure made for Florida's Rivers of American, later duplicated for Paris' Rivers of the Far West.

His name is Beacon Joe.

So here's a question: am I the only person who keeps up with the new animated films that had no idea that Disney's releasing a new animated feature in theaters in 13 days?

Maybe I've just been exceptionally busy and/or have removed myself from most entertainment that involves sitting through ads, but I couldn't have told you anything about the project at all, let alone the title, before five minutes ago.

It's not just you, Strange World has barerly gained that much advertisement compared to Disney's recent animated films.
