The Food At Disney Is Awful

From this guy's perspective, the moral of the story was since I don't have kids, so don't understand that kids can't be subjected to sit down meals. Oh, I'm sorry you didn't raise your kids properly to the point they can't behave during a sit down meal.
Yeah, my brother and I learned to sit properly at meals because we were "subjected" to them.

In WDW.

Don't feel too bad; this guy made a choice not to take your advice, even though he begged for it.

Unless your children are extremely hyper or just having a very bad day they should be able to make it through a character meal just fine. The characters keep them entertained.

Character meals cost too much.

Kids can't tolerate sitting through dinner at an actual table. (Does he just toss food in the kid's cage when not on vacation?)

I don't need a map! I'm a man!

We'll just eat there. (Something within eye sight).

THE FOOD AT WALT DISNEY WORLD SUCKS!!!!!

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
These people are unbelievable, but I have seen a bunch of them with the same attitude there and when they come back. One guy I knew didn't even know the Haunted Mansion existed and spent 2 days in MK.
People must not read or look at the free park guide map you can get when walking into the park!!

I told him the Monorail from MK will take him to 3 hotels in 10 minutes, all have restaurants.

He said "What's the monorail?"

As someone said, he had no intentions of enjoying WDW.

I encounter the sentiments when WDW fans visit Universal. For the longest time they had no intentions of liking the place.

Fortunately the Uni haters don't use the Six Flags meme much anymore. Potter stopped that for the most part.

People like that shouldnt be there then. If their ignorance is going to ruin the fun of actually being there...whats the sense in even going.

Who are these people that drop thousands of dollars on a vacation and DON'T RESEARCH ANYTHING?! Seriously, who does this? You don't even have to really TRY to find out stuff about Disney. They have this thing called the Internet now. Go to Google and type in DISNEY WORLD FOOD. Done. It's not like I'm even saying you need to spend hours researching if you don't want to -- read a reputable planning blog for 30 minutes, hire a travel agent to help you, ANYTHING other than just showing up with zero information about what you're doing or where you're going.

I can't even with these kinds of people. They make me ragey. Like WDW or don't like it, fine -- I get that it's a matter of personal preference -- but at least take a few minutes to LEARN ABOUT THE THING YOU DROPPED A HUGE CHUNK OF MONEY ON before you show up and then complain about it.

I have taken many, many non-Disney vacations in my life. It would never have occurred to me to just fly into Australia, or New York City, without any knowledge of what I'm doing whatsoever. I don't know why people think WDW should be so different.

There seems to be some sort of formula at work. Namely the individuals who beg you the hardest for advise & help seem to have an inverse ability to actually use the information provided.

I have come to the conclusion that there are individuals in this world who are completely beyond my ability to help as they already have the answers.

If you already know the answers naff off & annoy someone else, I'm not interested in you're moaning. You failed to plan & guess what, you achieved everything you were going to with that attitude!

If I'm visiting anywhere for the 1st time I do some planning, the greater the outlay the greater the research. Sheesh I wonder if they put the same effort into purchasing a car or their homes?

I bet his kids are a joy to be around! I come from an age where we respected our parents & woe betide us if we'd "played up" at meal times. It only took one episode of standing in the entrance to a restaurant to learn that its no fun being excluded from dinner & no I didn't eat that night, nor were my parent cruel they were teaching me a life lesson that has stood me in good stead ever since. Nor did I cry & that it wasn't fair, I new better than to pull that one.

Right rant over.

Take out Disney and just put in any vacation in general! I'm from Texas and have been to San Antonio too many times to even count. Twice already this past month. We are planning a short weekend this summer and DH and I are both looking up new Mexican joints to try out. We eat it all the time at home and have our standards there...that said we still research new stuff!!

ETA: there is a lot of that stuff he complained about however there is also SO much more!

Ohhhh once again the ignorant, foolish first timer who thinks they dont need to heed the advice of one who really knows. He probably really didnt want to spend the money on the food or dining in a restaurant.
Not able to find a decent meal? I'd be talking it up at work about all the great things Disney has to offer to guests who plan correctly, then I'd show him some of the photos of all the fabulous meals posted on the trip reports.
Hes got kids? Well what does he do at home? Never take them out? Disneys made for kids, stupid. Where do you think most of the guests go that want to eat and have kids along. The Disney restaurants. And Disneys got great kid meals.
I'd say.... Well too bad you missed out. Maybe next time youll listen. But unfortunately he probably wont go again and his kids will suffer not ever really knowing Disney because of that fool.

Some people are going to complain no matter what. Same folks go to Florida in July and complain about the heat. Same folks go during peak season and complain about the crowds or the pricing, or any number of things that could've been better prepared for with a little research and planning.

I've always gone with the "no plan", plan. But I never complain about wait times or food options or anything else, I'm grown, I know what I'm getting into. As @polynesiangirl said, would you go anywhere for the first time, lay out that kind of money, and just ASSUME everything will be perfect? I think people in general have become so familiar with "Disney" as a cultural institution that they take for granted that work may actually be involved in planning a trip there.

I knew two adults who went to Disney as kids and hated it. After a discussion of why they hated it, in both cases it was due to their parents. They ended up finally going as adults and loved it.
