The Food At Disney Is Awful

On topic. My husband and I have rather ordinary tastes in food, but have eaten in various restaurants all across America: local, chain and well recognized high class. Over the years we have eaten in just about every restaurant on Disney property and have had only one poor meal experience at either DL or WDW.; unlike a couple of memorably terrible hambergers at other theme parks. Most of the fast food is good, but the usual. Disney has, however, greatly improved the variety and nurition of the QS food offered. If someone can't find something to their liking, they are not looking too hard. It is fast food, however, so do not expect gourmet meals. Except, maybe, at EPCOT's F&W.
The signature restaurants, on the whole, do a very good to excellent job with their offerings and we have no complaints. We have had classier gourmet meals elsewhere, but hey, Disney has to appeal to everyone's tastes and ability to pay. If not the absolute best, the signature restaurants still offer a fine meal. Plus Victoria and Alberts is as good as anywhere else in the country for a first class dining experience.
All of the restaurants, except V&A, have a children's menu. Then it is up to the parents to decide what they are going to do.

This is true about V&A.... It is as good as any place in the country.... Per se... TFL... 11 Madison... They do a great job... It is a must do for us every time... The queens room...

We've been twice as a big group and each time we've stressed the importance of ADR's, and each time we were met with "oh come on, as if you can't just walk in and get a table.....I'm not planning my while trip 6 months ahead of time, etc". So each time my husband and I would take care of our family and experience all these great meals, while the others did QS.
Also, my children are young (now 2 and 4), they are active little kids and I find it easier to bring them to a TS. My son has food allergies and is a picky eater and the Chefs have always been accommodating.

To be fair to OPs co-worker, the food can be and usually is mediocre. My kids hate table service, they always have. Quick service options are good at Epcot, but unless you enjoy dining on a trash can or fighting with other people for a seat you won't enjoy it most days at least not for dinner. Everywhere else it's mostly the same stuff, all of it mass produced and tasteless. Sounds like your co-worker didn't have a good plan and was disappointed. Your co-worker is right, you don't understand.

QS can be mediocre, but the sit downs (with the exception of the MK, which can't seem to do food right) are all well done as far as food is concerned. My family is super picky, and we eat the heck out of our trip, and enjoy every sit down dinner we book (usually one a night). I suspect if you're thinking that the food (again, if you're talking also non-QS) isn't good to great, I fear you're eating at the wrong places.

I disagree. I find most QS meals to be on par with sit-down meals at restaurants in my area.

You're right, MK can't get food right QS or TS. I'm not sure I'm eating at the wrong places, we've been to almost every restaurant and quick service location at WDW at least once, often many times a year. There are some notable exceptions to the mediocre rule like Boma and Sanaa.

I do love Sanaa. Do you like the Signatures? I think those are pretty good. I also like 50s Primetime, 'Ohana for dinner and a handful of other places.

I honestly avoid the signatures, you can get better food around Orlando for quite a lot less. I do like 50s Primetime, but 'Ohana was a let town, we were seated far away from anywhere we could enjoy the atmosphere and our server wasn't really interested in waiting on us. We haven't been back since.

Your really missing out avoiding the signatures. We love fine dining and do so wherever we travel and WDW is no exception. They have so great fine dining options at most signatures on property. Absolutely love Cali Grill, Artist Point, Jiko, Le Cellier, Flying Fish, etc etc. Never had a mediocre meal at any of the Signatures except once at Narcoossees but it may have just been a bad night. :)

At roughly $80 per plate (two dining credits) it had better not be mediocre. :D I guess if you plan for 10 years for a vacation that doesn't sound bad, but like I said in another thread I'm at WDW all the time (local). There are still better options around Orlando for less than half that.

What are some of those options around Orlando?

Ravenous Pig, Kres Chophouse, Saffron, Eddie V's, 4 Rivers smokehouse, Edgewater, Christner's Prime, there are a lot of options here.
Kres is a poor example if you want to say half as expensive with 40-50 entries....

Look when people start with you can get just as good at half the price 95% of the time it is wrong and mostly bc said people is cheap or can't afford it... Comparing a smoke house to V&a and Cal grill? lol

You've obviously never been there. I listed several options at several price points, but you're free to compare whatever you want to whatever you want if it makes you feel better. V&A and Cal Grill aren't as great as people make them out to be, Kres compares quite well which is why you've discarded it so quickly and made up some faux claim that I'm comparing them to 4R.

It's how you raise them. My kid loves salmon, mushrooms, crawfish just as much as grilled cheese and nuggets. We've taken her to fancy steak houses and she's just fine. We make sure she's exposed to it all...and she's only 4
Agree! We always made sure that our children knew how to behave in a restaurant, and ate a variety of foods. Other diners and waitresses would compliment them.

I remember seeing someone on this site post that he would not spend $50 on a filet in a Disney reataurant because he could eat a $10 steak at Longhorn instead.

Gotta be honest, if you look for good food....you'll find it.

I have never once had a bad food experience. The only "complaint" we had was Biergarten, but that was more the communal tables and the people we were stuck with. Specifically the racial and anti-semitic remarks. :)
