Let's keep in mind that, if we're talking about the same space (I might be wrong) Disney was originally going to build the Venetian resort on this location, then cleared it away to build a Persian one, and then found that the ground was too wet for normal construction. You can build on the spot, you just need to dig a REALLY deep foundation. I'm not saying we shouldn't build there, just making sure we're aware of the history of the location.

Maybe we can make the swamp a feature? :D :D

Since this is a fantasy build, I think we can say that now the technology exists to dig deep enough foundations, or include enough watershed drainage that will make this possible.

My understanding is the ground issue at the area between the TTC and the Contemporary on Seven Seas. That's where the Venetian was supposed to go.

The Persian was supposed to go where we are thinking, but fell apart during the oil crisis.

I believe it was supposed to have a monorail stop, but as I look at a map, it may be tougher than it looks.

An Asian Resort was once planned for that space East of the Magic Kingdom, with a Monorail spur going to it. North of the Grand Floridian is far more isolated and I'm not sure but I think the land between the TTC and Epcot is too swampy.

actually the Asian Resort was planned for the spot where the GF is now. The eastern plot was reserved for the Persian Hotel.

The land between the TTC and Epcot is reserved for conservation and is supposed to remain untouched forever.

lesse... for the monorail, i know it's been an issue, but how that gets determined will depend on where the resort is located and how it will be connected to the line...

I do like the idea of hiding it somewhat with roman achitecture like aqueducts and arches. i'm not really sure if theres any real way to hide it tho. and remember, we'll have those more futuristic monorails in the long run too (see disneyland's) and that'll standout even more.

hmm... i thought about somthing like a coliseum wall to hide it some... , maybe too much. we could make a type of tunnel madde of arches to camoflage it, and make an interesting monorail entrance.

btw, are we focusing on just italian roman, or any of the other areas? I''m a big fan of byzantine architecure, which is a derivative of classical roman (being they were romans/direct descendants). things like mosaics, domes, and gilded architectecture sounds awesome :)

This sounds like the best place for the resort.

Yes
Just a little helpful hint: Wherever you decide to build the resort, the decision shouldn't be based on the sole fact of practicality. You are allowed to assume that Imagineers will eventually determine a way to construct on the swampland during the process of this project. The resort may be placed wherever you fancy it.

My idea for the pool is not based off of Neptune, but simply visually follows the the theme. Large columns support a water-slide that empties into a marble walled, rough bottom pool. Large fountains shoot over the middle of the pool. A marble island in the middle has planters and fountains.

Sorry,I did not have time to be on here. I like the location too.

I will not be around tomorrow until late,so continue to post please! Figmental, please post your idea and we'll compare. All of you please make comments on mine.

I like your idea, establishes the formality of the actual resort, while my idea establishes the mythological themes and ancient Rome ambiance.

My idea, as I posted earlier, is a large Roman bath, fit for Neptune. Collapsed temple ruins will surround the pool. At the end of the pool, two large stone tridents will support a widened waterslide. A large statue of Neptune will sit at the other end of the pool, and will act as sort of a thing to climb on while in the pool. I liked Fractal's acqueduct idea, so the waterfalls' water will be delivered by acqueduct down ruined stone walls, which in turn creates small alcoves on each side to sit behind the waterfalls.

I think it might be that the brainstorming stage is over and now people are just getting on with their part of the project. Having said that no one replied to me about what style the lobby should be for the deluxe hotel, I'm a little stuck on this!
