The Cosmetics/Beauty Thread

Glad I found this thread, and it's timely too because I have an issue I was wondering about?
Are there any Clinique users on here?
I have been using clinique for years, and do my ordering online. Never had a problem with that.
Then they had a $10 dollar off foundation sale for a limited time. Sooo, I logged on and tried to order. When I got to the place order part, I got a white screen with BAD error up in the extreme upper left corner. Every. time. I tried. over 2 weeks!!! That had never happened before. So, I called their help line #. The lady who answered could not speak clear English and I could not understand her at all. I said I'd call back, but figured if they outsource their phone calls, then I probably couldn't understand anyone?
Soooooo, back to the drawing board, with alot of frustration.
I emailed them at least 3 times this past 10 days explaining the situation and wanting to know that I needed help with this problem.
What happened? crickets!!! No one bothered emailing back at all. the last time I emailed I said if I did not hear back within a timely manner, then that's it for me with Clinique.

Just out of curiosity, I logged on again and tried to order the Now not on sale foundation, and it let me through to the paying site!!!!
I am very frustrated with the lack of communication, and the obvious "blocking" of the sale promotion (at least it seems pretty fishy to me)
So, what does everybody think. Thanks so much.

I use Clinique Acne Solutions BB cream, but I order it from Sephora. Sephora has been having a lot of sales lately and I think when you sign up to be on their email list, you get 10% off of your first purchase. They have a really big Black Friday sale, if you can hang on that long.

I would try reaching out on Twitter or Facebook. Sometimes when the public can see a grievance, they are quick to rectify an issue.

Just noticed a few posts above yours, that @Tiggerish uses Clinique. Perhaps she might be able to help you with the ordering issues.

Thanks for the holler. ;)

I found that email in my deleted items. Ignored it at the time because I don't use their foundation. It could have been a bad link within the email, if whoever coded it made a typo, if you tried to go to the website each time from within the email. If you were going directly to their site for the sale, never mind that idea! ;)

I only buy from Clinique during bonus time (seems to be bonus time right now on their website, but I don't need anything!), and usually from their website. I recall needing to contact customer service recently (can't remember why) but I had a good result using the chat feature on their site, rather than email or phone. I also watch out for bonuses at department stores, such as Macy's or Bloomingdales, and order through the store site. As @Sans Souci mentioned, there are lots of places to buy Clinique, next time may be worth it to check one of them and see if they are offering the sale (and if they're not, they'd probably match the website offer to get the sale).

It is frustrating to call any customer service line and struggle to communicate.

Thanks so much for responding to this. It was very frustrating, but would have been half as frustrating if someone would help me.
I didnt see the chat feature, or I would have tried that.
I used to go direct to Herbergers dEpt Store, but they are closed now, and right to their clinique counter.
I will try other sites such as Macy's or Bloomingdales. I looked at amazon and they have some of the clinique, but it is a little more expensive than the clinique site. Maybe it's time for a change?

Thanks again for your help.

Ugh, why is bad customer service a recurring theme with makeup companies??

I would keep nagging if I were you. Maybe they’ll give you the discount price? If you don’t want to commit to the time dump (which it might be) maybe start looking for dupes. Which foundation is it?

I use the Super balanced foundation, color: Vanilla 05. I am going to search other places as suggested by Tiggerish. I'm tired of messing with them. If they don't think more of their customers than that, then I am done. I can find something else. BTW, after the promotion it was back to it's regular price. I think the regular price was higher too, as it was $31.00 plus tax and shipping!!! Getting way to high for me, as I am not a beauty queen,,,,,anymore, LOL.

Wow, I didn't know you could order clinique thru Sephora???!!! We have a Sephora store in our local JC Penny's. I'll have to check it out. It really is getting pretty high in cost for the small glass bottle, now is $31.00 plus tax and shipping. It was around $20. when I first started to use it. So, maybe this will cause me to try other makeups.
The idea of reaching out on facebook is a good one. Maybe Someone will pay attention if they get bad press over this.
Thanks so much.
I love this thread. I'm learning alot.

Just a little warning! Be careful when buying on Amazon as some counterfeit makeup has been found to have been sold there by 3rd party sellers. My advice find out from the company you want to buy from allows sales there and by who. Same goes for ebay and such

Here’s my current makeup collection...it’s so much, I know 🙈However I have been focusing on trying to pan a few things (concealer, foundation, primer, and a powder) and i’m getting close. This is also accumulated from 3+ years as I don’t throw stuff out as often as it says on the package. The items in the Caboodles are what I’m currently using everyday, though I do reach into that big bin quite a bit.

I'm torn between jealous and EEEKKKK that's a lot of stuff. Mine is more curated and I did toss some stuff one I knew makeup wasn't happening for a while

That's fair. I think I might declutter soon. I have probably 10 lorac lip products that I just don't use anymore but I got them in a gift set. Plus, I'm partial because this formula was my segue into makeup (although I would argue the lip gloss formula is not the greatest). I think I may do a brutal declutter soon and pass those on to my little sister.

Despite me having this much, in some areas I only have 1 or 2 products. Like for instance, I only have 1 contour product and 2 bronzers. 2 bronzers is probably more than the average person, though.

I just have an overabundance of lip and eye products. Though I have gotten a lot more face products recently. I really want to do some hodpodge makeup science and make my own lip products! lol. Might have to look at lip gloss tubes on amazon

That is a gorgeous palette!!! I love those pink shimmers, I have a few that are similar. they’re one of my favorite things to just throw on the lid and be done.

Congrats on the pans! also love the phineas and ferb blanket :)

I want to start an eyeshadow project pan, thinking my Tartelette Toasted. I used it again today and I do have significant dips in some pans...but those eyeshadows are so darn large! It’s my main neutral palette though as well as a great Fall palette. I might make that and my Gingerbread Spice my palettes for the next month (but might throw in a few Colourpop singles as toppers.)

I’ve considered starting a youtube channel, honestly. Not sure if anyone would watch, but I’m a weirdo who already narrates what I’m doing while I do my makeup. I’m far from a makeup artist, but I do think people showing what makeup actually looks like is important. Nobody has skin that smooth, that’s just an insta filter.

My Ipsy bag for the month, +my add ons. Overall, seems decent, though I just got an essence highlighter from that same line from CVS 🤦🏻‍♀️(I got a coupon for a free beauty item under $5) Though why the blonde brow gel?? I’m very much a brunette and Ipsy should know that. I’ll give it a go, I hear lighter brow products can look more natural. At least the Tarte one should match somewhat.

I do like Ipsy a lot, I just have so much product to work through already. I’ve already reduced my bag frequency to every other month. Think i’m gonna go on a low buy anyway, so we’ll see.

Go for it. Please share your first one here. You never know what will happen if you do and not having perfect skin never stopped Taylor Wynn

Since I've been wearing so little makeup lately (including lipstick), I figured I'd try something like Chap Stick for my lips -- but I didn't buy that brand. (I read recently that C. S. isn't the best thing to use.)

So, I bought a moisturizing lip balm (no color) from Burt's Bees. It's nice and has a very subtle vanilla scent, when you first put it on. :)

Thank you! I think my first video will be a declutter actually :) If I do go through with it, I’ll DM y’all a link, since I don’t want my face attached for just anyone browsing the site to see (especially because I worked for Disney and want to in the future!)

Ooh! My mom got me a lip balm from there that I haven’t opened yet. She’s a diehard Carmex lady. I’ll have to try the one she gave me, because I go through lip balm like nobody’s business in the winter months. I did get essentially 2 free Nivea lip balms by couponing at CVS. I’m saving one as a stocking stuffer, but the peach one i’ve been using smells amazing!! Works pretty decently too- been keeping it in my pocket.

Before I go to bed I put on a lip mask from Laneige (sp?) I got it for Christmas last year. It is more expensive ($15-$20) but the small tub has lasted me ages. I haven’t even hit the bottom yet and I got it last winter. It’s very thick and feels super nice. When it gets colder i’ll probably use it throughout the day since my lips will get super crusty otherwise.

@Lora Baines Bradley my son says thank you. It was the sheet from my son's bedding set you liked. He's a big P&F fan, picture a red headed kid wearing blue shorts with an orange and white striped shirt doing the old P&F meet and greet.
