Well I have some ideas CharlieD...if you don't mind me throwing them out there? :D

Old Rome to me seems like rounded doorways, collumns, painted frescos, statuary and GOLD!

Check out the pantheon for maybe some dome ideas
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pantheon-panini.jpg
...or this...a place in Indiana I just visited that seems very Roman to me!

http://images.google.com/imgres?img...a=N&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbs=isch:1

Of course...this is just some ideas...you can take this in another direction if you want!

I don't want to be "that guy", but you guys only have two days to get this finished. This project depends heavily on all of you, so be sure to do your part.

Pool di Nettuno, Disney's Roman Resort DVC Pool

Pool di Nettuno, or Neptune's Pool, is themed to a large Roman bath, fit for Neptune.
Roman Bath Example:
http://www.myenglandtravel.com/images/bath/RomanBath.jpg

Collapsed temple ruins will surround the pool.
Like this:
http://www.publishyouropinion.com/Roman%20temple%201.jpg

At the end of the pool, two large stone tridents will support a strait-drop waterslide.
Trident Statue (without hand):

Waterslide (Point of No Return at Noah's Ark in Wisconsin Dells): http://www.wisconsin-dells-attractions.com/images/NOAHSARK2.jpg

A large statue of Neptune will sit at the other end of the pool, and will act as sort of a thing to climb on while in the pool.
Neptune Statue:
http://kristenashbysmith.com/kingneptunestatue.jpg

Wide waterfalls will be placed on each side of the pool, flowing from the temple ruins. The waterfalls' water will be delivered by acqueduct down the ruined stone walls. This in turn creates small alcoves on each side to sit behind the waterfalls.
Waterfall, with alcove (I want something like this, but replace the rocks with the stone temple ruins and you've got it) :

Acqueduct: http://richmond.ashraechapters.org/Aqueduct.jpg

That's what I have now, let me know if there's anything I can fix.

I'm not entirely sure about the temple ruins since aren't we supposed to make it so that everything looks new?

Not really digging the waterslide, it kind of goes against the elegance of everything else.

I like the rocky waterfall but again, please no ruins.

Yeah, the waterslide would dwarf the rest of the resort if we do something like the one at Noah's Ark.

See now, I might be in the minority...but I love the ruins!
I think they have just the right look. They totally fit the theme.

It doesn't say anywhere that we have to make everything look new!

If you are in Rome, the ruins of the ancient glory (like the colliseum) is only steps away from the glittering structures of Renaissance Italy.

I think it's both fun and themey. And for a pool...it makes sense.

The only thing I would do is change the waterslide slightly, and make it smaller to fit in better with the ruins. Most Deluxe resorts have waterslides in their pools, but they match the scale and theme of the place.

So how is the DVC lobby coming along? Stichcastle and figmntal...do either of you have any ideas for interiors?

And what about our restaurant and recreation, Kermit and Mewcastle ? Anything solid yet?

I have the layouts for the villas done, and I will upload them later tonight.

I would love if tomorrow morning, I can log on and see lots of ideas here.

I have to be the Easter Bunny for a few hours Saturday morning, and when I get back in the afternoon, I will do the write up of the presentation.

If there isn't anything from you guys, I'm just gonna make it up myself.

Chrono - 2 questions:

1. For your layout are you showing the exact placement of the villas? i.e. a top view of all the villas with the room number/type marked

2. For the interior room design, are you really theming it or just basics? Right now I have the deluxe rooms with some small hints of theming, otherwise they're just really luxurious rooms. Kind of like the rooms in the very nice vegas hotels. Themed in the common areas, with only subtle theming in the room.

Hey tazer...yes...I did an airiel veiw layout, color coded to the type of villas. I think I added 38 new DVC suites of various types between studio and deluxe two story (or which there is only one)

The rooms are mostly "luxury" themed...like you said, that can be found almost anywhere you find a nice resort...with roman themed art.

I did a drawing of one of the two bedroom villas with a collumn theme for the jacuzzi, and I was going to do another showing a more opulent suite for the high end deluxe room!

Awesome. Sounds like we're on the same page for layout/design of the two sections. Although I know you're drawing will blow mine out of the water :)

Hrană Dumnezeu (Food of the Gods):

Story:
While not having a definite story line, the restauraunt pays respects to the art of Roman culture.

Details:
The restauraunt is massive once you enter. The roof is fully domed and lit by a dark purple hue. Small light dots represent stars. Statues of various greek culture Gods surround the eating area. Painting (replicas) of famous works of art are located throughout the restauraunt. The center of the eating lounge is inhabitated by a massive stone fountain with unique sculptures telling a story of Roman battles.

Menu: (in order from breakfast to dinner)

Crepes
Pancakes
Waffles
Sweet Bread
Pizza
Saltimbocca alla Romana: Veal scallops cooked with white wine, sage and prosciutto
Abbacchio alla scottadito: roasted baby lamb chops served piping hot
Porchetta: suckling pig roasted, with laurel herb, garlic and black pepper, typical from the roman countryside
Honey Buns
Cheesecake a la Rome

Refreshments served range from soft drinks to wine.

and my next restauraunt....

I think the temple ruins were also a great idea, and our team leader agrees, so for now I'm keeping them. The Waterslide can be tweaked, I'll figure something out.

As for the interior of the DVC, maybe something a little less  then the main resort, but similar.

That sounds like a great plan...I personally would love my team to have everything by 6 so I can get the chance to work it into something that makes cohesive! (and fill in the gaps of whatever is missing!)

I guess if you write up the main hotel descriptions for your team,Vacationer... I'll just jump in with our descriptions and explain how they compliment yours and also how they are different!

We are doing a Gladiator Dinner Show, a pizzeria, and a traditional italian restaurant.

PS, should this resort have its own monorail spur, like the Persian Resort was planned to have?

So, just so I am on the same page... When you say Monorail spur, do you mean we extend the current track to include it, or do you mean we build another station on the main track and then second track that will connect to the main track? I'm guessing the latter, but I just want to be sure, and also, I want to know where it would connect back into the main loop.

What is a "reality show"-esque game without a few twists and turns! After all, I do like Julie Chen, what does she say again? Oh yes, "Expect the unexpected!". Do we have a surprise for you. Any guesses.....

..........

..........

..........

..........

...........

......................................................................DOUBLE ELIMINATION!!!

That is right, a Double Elimination. With this challenge both team leaders will be sending me their "bottom 2" of their team. And them TrevorA and I will look at the Team Leaders and the bottom 2 of each team. We will then elminate ONE PERSON from each team.

Hope You Enjoy This Twist!

Could the spur just branch off the existing track? We could even use a portion of line that goes to the maintenance area.

I will post the lobby later on.

I'm gotta admit, I'm surprised you guys can still afford to do a double elimination after all the drop outs we've had- is the game being shortened or something?

We planned the game layout around dropouts, that was a big change to this season. I'm glad we surprised you!
