The Food At Disney Is Awful

I'm going with my cousin and her hubby. Both first timers. I sat her done and told her all about ADR and what to do (but she had it easy since I'm totally guiding her along) but at one point she did say "is this really necessary?can't we just flyby the seat of our pants?" absolutely not! plan away!
I disagree wholeheartedly. I've done no-ADR trips and still eaten at Sanaa, Boma, Crystal Palace, Rose & Crown, and others. Sure, you need to plan if you want SPECIFIC restaurants at SPECIFIC times, but you can definitely get quality sit-down meals same-day.

To be clear, I enjoy planning, but the 180-day-reservations-or-you're-screwed narrative is false.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
I about died once when a NOLA local once told me Applebee's was his favorite place when asked. My friend drug me away crazy fast.
As being from Louisiana I would have had some choice words for that person!! Haha I NEVER (well extremely rarely as IHOP or Krystal burger were open at 6am and Cafe Du Monde was too far to walk faster being out all night lol and I don't do that anymore getting too old haha) eat at a chain restaurant when I go to NOLA!!! Especially coming from a local from NOLA that is absolutely absurd! I don't even go to Applebee's of all places In my home city in south Louisiana ever!! I go to some chains but never that one as haven eaten before and did not care for it. :banghead::arghh:

Can't help people who don't truly want to be helped. I've given tons of useful info to people who have asked that I know won't actually use it. I mean, why should he have to look at menus or property maps to actually properly plan their trip? And seriously...kids not being able to sit through a meal? Unless there's something wrong with the children (which is sometimes the case and a totally different story), that's their fault for not working to cultivate proper behavior at restaurant meals. We all know he's wrong and scored an F at really researching, working with the info given, and putting their trip together...and they'll forever blame Disney even though the failure lies with them. The silver lining...that's one family we'll likely never be competing against for ADRs, FPs, etc. Their loss = our gain :)

I'm going to admit that I once ate at a chain in NOLA, but in my defense it wasn't really a meal. We had a decent dinner, decided to enjoy a bunch of frozens, and I got the munchies- where the only cure was pancakes. So, we went to the IHOP on Canal to feed the cravings.

I confess I have eaten there at IHOP too when most else was closed(not everything as you can always go to Cafe Du Monde for beignets 24/7 etc) or Krystal Burger! Other than that I always 98% eat local in NOLA. Now though when it's late I usually order room service at our hotel as it is really good. We stay at The Roosevelt and they have 24 hour room service. :)

Also in your defense you were not a local that chose to go to a chain on a regular basis in NOLA like the local Applebee's lover he mentioned. Haha :)

Yeah- been to Cafe Du Monde at all hours as well...but DH is just not too into beignets. I've passed the Roosevelt and always thought it looked really nice. We've sort of fallen in love with staying at the Royal O. Omni usually give us some nice goodies and I love the location. Oh man...now I want to hop in the car and head to NOLA! I can make it on 1 tank of gas...if only I didn't have to work (oh, and make arrangements for the kids & dog...and then there's that pesky budget that's tied up in our CA trip).

The blasphemy that your hubby does not like beignets!! LOL! I am wanting to go now too! Me its only 2 hours away but hubby works 24 hour call, funds are tight right now, and have to make plans for dogs etc too so I feel you!!

We usually try to avoid chains in places like that unless there's no other option. I think my husband would hop in the car right now just with the promise of a benedict poboy from Stanley.

Our favorite part of the evening is our meals. Disney has great restaurants in hotels, in downtown Disney, in epcot. Even some quick service lunches like at yak & yeti and living with the land are awesome. People that complain are the ones who do no research & no planning!
